OK – paid $199 at DSE as it was clearing this model. last one in store so they are not continuing with this SD box. Photo on this website is not the SDR161T as it has the switch it the black area of the panel which is 7/8 its width easy to program recording. 160G =hours lightweight controller good on TDT digital weak tuning on analog (pixelation occasionally) ABC1 guide booklet poor slow to change channel has RS232 but only for upgrade firmwire
Bad – I don't mind that Teac buy in others products rather than make and design their own but ITS COMPLETELY PATHETIC that they don't appear to have bothered to have anyone employed to TEST these products before they put them on sale. Cheap and cheerful unit - however DO NOT PAY FULL PRICE for it!!! Unit is a REBADGED no name brand from china. Power… Read more
supply runs VERY HOT
If you program more than one show to record it gets frequently gets confused - turns on, but doesn't save the show to the hard disc. So you can't 100% rely on the unit to record your shows when you are away - in fact mine fails to record 20% of what I program.
Terrible – i have just put my teac sdr161t in for repairs because the picture was freezing and no audio even though when watching the shows whilst recording they were fine. the service guys from teac are unable to get the part so i am recieving a new machine i would rather recieve my money back. able to tape a show without tapes or discs if signal not very good the audio and picture are no good
Terrible – I returned this machine within 48hours it is lousy, I'd heard stories that it had trouble picking up a signal but was supprised how bad it was. Prerecording is a pain as it seems to default to waiting for you to confirm that you want to record the show something that would definately be a pain. I'm glad I was able to change it for a Topfield 4400… Read more
