Sunbeam Mini Glass MultiChopper FCP1000WH

Used 5 or 6 times and the plastic wore out, no replacement part. Throw away item – I've used this product once a month for about five or six months and worked o.k. Unfortunately, they made the cog connection to connect the blade to the motor out of plastic and it wore down so it's just a paper weight at the moment. I called for spare parts and there aren't any. I had a Black and Decker small food processor and it still works after 16 years. I just needed something a bit bigger. $54 for six uses is not good value. With so much waste, it's a shame manufacturers are not making things to last.

Blade doesn't chop nuts, otherwise ok – I bought this mini chopper 3 weeks ago for small chopping jobs like herbs and nuts. It was really good on herbs as long as they are not too damp (they just slide around) but that's ok. The problem is the first time I chopped raw walnuts it wouldn't chop them, they just stuck on the blade. That seemed to blunt the stainless steel blade and now it barely chops herbs and won't even slice through a chickpea if I hold the blade. I contacted Sunbeam to ask for a new chopping blade but they don't keep spare parts. As it is under warranty they asked me to take it back to the shop for a whole replacement. They did not answer my question "will the new blade be up to chopping nuts?" and it will probably be the same. I am taking it back for a refund. Made in China of course but makes me think about the sustainability of so many kitchen appliances. I didn't use the whisk. I gave it an extra star as the bowl is glass, not plastic and you can use the bowl with a lid provided to store a dip or salsa in the fridge.
