No more tanakas for me – We've been using tanaka hedge trimmers for years in our business. The newest ones are a pain to get started. The directions even state 5 pulls once the engine is warm. It's usually 5-8. The blades are junk and dull quickly. I see also that they're now being made in china. No thanks

Average – After having an older same model with no probs I thought I go with another tanaka.this one has been ok but seems to flood if you stop it and won't start again for ages.maybe just needs a service but has this prob since new.this has turned me off and unlikely I will buy another if I find one with same lenght blades.

Lovely medium cut hedge trimmer – I purchased the hedge clippers july 2003 thats nearly 10 years ok, i've had them serviced once, and had a new petrol cap, if you over tighten the petrol cap, it splits, you have to tighten it carefully, beside that the trimmers are good, very reliable and lightweight, i use still 50 : 1 oil mixture, and after use spray the blades with wd 40. I've probably used the trimmers, once every fortnight for 1/2 hour, for the past 10 years, and they are still good !! Light weight, easy to handle, reliable Tighten up the filler cap carefully, don't over tighten as the cap will split

Excellent – The good thing about it is it can cut 'delicate' hedges such as potostruim and hardier ones like english box. It really is easy to start and cuts through bushes and hedges with ease. I was told when I bought it to brush the leaves and cuttings away from the blades after use and spray a bit of lanolin oil on to the blades and run that in. This has been a really good tip. Great tool, it goes and goes its easy to start and it is powerful. We have had this tool for over 3 years and it has been great.

Terrible – when its running well, (i.e when i've taken it back to the shop and they have blown the exhaust filter out) it's a good machine. i dont know if iv'e bought a pup or if it's a design fault but iv'e been put off. cuts very well on most hedges. nicely ballanced machine had problems with the exhaust filter blocking and machine cutting out. runs like there is too much oil in the mix when all the other two stoke machines run well on the same fuel. been back to the shop three times in as many months.
