Do not buy "Strong" products – I own 4 off Strong SRT 7000 - three of them loosing colours and fading picture sharpness - do not buy any of Strong products! they do not upgrade their software on regular basis and you do not get help from their support department. Show details

STRONG, NOT !!! WEAK, PIECE OF CRAP - DO NOT BUY THIS RUBBISH – I bought the Strong 6500 from Harvey Norman, When I went to set it up it required a firmware update that was time consuming and complicated for the average person. The remote control does not work on any angle to the front of the unit, It only works when standing and pointing directly in front of the unit no more than 4 meters away. This is just… Read more

the beginning, the channels all freeze and then the remote does not work at all, the unit must be unplugged and restarted to "unfreeze" the unit, then it all starts again. I called the Adelaide Rep, he came out and changed over the unit, the exact same problems occurred over and over, I called him again, he just talked and talked and made every excuse he could think of (part of his training I'd say) and said its a complicated unit and this is what to expect !!!! I couldn't get a word in edge-ways, he was very arrogant and NOT in any way interested in resolving the problems. DO NOT BUY THIS BRAND EVER, it is a piece of crap and should NOT be on the Australian Market. There is NO after sales service, the unit is a waste of time and money.

Aftersales backup – The stb7000 connected up without any problems, the problem was the dvr didn't dvr. A message would come up," no internal device" , the hard drive was not being recognised. After studying the instructions and searching on the internet, I decided to ring the supportline, only to be able to leave a message. As it was getting close to closing… Read more

time I decided to back it up with an email.

Which I got a reply almost straight away, the trouble was nobody bothered to read it, the reply was just a generic one, saying to download the lastest firmware and install it. So most of the evening was wasted downloading the firmware and installing it. I'm not all that technically savvy. It didn't make the slightess difference of course.

The next day there was no sign of the phone call being returned, so I left another message. The answering service has to heard tobe believed!!

A couple of hours later, the call was returned and I was advised to return the unit. A week later another unit turned up,I plugged it in and ready to go, there was a later firmware tobe installed, here we go again.

This unit works ok most of the time, but a couple of times it has got too hot for my liking, and the picture freezes and a sign comes up noaudio/video. Supportline says return the unit for testing.

Poor warranty back up and support

Rubbish – Worst product ever... No such thing as series record feature... Missed recordings as a result never saw a series through... Had replacement box and had exactly same issues with it. Customer service is terrible and having to send product back to Melbourne on x2 occasions with no improvement! Do not buy this product!!!!

Excellent PVR – I have used several PVR in the past, currently I have a topfield 2400HD, SONIQ, I had a foxtel IQ 2 HD, this unit has been very painless for me. The Topfield unit, I had to purchase an extra wifi dongle, and still it refuses to play any youtube videos. IceTV works great on both the topfield and strong unit. I highly recommend the strong unit, I… Read more

have the latest firmware update, so I believe most of the bugs must have been ironed out with my unit. Just by reading the few comments here, there must of been a lot.

The Strong unit is very quick and responsive. The remote is something you have to get used to. Not has intuitive as the foxtel unit.

overall, highly recommended by someone who's gone through so many PVR's in the past. Price point is right, quick and responsive, works flawlessly the remote is non intuitive

almost perfect – I have had the SRT7000 since they were released. It has been faultless. I have never had freezing as some people say. At first I had a remote that wouldnt work which was replaced. I didnt like the long start up. That was rectified with firmware update. My only gripe is no Mheg-5 epg so I only get now and next. Unit works well Easy to record/edit… Read more

ads and file copy so can copy media files to it. Plays media files from external drive No Mheg-5 epg so only now/next program

Big Mistake! – There are a number of attributes that I like about the SRT7000 (some of the video manipulation is good) ... however, I have had a massive problem with the Timer Lead In/Timer Lead Out (it was initially missing, it appeared, it disappeared, and it re-appeared) but, most of all, the assistance received from the so-called Help Desk was pathetic. I… Read more

really believe that the "Support Team" (and I use that term very loosely) had no idea about the box and got the impression that my calls for assistance were more of a hindrance (I have to say that the EPG provider, IceTV, was a bigger help with the SRT7000 than the manufacturer was). Even though it has its problems, I've given up on Strong (after six months) and have bought another TiVo to replace it. Video playback and fast-forwarding capabilities Timer Lead In/Timer Lead Out, failed on change to daylight savings time, minimal technical support by Strong.

Rubbish Product – I've lost count of the number of times I've had to pull the plug out and start the whole loading again. Numerous freezing of functions, and sometimes says it is recording, only to find it hasn't recorded after-all. No confidence in it at all. Often doesn't record back to back shows because the lead in / lead out seems to confuse it. WiFi has… Read more

never worked. The so called smart app to control through iphone has never worked either.

I'm sorry I bought the Strong SRT 7000.

Do yourself a favour, get something else.

Pathetic – Stay away from this Company and its products until/unless they deliver what they sell. Too many faults to mention from 'out of the box' to the latest update. Clearly marketed and sold without any reasonable testing at all. Worse still, the amateurish response from Strong fails to take into account useful customer feedback to resolve the myriad of… Read more

issues preferring instead to release 'patchwork quilt' updates which fix some issues and create others. Ridiculous stance which will ultimately cost them. Nothing smart about that. Good in theory; pathetic in practice. Smart Series Record failure, freezing, shutting down and losing recordings, audio problems, lousy epg, terrible customer service etc.

Doesn't work properly – Bought this in January after we were unable to find Tivo and the salesman at harvey norman said this would be even better. We thought it may take some getting used to however we are still waiting! The series record only works occasionally, with some weekly program's only recording fortnightly or not at all. Often freezes and needs the power to be… Read more

taken out to be reset, then takes ages to reload. The wifi has never worked for us. We have called tech support a few times and left our number for them to call us back but we're still waiting. Can record many shows at once, however if I try to record the show after the one I want (so as not to miss the end), it cancels the original show. hoping now it's not too late to exchange for TiVo! Records many shows at once Rarely works properly

We just brought the SRT 7000 and cannot get the Wi Fi to work at all. The manual is terrible and does not help. Any ideas?

Strong SRT 7000 – I got this yesterday, to replace a Panasonic that only recorded in SD-- ( which I now have in another room)I find that the manual for the Strong SRT 7000 is awful and the details SO small and blurred you can not read them--it is not at all user friendly although it has a 500gb hard drive and can record 3 programs while watching a 4th but… Read more

Latest Firmware makes this the best PVR on the market, Full Featured PVR Set TopBox – Just purchased one of these after returning a Sony HDT1000 for a full refund. Was a little concerned after reading some of the earlier reviews with issues, but i thought I would give it a try after hearing that new firmware had fixed things. The Strong SRT 7000 with the latest firmware is magic. Does everything I wanted and more, although it may… Read more ·  1

be a little high tech for some. with advanced streaming, wired and wireless network options and IOS device access. Good program guide and navigation. Yes it also records in full HD 3D, just recorded some of the Nine broadcast of the Olympics 2012 in 3D and it plays back perfect. The Sony could not do it, one of the reasons I returned it. Easy to copy files off to a PC or Mac. This unit out does the Topfield, TIVO's and other higher priced units. I believe the latest firmware update has address all the earlier issues, it's absolutely blown me away. Mine has firmware, July 2012. Full featured has everything you could want. None really, maybe some options to customise the menu skin would have been nice.

Don't buy one – Nothing works, can't deselect mute or subtitles. Doesn't record series. Can only get it to work by switching it off and then waiting 5 minutes for it to reload. Can.t select programme, comes up "no information". Can't access technical support either on line or by phone. Want my money back. Don't buy it.

Freezing all the time – This is the second Strong SRT 7000 I have had and just last night I tried to record a TV program. Even though the recorder said it was recording, it wasn't. The box has a really long start up time and from time to time, approx every third use, the thing freezes. Even the buttons on the front of the box won't work. Turning it off at the power point… Read more

was the only option, and combined with the long start up time is a real pain. The series record has failed to work and the web browser is super slow. back goes the 7000, still under warranty, here I come Humax.

Poor customer service.

Shocking don't touch it – Play U tube the machine freezes up. Series record does not work. States it is recording and isn't. Radio media works when it feels it. When three are set up top record it cuts off at reach stage of commencing or completing a task Back to Foxtel IQ. This 7000n i9s a heap of JUNK. Showed promise to record three programes at once. No customer service leave a message and we will get back top you, RIGHT.
