Nothing is for free! – When looking to purchase a High Definition Digital Receiver (set top box) I was drawn to TEAC as they had an offer of a free DVD player, as I needed a DVD player I purchased the TEAC High Definition Digital Receiver. To receive the free DVD player I had to cut out the barcode from the High Definition Digital Receiver box and post it along with my receipt. When the DVD player finally arrived I couldn’t wait to try it out only to find that it wouldn’t read any of my discs. I rang TEAC and they told me that would send a pre-paid bag for which I was to post the DVD player back to them. As to their word I received the bag, posted the DVD player to them then they posted me another DVD player all this took about 8 weeks from time of purchasing the High Definition Digital Receiver. The DVD player worked fine and I was very happy with it. Months passed and I noticed that the batteries (which were supplied by TEAC for the remote for the DVD player) were going flat. I opened the cover to replace the batteries only to find that they were corroded and battery acid was all though the remote. We tried to clean up the acid and remove the corrosion which no luck. Without a working remote the DVD can only operate the basic functions, open and close, play and stop. I cannot pause, fast forward, rewind, zoom or custom setup my DVD player with the time etc. I inquired about buying a new remote but was told it would be cheaper to buy a new DVD player. One would think that the batteries supplied would be covered under the 12 month warranty but apparently not. The compact size of the player. Cheap batteries supplied.

Excellent – I purchased this DVD Player for the kids room, wanted something cheap, reliable and easy to use. This was easy to set up, kids can use it easily and the quality seems as good as the more expensive units we've purchased. Budget price, small, compact, easy to use and reliable
