Disappointed – I got one of these going by reviews. The 20cm Ultimate. Its ok but im a little disappointed. Its a frypan, it cooks and the non stick side of things is good. But mine, the red dot centre never changes colour no matter how hot the pan is. I thought it was supposed to get redder! Mine does nothing. I also hear noises almost like cracking sounds… Read more
which freaks me out at times as the cooktop is ceramic and I think its coming from that and breaking. Its the pan making expansion noises as it heats. I wish it didn't do that. Mine arrived also with a loose handle which for what it cost me was poor having to get a screw driver and tighten it. The other annoyance is you have to sit it a certain way after washing it so water drains out of the handle area. I found this out after the first wash and a day later noticed water from it on the cooktop when it started heating. These are not in my opinion as good as they are made out to be. I wouldn't buy another of these. First and last. An update one month on. Iv dropped the star rating to 2. I only use this to make small omelettes and scrambled eggs. This thing is developing scratches all over the supposed scratch resistant surface. I have a Mint frypan from Woolworths thats tripple the size of this, has cooked chops with bones and everything imaginable. It cost just $30 and has been used ten times as much as this Tefal! There's not a mark on it yet! Check out the difference from the Tefal to the Mint!
Tefal is still the best – Hubby and I recently (2nd April 2024) Bought another non stick pan from the Tefal ultimate induction range from David Jones. We bought the 26cm Saute pan with Lid. (The one with high sides and no pooring spout) The positives! - Actually non stick! - Easy to wash up - I absolutely love the little baby handle on the opposite side of the regular… Read more · 1
handle. This really saves my weak wrist and just makes lifting and carrying a full pot so easy. - This pot comes with a lid!! This is somethign that was sorely lacking in our last fry pan, I was grateful it had a little pooring spout on it but a lid is absolutely essential sometimes. It just makes everything so much easier and allows me to slower cook things like satay chicken etc. The lid is a generous size and has a nice big handle on top - The handles on the pan and the lid don't get hot, even on our gas stove - The handle has a tiny screw under it- allowing us to tighten it if it ever needs in the future. The last one we had didn't have the option. - We got the 26cm pot size and it's a reallllly big generous size. Perfect for a family or cooking a lot of food at once. - The heating is excellent, the sides get hot and help it to create a little bit of an oven affect sort of thing, which allows food to cook in a shorter time and more evenly than if it were just the bottom getting all the heat. - The heat is evenly dispursed throughout the entire pan. There are no hot spots or cold spots. - The product by itself is actually surprisingly light. I was really expecting a heavy pot but once it came I was really pleasantly surprised. Makes it much less of an ordeal to carry and lift when empty and full. Especially for those of us with illnesses that affect our strength and energy. - Comes with a fantastic warranty - No harmful chemicals in the coating. - Easily sourced and quite often on sale which really helps.
Things that could be better - Its not a huge deal, but the handle is a tiny smidge loose. Came like that brand new out of the box. But this is really nit picking.
Overall this is our 2nd pan and our now almost 3 yr old pan is still also going strong. We just really wanted one with a lid. Very happy with our investments and will never stop using Tefal as our go-to brand for pans. Nothing comes remotely close in quality, cooking and longevity.
Tefal non stick induction cookware – Very happy with the 5 piece Tefal Induction non stick cookware set. Cooks evenly. Easy to clean. Not too heavy. The handles do not heat up. Food does not stick. Very happy with this purchase which I bought on sale and was rather economical compared to other brands. The set I purchased is suitable for a small family or individual. Show details · 1
Coating does not last – These pans work well when the coating is 100%. But after time (only a year really) the coating degrades and you essentially have another coated pan going to the trash. But to be fair ALL coated on-stick pans are rubbish like this, not just Tefal. Show details
I'll never buy Scanpan again! – Excellent frypan - good non-stick surface, easy to clean. I bought this to replace the utterly useless and extremely expensive Scanpan CTX that had never worked (and the retailer refused to honour the warranty). The Tefal was half the price and is double the quality. It actually does what it was designed for! Show details

Excellent Multipurpose Pan Although a Little on The Small Side – Full disclosure - I got this to review under the ambassador program Description On The Card Tefal make some claims on the instruction card wrapped onto the pans - 26cm & 4 people? 4 people high -hmmm not sure what it's supposed to signify - Titanium non-stick surface that lasts up to 3x longer - Superior induction - Designed to last - Recyclable… Read more

Instructions - Wash then oil it before use - Don't go over 175 Deg C in the oven and can't use it in a microwave - No sharp utensils (like whisks) - If your handle loosens, re-tighten it - Instructions are multi-lingual
Cooking: I've got a gas cooktop and tried it on small, medium and large burners and the heat distributed well. I didn't see any hot spots from the burners like I have with other pans I've got. There's a red thermo signal for searing meats. Basically wait until the symbol changes colour and it's ready to add your meat. They've got these on their other pans as well which in the initial stages is great when cooking steaks.
I read some of the other reviews that said the pan was heavy. It's actually lighter than my other pan. But if you load it up with food, yeah it's going to be heavy.
I tried cooking a few things: stir-fry, steak, pancakes, butter chicken, big breakfast among a few others. The high sides are good when doing bacon and eggs as the fat from the bacon doesn't splatter all over the stove top. While Tefal say you only need a small amount of oil while cooking, I think it depends on what you're cooking. Searing steaks/chicken etc is fine. But I still like a bit more oil in there if I'm cooking schnitzels or sausages and it helps to brown them.
Ideally, the pan seems to me more geared toward one-pot cooking (like spaghetti, stir-fry's, curries etc). Although it's supposed to be a multi-pan, it does make it a bit difficult with the sides being so high for pancakes, eggs etc.
While it does cook well, I found it a bit small (see photos). It's stated as 26cm at the top, but the bottom part is only 20cm. The picture on the front with chicken breasts must be the size of nuggets because I can't fit that in there. I tried my usual Sunday "big breakfast" consisting of 2x eggs, bacon, sausage, tomato, onion and had a hard time fitting that in there. I basically had to start the bacon first with sausage and tomato, then double up the bacon to fit the eggs and onion in.
I normally make a lot of meat sauce for spaghetti and it only just fits in my other pan (in pictures). I found this pan not to be big enough and missed out by the time I added meat and sauces. And without a lid, sauce splattered all over the stovetop. So you really need a lid of cooking spag or saucy meals.
Cleaning: Generally you could wipe it out with paper towel if you liked and everything mostly came off easily. But I still washed it up in hot soapy water. Very easy to clean and still looks like new other than the bottom being a little discoloured.
Quality and Features - Heavy base and distributed heat well - Side spout good for pouring soups and sauces - Comfortable handle and doesn't get hot - Non-stick surface was great. Fried bacon and eggs and they moved easily without sticking and without having to use a spatula.
Tefal claims it last 3x longer (but doesn't compare to what). In general use, it has a few nicks from being stored with other pots. I've got another set of Tefal pots and pans and that fry pans surface has blackened over time. The centre heat display has deteriorated to the point it doesn't work any more either. Hopefully this pan is better than those ones over time.
Good points - Good heat distribution - Non-stick surface works well and easy to clean - Has side pouring spouts
Bad points - Needs a lid (I'll probably look at getting a lid for it) - A little on the small side considering its 26cm (bottom should be bigger) - Needs a handle on front to help balance when full of food - Has a torque head type screw (that's slotted as well) to hold the handle on which is a bit silly. It's not a common screw head that everyone has the bit for. The average person at home would have a flat, maybe a philips head and a knife. That's what's been used to tighten handles on kitchenware since the dawn of time. Even using a flat blade screw driver on the part of the screw that was slotted is near impossible to tighten, unless you have torque bits. Just put a philips head screw in it - attaching a handle shouldn't be rocket science.
Final Thoughts on Tefals claims: - 26cm & 4 people: Yeah nah, lucky to do 1-2 people with the small bottom - Titanium non-stick surface that lasts up to 3x longer: Bold claim and have to see after longer test - Designed to last: If already having a few scratches after only a month is any indication, I think not - Superior induction: Certainly distributes the heat well - Works on all hobs: Seems plausible - Recyclable: I don't see why not, it's metal after all
Overall it works very well. Although it's a little on the pricey side considering it hasn't got a lid ($130 RRP although I've seen them between $75-120 depending on where you buy it). It has a 2 year warranty, although that's only against manufacturing defects and doesn't cover scratching or discolouring. Going off the other Tefal pans I have, I don't expect the non-stick surface to last past 12 months even being careful with it. Time will tell but it's still better than the $30 Kmart or Aldi specials.
Very hard tto fault – For around $60-$75, you expect a non stick pan to perform and that is exactly what you get with the Tefal Ultimate Induction 26cm pan. My wife and I have been using this pan as our daily go-to for absolutely everything - from eggs, to pastas to even some soups. The heat is very well distributed compared to our other two non-stick pans, which means… Read more
you can make use of all the surface area this pan afford. The only down-side to this excellent distribution is a more weight that what I'd like when it comes to handling a full pan. The lips on either side of the pan are superb for pouring soups or excess water (for instance, when reducing spinach), but I think even at 26 cm, this pan can hold a LOT of food and pouring without a small handle 180 degrees opposite the handle can make for a pricarious pour. For those that would consider their hand strength to be weak, I wouldn't encourage cooking large volumes of food and trying to wield the pan while piping hot. Very happy with the overall performance and we'd happily purchase another should we need to replace or expand our range.
I like it alot – I’ve bought lots of cookware over the years but I don’t think I’ve ever been so taken with any of them so quickly. First use of this multi-pan and I’m converted. I have other Tefal pans as well as other brands, and they’re OK. But I was on the fence, eventually coming around because they performed Ok and lasted. Nothing to brag about though. … Read more
This pan feels different. I haven’t found anything I don’t like about it.
It’s a substantial pan, but not too weighty. It has a goldilocks capacity, not too big and not too small. It’s deeper than a frypan so is really adaptable. I have larger pans and smaller pans, but this one is just right and I’ve chosen it a number of times instead of others.
I do wish it came with a glass lid. Often in cookware sets one lid can be used for multiple pans. I’d hope one was available. I did use a lid from another set that didn’t quite fit, but got me through.
The pan has two pouring lips – a narrow one for liquids and a wider one for other food. None of my other pans have these, and they are surprisingly practical and helpful.
Its handle is comfortable to hold, never got hot. Full of food, the pan was heavy and took me two hands to lift, but this is not unexpected. It was still comfortable to maneuver with two hands.
I’m a nonstick fan from way back and this surface is fantastic. Nonstick doesn’t always translate to food not sticking but it did here. The lack of oil needed was impressive.
The surface feels robust. My husband will attest that I’m overly careful with my cookware, but I have no concerns with this pan. I’m not suggesting you should be careless, nonstick surfaces are not indestructible. But it feels really secure, strong, substantial. Using and caring for it as a nonstick product seems to be keeping it in good shape. Early days of course, but I’m very hopeful.
I’ve only been able to use this pan on a gas cooktop, but I love the fact that I could use it on all cooktops. Who wants to add the expense of changing out their cookware if you change your cooktop? We considered moving from gas to induction at our previous house, but the added expense ended that thought. This is a major selling point for me. To know I would have that choice in future makes so much sense.
It’s so easy to clean this pan, it’s a pleasure to wash up (if such a thing exists). Took very little effort at all to clean it up. I even went back once it dried to check it was actually clean.
And it’s not too bad looking either. I would never buy cookware on looks alone, but it’s a nice bonus given how much I like the other features.
I’m so pleased I got this pan to review. The crowded cookware market can be confusing to navigate and a regretful purchase, far too easy to make.
The best thing about this pan is that when I need to replace other cookware, I’ve already decided what to buy.
The worst? Hoping my other pans fail soon.
Very happy with this pan.
The 'Swiss Army knife' of cookware – The Tefal 'Ultimate' 26 cm multipan–what a beast! Having spent a month cooking as many things as my waistline will allow, I am now in the midst of a crisis: what am I to do with my excess pots and pans that the multipan has put to shame? Here's what happened... I already had a collection of pots and pans because most of them didn't live up to… Read more
expectations and so I'd buy another one that was supposedly better. My former favourite pan is also a Tefal, but this new one is leagues ahead. To start with, it heats so so so evenly. I tried the multipan on a gas cooktop with small/medium/big burners, a portable solid electric hotplate, and on a portable induction hotplate. I expected it to have hotspots right over the heat source but this pan was faultless. Pancakes were browned evenly all the way to the edge. Sliced mushrooms fried evenly. Paella cooked to perfection from edge to edge, with the layer of crunchy rice at the bottom being consistently browned but never burnt. My cheap induction hotplate doesn't heat evenly and causes hotspots and burned areas with my cast iron or stainless steel pots and pans, however the Tefal multipan somehow manages to spread the heat perfectly around the entire surface of the pan.
When using the multipan over gas burners the heat was also extremely even. Over the wok burner it was very quick to heat and was responsive to temperature changes. Stir-fries were easy thanks to the excellent non-stick surface, deep sides, and because the whole pan heats up rather than only the base. You do have to be careful though because the sides do get very hot – something I am not used to with my other pans. Only on the gas wok burner did the handle get hot to the touch, but on the smaller burners or electric hotplates the handle did not get hot.
The instructions say to add a very small amount of oil and this is what I did for everything except for one experiment. I fried a lightly-whisked egg without any oil in order to test the non-stick surface. Last year I bought a similarly-sized blue 'As seen on TV' deep frypan to make 'one-pot' dishes. Unlike the blue pan which failed the no-oil egg test on the first try (and stuck like crazy!), the Tefal multipan cooked the egg evenly without any sticking or burning. The egg slid around the pan effortlessly, and happily slid out of the pan once it was fully cooked.
I cooked a few one-pot rice/grain recipes that I would usually make in a saucepan with lots of stirring to prevent burnt bottoms. The Tefal multipan made easy work of it, and thanks to the even heat distribution and enduring non-stickiness, the recipes came out brilliantly. With that said, the pan does not come with a lid which is a real shame because it would have made this pan completely perfect. Since getting this pan, I haven't had to use any other pots or pans to cook anything in the past month, but only because I was able to borrow a slightly smaller lid from a big saucepan. I will buy a 26 cm lid to go with this pan, but Tefal if you are listening, please include a matching lid in future!
The pan is quite heavy for its size, but it's much lighter than an equivalent cast-iron pan which won't heat evenly or be simple to clean. You really can just wipe this pan out with a paper towel if you don't have the time or energy to take it for a swim in the sink. For the sake of this review, I washed the pan every time with soap in hot water. Some non-stick items I've owned performed brilliantly for the first 2-3 times then got a bit grippy, but this pan hasn't skipped a beat in the month I've had it. After some long and hot frying of some marinated food, there were some sauce bits that stayed in place, but they easily wiped off without effort. The blue pan I mentioned earlier always needs a bit of effort to clean the same type of food... off to the op-shop, Bluey!
All in all, I was extremely impressed with this pan and will be downsizing my stash of pots and pans because of the extra depth this pan offers. My older Tefal pan has been with me for about 9 years and the non-stick surface is still happy so I have no concerns about this brand new one. My only dislikes are the absent lid and the ever so slightly wobbly handle after the first use... which reminds me. The handle can't be retightened using a regular screwdriver as it has a different type of screw head. The handle certainly isn't going to fall off, but the slight wobble shouldn't happen with a pan in this price range.
TL;DR:
Good - extremely even heat, (so far) excellent non-stick surface, no weird plasticky odours, super easy to clean, solid feel, not too big not too small, depth makes it more than just a frypan, great on any cooktop,
Bad - does not come with a lid, slightly loose handle, not big enough for gigantic pancakes or big fry-ups
Mid tier quality, cooks nicely, wouldn't tolerate abuse – Full disclosure - I was sent this pan for free by Tefal. I keep the pan in exchange for writing an honest review. Cooking: This pan has a heavy base and distributes heat well. It doesn't lose all its heat when you dump a steak in there either, which is nice. It's a cut above the cheap and nasty anko pans that warp with the heat and scorch… Read more
everything in the centre of the pan. The tall sides are good for pastas and stir fries because you can fit a lot of volume in there without spillage. This is a real bonus for one-pot meals as it minimises the overall cleaning required afterwards.
Quality: This pan might have long life with a careful user, but if it's left in the care of teenagers or used frequently in a sharehouse type scenario, it will degrade very quickly. I noticed that after a few weeks of using plastic utensils, some runs in the dishwasher, and being stored in a stack of other pans, that the handle has got a definite wobble and the non-stick coating has a couple of small nicks exposing the bare metal underneath. It still cooks okay, but if that's the damage after only a month of use... it might not last years and years.
The ultimate test of a non stick pan, is how long the coating lasts. I've only had the pan for about a month, so I can't comment on that. However, keep in mind that non stick pans can be recoated in most major cities, so it's not an absolute dealbreaker if the non-stick coating does wear out early.

Great multipurpose skillet style frypan! – This review unit was supplied as part of the Product Review Ambassador program. While a little on the expensive side, the Tefal Ultimate Multipan makes numerous claims as to it capabilities as a multiple use “skillet” frypan for all hobs. I have an induction cooktop so put it to the test using that. DESCRIPTION AND FIRST USE The pan arrived… Read more
with a simple cardboard wrapper (Tefal claims that the Multipan itself is recyclable) around it stating the pan’s features along with care and cleaning instructions. As the pan is made in France, the instructions are also supplied in multiple languages. Tefal states that this is a 26cm pan, which is somewhat of a misnomer: my measurements showed an internal diameter across the top of 26cm but only 20cm internal diameter at the base with internal height of about 75mm. The black handle is about 18cm in length. Additionally, their are two pouring spouts opposite each other on the top edge. One is a simple pouring lip while the other is widened (approx. 6-7cm).
Before first use, the only requirement is a wash followed by wiping with cooking oil. Essentially, this should be the only time you need to oil it, however, there may be other times you would want to use oil to add flavour and/or enhance the cooking process. Additionally, Tefal states that the Multipan is safe in an oven to 175° but must not be used in a microwave.
USAGE The pan feels solidly constructed with a thick base contributing to its overall weight of about 1.2kg. During my use of it I have cooked a variety of food including steak, pancakes and an omelette. In each case, the food cooked evenly (no doubt helped by the solid base). At all times, the handle remained cool to the touch. The deep dishing worked well but there was a couple of times I wished it had a lid to help contain the heat as well as any spatter. It should be noted that Tefal appears to be trying to err on the side of healthy eating which would be why they have concentrated on the non-stick properties of the pan with the belief that the user is not going to be using oil? Further to that belief is the fact that the base is not completely flat, being VERY slightly raised in the centre and with a shallow “trough or groove” running around the outer edge. No doubt to allow any oil or grease runoff to be pulled away from you cooking and ducted to the outer edge. In the centre of the base is a dark reddy coloured circle (approx 45mm dia.) marked “Thermo Signal” and featuring a symbolic hourglass logo. Tefal explains that once the pan has reached a suitable temperature to sear meat, this will all turn a dark crimson to alert you (shown in Photo’s 1 & 2 below). While a great idea, the colour of the circle is much darker than the instructions indicate when the pan is still cold. In fact, it looks just like the image they give of what it should look like when it is hot enough to sear. In practice, I find the red does go slightly darker but the real indication is that the writing “Thermo Signal” and the “hourglass” fade to become all but impossible to see.
Apart from this (very) small criticism, I could not fault the Tefal Multipan in its use. As stated previously, food was cooked evenly and came away very cleanly with the use of a plastic spatula (no metal implements must be used). It’s ideally suited to cooking items such as meat but anything that requires flipping (such as pancakes) was a little more problematic due to the high sides of the pan.
CLEANING This is where the Multipan excells. Tefal claims the “Titanium Non Stick” surface “Up to 3X longer” (sic), although, doesn’t say what it is comparing it to. In my use, the food always came out readily and cleanly. In many cases, all I had to do was let the pan cool and wipe it out with a paper towel. Worst case was some meat “residue” that somewhat stuck to the pan but even this came away easily with a cloth and some warm soapy water. Brilliant!
Nb. While Tefal says you can put the Multipan in a dishwasher, it also says that you must use “gentle detergents such as liquid or gel or powder, not tablets or sachets”. I’m interpreting this as hand wash only. Over the more than three weeks use of this pan, it still appears absolutely as new...with one exception. The underside of the base has changed colour from its original bright silver to more of a lightly tinted gold. This is just from the heat and has absolutely no bearing on its functionality or (I believe) its longevity. Overall, I could not fault the pan. While a little expensive at $119.95 RRP (particularly with no supplied lid), it comes across as a well constructed and functional cooking utensil. It has a two year warranty against manufacturing defects although “the coating guarantee does not cover scratches or discolouration due to ageing or overheating”. Provided the non-stick surface lasts long enough to justify the price, this would seem like a worthy purchase for your kitchen.
What I liked... * Overall feel of quality * No fuss recyclable packaging along with end-use recycling of the pan itself * The non-stick capability (of course) * The “Thermo Signal” dot * Two year warranty
and what I (somewhat) disliked... * High Recommended Retail Price (although if you hunt around it can be found on special for about half that price) for a pan that doesn’t come with a lid.
If there is ever an issue with the non-stick coating for this pan, I will return to this review and add an update.

Spoilt by SPEED, EVEN DISTRIBUTION and CLEANLINESS – Welcome to Tefal land, where magic flows free and life lessons are learnt. No doubt you’d feel the same of you were to throw a glorious meal for family and friends most nights. The secret that Tefal don’t mention is that you can use it during the day too! Who would have thought?! (yes, I am exhibiting sarcasm fluently) As a lover of bonafide,… Read more
well-prepared home cooking, the Tefal Ultimate Induction Non-Stick 26cm Multipan was welcomed lovingly to the household here. First impressions showed a tool that is well-built and well-presented. I can’t comment on the original packaging as I received the Tefal in alternate packaging to the original.
The handle is always nice and cool to the touch, while the pan itself heats quickly and evenly. The pan is always dictated by the means, consistency, and distribution of heating, so it was decided to use the Tefal Ultimate purely on an induction cooker. It maintained even and consistent heat while being used at this household, without fail every time.
A variety of dinner-meals and sweet-deserts were easily whipped-up in the Tefal. Both time and efficiency were noted. The Tefal maintained temperature every time, impressing the ‘Capitan of the Kitchen’ each use, noting specifically that given the fast heating offered by the induction cooker, the Tefal Ultimate was amazing to heat up both even and fast.
The retail price for the Tefal Ultimate Induction Non-Stick 26cm Multipan sits around the $60-$70 mark if you look online (at the time of writing). Given the reliability, distribution and ease of operation, I feel the price advertised to be justified.
A few meals of a few varieties can be seen below in the attached photos.
The Tefal Ultimate Non-Stick 26cm pan received the nickname ‘Ultimate’ and was a hot item at dinner parties in this household.
Let’s recap -
Big Smiles: Speed, fast to heat, even heat distribution, cool to touch (handle), perfect size, not-stick or scratch, easy cleaning.
Big Frowns: There are genuinely no negative comments that this household can think of.
So the big question… should you get one? This household unanimously votes YES!
If it’s a Multipan of this size that you’re looking for, you can’t beat the Tefal Ultimate Non-Stick 26cm Multipan.

Another good Tefal Product – Tefal Ultimate Non-Stick Induction Multipan 26cm Black INTRODUCTION The item arrived well packed in a large box as part of a subsequent report for Product Review. The pan arrived without lid and that may not be a problem in the EU as lid sizes are most likely standardised and having a 26cm lid for any household is expected. Standardisation in… Read more
the EU has resulted in fewer lids to be required. The 26cm refers to the diameter at the top, the bottom diameter is smaller and will fit most induction heaters. The top features two depressions (spouts) for pouring; one is smaller than the other. The product is manufactured in France and comes with a colourful piece of carton for the instructions featuring most languages and lists many claims. The retail price in Perth for this product ranges from $70 to $80.
THE CLAIMS
Tefal claims to be “World No 1 in Cookware” on the carton and lists as the sources of this claim the publications Euromonitor and the Home and Garden 2019 edition. The warranty guarantees the unit for 24 months. The “Titanium Durable Non-Stick Coating” claims to last up to three times longer and is considered to be cadmium and lead free. Looking at the bottom I noticed what look like circular aluminium or stainless-steel discs embedded into the steel bottom of the pan and being non-magnetic may have something to do with the claims of “Superior Induction”, “Thermo-Fusion Plus”, “Induction Technology”, and “Fast and Even Cooking”. If it is aluminium or SS, then it would ensure that there are small areas not heating up like the steel via induction to make the non-stick coating last longer by keeping it cooler? An older Tefal pan we have been using certainly does not have this feature.
The bottom of the pan has a feature called the “Thermo Signal”. When the “hourglass” disappears and the Thermo Signal logo turns full red, then the pan is perfectly preheated and ready to cook. The coating is guaranteed up to a temperature of 175 degrees and the pan is not microwave safe. Before the first use washing is recommended and so is a covering of the coating with oil. I suspect a covering with oil is a recommended procedure with any non-stick coating to make the coating last longer as there is a better heat transfer to the food. There are suggestions on how to position the pan on the hob to ensure the handle does not get too hot.
As expected, the coating does not like any whisks or sharp utensils and hand washing with a non-abrasive sponge is recommended. In the dishwasher gentle detergents, such as liquid or gel or powder are preferred, not tablets or sachets. The pan without the handle can be recycled.
The customer helpline for Australia is given as 1300 307 824 (www.tefal.com.au) and 0800 700 711 (www.tefal.co.nz) for New Zealand.
THE COUNTERCLAIMS FROM OLDER REVIEWS
Older reviews of Tefal non-stick pans paint a very non-flattering picture of the non-stick coating and the customer service. With the coating peeling off into the food before the two-year warranty period has expired and unresponsive consumer service at retailers and at the helpline. Customers trying to return faulty pans within the warranty period are told they have overheated the pan to cause the coating to peel off. Another claim is suggesting the feature of the “Thermo Signal” disappears within the warranty period. The majority of reviews from before 2020 advise not to purchase Tefal pans due to problems with the coating. Our Tefal pan purchased from before 2020 certainly did not show up any problems.
OUR EXPERIENCE
Having used this pan now regularly for one month and being careful to wipe the coating with oil we cannot fault this unit. We follow the recommended cleaning procedures with hand washing and, in the dishwasher have decided to use powder instead of more aggressive satchels. With older coatings having been made from Teflon, a plastic, one is used to not to scratch the surface anyway unlike bare steel or aluminium. The temperature shows up on the LCD screen of the induction cooker, which is our preferred cooker due to “free” electricity from a solar PV installation. With a gas cooker it might just be possible to exceed the max. temperature of 175 degrees and damage the coating as there is no feedback of the temperature. The handle has become loose fairly quickly.
The fanciful claims of the “Titanium Durable Non-Stick Coating” lasting three times longer seem to suggest Tefal worked on improving the coating and present-day purchasers will no longer experience any problems.

TEFAL ULTIMATE INDUCTION NON STICK 26CM PAN - A WORTHWHILE INVESTMENT – I received this pan on June 29, 2022, and have used it to date, July 25, 2022, at least 30 plus times during that timeframe. When I unpacked the pan, I was impressed with the look and the size but very impressed with the high/deep sides (approx. 7cm). It is a little on the heavier side but not too heavy, having arthritic hands I did not have any… Read more · 1
issues handling this item.
Checking this item out on the internet I found that the Tefal official site has a RRP of $130.00 but I have found other sites offering a much more realistic price, eg Peter's of Kensington had it for sale at $64.00 so it is worth checking around before purchasing.
As to the viability of the Teflon coating I do not believe it is possible to determine or judge this issue until the pan has been used for about twelve months. Other companies advertise their Teflon products as long lasting but within a year they deteriorate so it remains to be seen how this will go, however, as Tefal suggest it is 3X stronger this will be something to watch. I have only used bamboo or silicone tools when using the pan, as recommended.
The pan is a great size 26cm, it does not come with a lid and maybe this could be offered separately, I do not believe it should be sold with a lid, which would add to the price. I used a 26cm glass lid from another saucepan and this worked well. The deep sides made it very easy to stir the contents and did not splash over the side, as with other pans of this type.
Cleaning was a breeze, I normally toss everything into the dishwasher but as it was recommended to hand wash this item, I have done so and it is so easy. Washed and ready to go again in a couple of minutes.
I had no sticking issues with anything I cooked, ranging from: - French Onion Soup - sauted the onions etc. and added the liquid, the deep side of this pan made making this so much easier to contain and I only had one pan to wash; - Pancakes, even the first one was presentable - they slide out so easily; - Spanish Tortilla (omelette containing potatoes and onion), using this pan for the first time in years I was able to slide the tortilla out and return to the pan with no sticking ( as this was so easy, I suggest it would also make the cooking of Rosti easier); - Porridge: I prefer to cook my rolled oats on the stove and this is the first time there has never been an issue with cleaning the pan/saucepan- I was most impressed with how easy it was to clean after cooking porridge.
Overall, I would recommend this pan to anyone seeking a quality, Teflon coated, non stick pan, it is a little highly priced but worth the investment. I was most impressed with how having higher sides made the use of the pan more flexible and much more useful than just a frying pan. It will be my "go to" kitchen item in the future.

Tefal Multipan - Versatility and Perfect Pan for the Smaller Kitchen – When the Tefal Ultimate "Multipan" arrived, I was keen to put it through its paces to see if it really lived up to it's name. First Impressions The first thing I noticed when I unpacked it is its weight. At approx 1.2kg, it has quite a heft but feels solid and well made. It has a diameter of 26cm (10.2 inches) but what distinguishes the Tefal… Read more
multipan from other frypans and woks in my kitchen is that the pan is deeper than an average fry pan at 75mm high (3 inches), featuring two pouring lips on either side and the round Thermo-Signal™ indicator in the centre of the pan. The handle has a contoured feel that is comfortable to hold and feels balanced. For anyone that gets annoyed with loose handles, they will be happy to know that multipan has a handle that can be easily re-tightened with a 3mm allen (hex) key.
Conclusion I will be perfectly honest that right from the start of this review (which lasted just over 3 weeks), I made it a point to try using only this pan instead of my other frying pans, woks and skillets. I can now tell you that the Tefal Multipan lived up to it name and has become an indispensable item in my kitchen and easily, my favourite pan for the following reason. If you have a smaller kitchen and space is an issue for you or you are like me and like the convenience of using only one of two pans in cooking, and is easy to wash - then the Tefal Multipan is definitely for you.
The Good - Weight : Solid without being unwieldy. I loved the feel of it and had no trouble picking it up or tossing when stir frying. But my adult daughter did comment that it was a little too heavy for her - Heat Distribution : Having used this pan on both a gas stovetop and portable induction stove, I found the heat very even and had no problems in cooking even when the pan was absolutely full - Thermo-Signal™ : This has to be hands down my favourite feature. When the pan is pre-heated to the perfect temperature for cooking, the words "thermal signal" and hourglass in the centre of the pan fades away and you are ready to go. I seared a couple of sirloin steaks using this feature and they turned out beautifully. - Easy-to-clean : The multipan is a breeze to wash. Just a gentle scrub with a soft sponge with detergent is all it has ever needed. However, how long this lasts is anyone's guess but I have been impressed so far. Many lesser brands have started off with promise but failed within 6 weeks or so. - Handle : Solid, comfortable and easily re-tightened, if needed. It claims to be oven safe but I did not try this as baking is not my thing - Safe : I absolutely love non-stick pots and pans as they make life easy when cleaning up, but I am also very health conscious about the chemicals and materials used to create the non-stick surfaces and their potential long-term harmful effects on humans. Based on the claims that this product does not have cadmium or lead and is manufactured under stricter controls than current food contact regulations, it is reassuring.
The Bad - The Titanium Non stick multipan boasts a "Titanium" coating that lasts up to 3x longer than Tefal's standard titanium coating. In standard use over the three weeks, I did manage to knick the top edge of the pan, exposing the metal underneath. So the titanium coating may be tough but it is not indestructible. Thankfully, the cooking surface has been resilient and using wooden and silicon cooking utensils has not left a single scratch. In washing, I have been careful using only a soft sponge and it has been 100% fine. - Weight : As I mentioned earlier, I did not have a problem with the weight but some people might find a pan weighing 1.2 kg a little heavy. This is a personal preference I think - Being a multipan, I would have loved to see this pan come with a cover. I used my own but I think to cement it's place as a multi function pan, a glass cover with silicon edge would have been a nice touch from Tefal.
Overall If you are looking for a versatile cooking pan that functions well, is easy to clean, replaces other pans in the kitchen to save space and looks good, the Tefal Ultimate Multipan could be your ideal solution. from cooking eggs and bacon, stir fry, pasta, steaks, and even cooking rice, it worked a charm. This has become an indispensable item in my kitchen and has revived my love of Tefal cookware again.
A genuinely usable “do-most-things” pan at a good price – (Note: provided as part of Productreview.com.au’s Ambassador program. Product tested daily for approximately three (3) weeks for review.) Imagine the love child of a saucepan, a wok and a medium-sized non-stick frying pan: that’s essentially what the Tefal Multipan is. Being a jack of all trades generally means being a master of none, but in use… Read more
the Multipan actually proved more than competent in most tasks thrown at it.
Pros: - It’s actually a properly useful and practical “one pan” that can handle frying, boiling water, reheating stews and curries, poaching eggs and basic stir frying without any issues whatsoever.
- The high sides do an admirable job of keeping grease and muck off your cooktop while frying. This feature alone is worth the price of admission, honestly. They also make it easier to properly sear the fat on your chops and steaks - which is of course key to achieving true happiness in life.
- The 26cm/4.2L size is big enough to cook a one-pan meal or multiple pieces of meat etc. comfortably without being huge or super heavy.
- The thick/heavy (and induction compatible) base holds heat well. Admittedly the Multipan isn’t very “wok” ish due to its larger flat base, but works arguably better on ceramic hotplates than most actual woks when stir frying.
- Non-stick coating actually works well, cleans up without effort and, being a new product, is PFOA/PTFE free (a legal requirement these days). Thermo-Signal decal works as advertised, and helps to achieve searing temps without overheating (and damaging) the non-stick coating.
- Plastic handle is rated to 175 degrees C for finishing off dishes (or just keeping them warm) in the oven.
Cons: - High sides do get in the way with flipping one’s breakfast omelette, and presumably other foods (pancakes etc.) that require a low-angle-of-spatula attack. My ancient, well-seasoned dedicated cast-iron pan won’t be forced into early retirement soon. But in fairness, that’s about the only stove-top task the Multipan fell slightly short on.
- Doesn’t come with a lid (though being a standard size it shouldn’t be hard to find one to suit.)
- No matter how much titanium, diamonds or ceramics manufacturers put in, the life of any non-stick coating will always be inversely proportional to how much abuse it cops. Don’t overheat them, use wood/plastic utensils, let them cool down before washing in hot soapy water. In three weeks of daily usage the Tefal Multipan isn’t showing any wear or damage yet - not that I’d expect it to - but long term it remains to be seen how durable the coating is.
Bottom line:
The Tefal Multipan honestly did a much better than expected job of replacing both my main frying pans (one aluminium, one cast iron) and wok (carbon steel) for the past few weeks. It heats up fast even on plain-jane ceramic plates, retains that heat well when stir frying meat and veggies (about 70% of my cooking) and is just as useful warming a curry or boiling water for poached eggs. The size is proper Goldilocks and cleans up quickly with just hot soapy water.
At an RRP of $129 it’s a fair value: definitely more expensive than your typical cheap $30 supermarket/Kmart pans, but hardly expensive compared to many other $200+ options either. At current street prices (~$70) though it represents excellent value.
Tefal, very, very good for the price – Update: It's now 2.5 years in, and the Tefals are still in use, well, some are. They have succumbed to damage, as regular use and cleaning have dampened the non-stick coating's ability to be non-stick. We still use them, and they are still non-stick enough, but it gets to a point where you wonder if any of that coating is coming off, and I don't… Read more · 1
recall a safety statement about being PFAS-free. We have other pans we prefer now. One of them is still new, but only because we don't use it (it's the deep pan, but it's not big enough for two chicken breasts)
The first thing you notice when you pick up a Tefal frying pan is its weight—well, lack of it. It's great for the elderly, but weight is not a measure of quality. All aluminium frying pans are light. The build quality is excellent, far better than my old Tefal (which was a bottom-of-the-range pan that has served me well enough).
The Multipan has good depth and nice pouring spouts (bonus), but it compromises the size of the base as the 26cm width is measured at the opening and tapers in a little.
It's classified as suitable for 4 people. Well, yeah, it can handle 4 eggs, but only 3 slices of bacon. I really need a 32cm version for my family of 4! (The only reason it lost a star is that I wish I could give it 4.5 stars.) . I made a rather unfair comparison between the Tefal and an iittala (European) hefty stainless steel (also Nonstick) frying pan. No competition, The iittala heats up quicker, requires a lower heat setting on the induction cook top for the same amount of heat, and cooks more evenly. The iittala I received free many years ago when I bought ovens, and it is not a brand that is readily available in Australia, and I know why. The price of that pan is 4 times that of the Tefal! I would certainly buy the Tefal over the iitala as its bang-for-bucks proposition is unquestionable.
Compared to my other aluminium frying pans (one older Tefal, one new master chef), the Tefal Ultimate induction was quicker (to heat up) than the old Tefal and marginally quicker / similar to the other. To be honest, you would never be concerned about its heating time or the energy used. Its Thermo-Fusion™+ induction technology did produce a very even cooking area, which is appreciated. Shallow-frying thick crumbed chicken breasts (chicken schnitzels) ensures they all cook evenly. Well done, Tefal.
All of Tefal's new frying pans have excellent non-stick abilities. This product is middle-tier, i.e., the Non-Stick coating is 3x tougher than their basic range, so time will tell if it's any better. Considering its price, it can be considered disposable after 4 or 5 years of heavy usage. However, keep the receipt, as this product is repairable for up to 10 years!
There are other added benefits of this range, like using the pan in the oven up to 175 degrees. (Note: Normally, you would have to remove the handle on an Ingenio Range Tefal; this is not removable as it's heat compatible.) The added depth allows it to be used for stir-fries, curries, small casseroles, and even heating water. There is a larger version that will double as a WOK (Actually, they call it a WOK, not sure the bottom is flat, I really want a wider version of this, I am repeating myself).
As with all Tefal non-stick frying pans, there is the Thermo-Signal™ technology (a red spot in the centre of the pan that tells you when the pan is ready), which is a good indicator of when to start cooking.
Cleaning these pans is a doddle. Please do not put them in the dishwasher (despite claimed limited capability, by choosing non-harsh cleaning tablets, etc.); it's not worth the risk. Quickly wipe with a paper towel to collect crumbs/oils, etc. (into Food Organic's bin), then soapy sponge, rinse. DONE!
The bottom line: it's a winner. Nice looking, well-made, quality frying pan worth buying.

All the Quality you could want in a pan – Tefal Ultimate Induction Non-Stick Multipan 26cm About the Unit. On unpacking I found the new multipan to be very much in the Tefal mould. This unit is situated in the middle of the Tefal Non-stick range of pots & pans (the Non-Stick coating 3x tougher than their basic range but under their 6x tougher all-new Titanium Anti-Scratch Coating top the… Read more
line range). Finish was of their usual high standard that I have come to expect from this manufacturer (as I already own 4 of their units 3 frying pans ranging from 20cm to 28cm & their 28cm Wok). The Thermo-Signal™ technology (red spot in the centre of the pan which tells you when the pan is ready) works well and is a good indicator as to when to start cooking. The unit worked well on my induction stovetop heating up quickly showing no apparent hot spots across the surface of the pan, a good even spread of heat across the entire surface. The unit is rated as oven safe to 175 deg C & I tested it at 170deg C with no problems, I don’t normally cook in the oven with my frying pans but if I did and was a regular at it I would probably purchase one of the Tefal range featuring the stainless steel handles (or one of the pans from their stainless steel range), just to play it safe, you never know how accurate your oven thermostat is. This pan has a deep lip with a great angle for tossing the ingredients when stir frying which I found great if fact it’s probably the best pan that I have ever used for tossing & mixing the ingredients. I have attached a photo of the multipan alongside of my 20cm pan & 28cm Wok to give you an idea of the excellent depth of this unit, in fact its overall height is the same as their Wok as can be seen in the photo. On each side of the pan is a pouring lip, narrow on one side with a wider one on the opposite side to help make dishing up an easier affair. These pouring lips can be seen in the photo of the three Tefal Pans. General cleaning of the pan is just a simple soap & water job using A dish cloth to rub of the food scraps, I have yet to have any food sticking to the surface. Cooking. Being called a multipan by the manufacturers, when it was time to cook I gave this unit a good cross section of jobs to perform: Bacon & eggs with French toast, cooked at 6 on the cooktop, no oil & just butter on the French toast, all cooked well with no sticking at all on any of the ingredients the egg just slid out on tipping the pan, photo attached. Tempura Chicken, 10ml oil (OK so I skimped on oil) in the pan and away we went, cooked well turning the chicken (angled slices of breast) over half way through the cooking process the chicken coloured well & remained moist, the pan was easy to clean with paper towel to wipe out the excess oil & crumbs & then a normal dip in the sink in the washing up water, being just the two of us the dish washer only get used once or twice a year. Phot attached. As mentioned above oven safe, so the pan was introduced to my oven with a batch of bread rolls filling the pan. These were cooked at 170deg C for 25 minutes with good results with no problems incurred, rolls came out well cooked, soft & fluffy (I use Ben Ferney Flour Mills soft roll mix just add water & yeast). Photos attached. Tried a bit of Indian cuisine with a Butter Chicken recipe, worked well with good results, even cooking easy cleaning what more could you want, photo attached. Fried Rice was another I tried with great results, family was visiting for an evening meal, and I forgot to take a photo for this one, sorry. Tried a few different stir Frys (Chicken based) one with glass noodles & one with soba noodles, using a soy-based sauce with one and a yakisoba sauce with the other, great result both times, phots below. My wife tried omelettes and frying sausages with good results on both occasions, I find this pan great to use & expect it to last for several years of normal use, I have the same non-stick coating on my other pans & some are two to three years old and are wearing well unlike other brands I have used which have started to fail after six months. The pans are not in the lower price range, but quality does come at a price and for those who are on a tight budget his pan will double across the range of frying pan to Wok cutting out the need to purchase multiple pans for your stove top. I fully recommend this unit.
A product I had never thought about but which is SOOOO useful – This multipan is a very versatile and useful product. My wife and I have generally only ever used frypans or woks, so having a multipan which serves multiple purposes is a bit new. Part of what is good is the multipan's size. At 26cm it is only fractionally less than our Tefal 30cm wok in overall width. The flat bottom sits on a normal gas burner… Read more
though so it is more stable. It is also lighter (1.2kg) compared to our wok (1.5kg).
It is great when you need to cook or sear a protein (chicken, beef, or pork) but then need to add other ingredients to simmer with it all. We did not get a lid but we will look to find one as that would also help. We have tried it with home-made seafood chowder, savoury mince, and a tom yum soup, and it worked well with everything. There is a pouring spout which is really good to use if you need to drain-off excess liquid or to transfer the contents for serving or storage.
We have a gas cooktop but one of the attractions is that the multipan is also designed to be used on induction cooktops. When we update our kitchen we may go in that direction so this can certainly make the transition with us.

A Superb and Versatile Frying Pan – 1. While using the Tefal Ultimate "All Hobs+Induction" 26cm Multipan for the last few weeks, a thought kept popping into my mind - "Why haven't I been using a deep frying pan like this for all of my life? Instead of using all those shallow ones that always make a mess I have to clean up?" The answer, as best I can tell, its because I was… Read more
using shallow pans the way my mum did. I won't be doing that in future.
Description. 2. The pan is 26 cm across the top, which tapers down to around 20cm to actually cook on, and has about 7cm in depth. It contains a pouring lip on each side, and has a Thermo-Signal feature where - "the hourglass disappears and the Thermo-Signal turns full red when the pan is perfectly pre-heated and ready to cook". Also, the pan is noticeably a lot heavier than all our other pans.
3. The packaging states that the pan is perfect for searing - and illustrates the Thermo-Signal feature - also saying that its Titanium non-stick coating lasts "3X Longer", and claims to have "Superior Induction."
Assessment of Claims. 4. The claim that it is perfect for searing I did not assess, as I am not competent to do so. I didn't use the Thermo-Signal feature as I don't like searing steaks and letting them rest, the way many people do. Others may like cooking medium-rare steaks, but to me they are medium-raw. Also, I never stir fry vegetables in a wok-like manner as they do in restaurants.
5. The claim that the non-stick is 3X longer is something I cannot fully assess for many months or years yet. However, as can be seen in the photos below I gave the pan a good work out, with foods which usually gives my other non-stick pans a tough time after a a few uses, which makes them more difficult to clean. But the Tefal pan currently looks as brand new as the first day I got it, and it has been simple to clean - never having had to even rub hard with a sponge to remove any cooking residues.
6. The claim that it has Superior Induction was easy enough to assess. Our Induction stove has 10 heat settings, and I wound up using a setting of one less that what I'd normally use with all my other pans, to get the same heating effect. So yes, it has superior induction.
The Pros. 7. Frying was a pleasure in the 7cm deep pan as very little, if any, hot oil droplets sprayed over the side to require stove cleaning.
8. My wife liked the extra metal on it, She said she had an easier time not burning vegetables and the like in the initial stages of making the bases for Beef Stroganoff and spaghetti sauce.
9. My wife got a lid off another 26cm pan she had, and used it with the Tefal pan. It fitted perfectly and worked well. And she found that having the pouring lip on the side of the pan together with the lid, made it simple to drain excess water or oil off what she was cooking, This was in sharp contrast to trying to do the same thing by having to hold the lid slightly ajar when pouring from a regular pan without the lip.
10. As I said above, the pan is simple to clean - never requiring more than a sponge, hot water and dish washing liquid.
The Cons. 11. While my wife and I had no problem using the Tefal pan, it is heavy. I can imagine that someone who is either frail or suffering from Carpal Tunnel may have some difficulty lifting it when full, because of its relatively greater weight compared to other typical similarly sized pans.
12. The pan can be used in ovens up to 175C which is a good thing for the versatility of using the pan. But most oven cooking recipes and purchased products say to cook at 180C or higher. Thus there is the possibility that someone may forget that 175C upper limit, and distort or damage the handle material.
Sample Pictures. 13. Below are some pictures of the Tefal pan in use, which gives one an idea of what can easily be cooked within its 26cm size range. In order, a. Sausage and kebabs, b. Steak and Black Bean noodles with stir fry vegetables, c. Hamburgers, d. Beef Stroganoff with and without the lid, which was taken from another 26cm pan and lid set, e. Salami and eggs for a sandwich ( eggs are smashed and thoroughly cooked. I hate runny eggs), f. Beef Teriyaki and Stir fry vegetables. g. More hamburgers, and h. Spaghetti Sauce.
Conclusion. 14. Both my wife and I have been unexpectedly very delighted with both the performance and ease maintenance of this excellent Tefal Multipan.
Great pan. Quite heavy (as one would expect)! – As an ambassador for Product Review we were sent his pan to use and review. We are writing this as unbiased as possible after using it. Good news: A good sized pan for making a family meal. The non-stick function of the pan is excellent. We used it to fry lamb chops, bacon and it seared beef effortlessly. We tried scrambled egg and overcooked… Read more
it a bit to see how the non stick performed. We first used paper towels which worked well but a quick wipe over with slightly soapy water worked really well. See photos. It heats quickly and evenly. The heat must be managed so pan doesn't overheat as described in the instructions. It's very easy to clean. Only needs wiping gently with soapy warm water, or gently wiped with a dishwashing sponge or soft brush. Residual fat can be easily poured out of pan.
Not so bad news:
Did take a while to completely clean the pan of the residual fat from the lamb chops. Probably due to the fact that it was it's first use. Paper towels worked well. Bacon and egg or steak was no problem. We generally poach or scramble our eggs and they did not stick at all. It is on the heavier side of pans (1.2 kg) due to the solid base.....certainly not unmanageable for the average cook.
Cooking meals without any added fat or oil is a really healthy style of cooking. We will be purchasing a smaller size Tefal pan with the same features for smaller meals to compliment this pan.
Value for money is a tricky question. It's more expensive that the run-of-the-mill non stick pans generally available at all the supermarkets, but it will probably last much longer and remain non-stick long after the other pans are in the bin. Probably better for the environment as a result. It also feels more substantial and will make for better and more healthy meals.
If non metallic kitchen tools are used it will definitely last for a long time.

Quality high side multipan from Tefal – This 26cm multipan is quality that you know from Tefal and the perfect size for a family of 4. Made in France and weighing 1.2kg (1195g) the pan is easy to hold and control. Heat dissipation is uniform across the non-stick cooking surface. This pan is suitable for induction, gas and electric stove tops. The titanium non-stick surface is rated to… Read more
last x3 times longer which allows for cooking with less fat or oil. Clean-up is a breeze.
The deep sides help to contain splatter and food when cooking. We use the Tefal Multipan pan for shallow fry chicken or fried rice. Perfect. This pan is also suitable for oven use to 175º C if you’re into that style of cooling.
The “Thermo-Signal” (Red dot in the centre of the pan) turns dark when the temperature is right for searing meats. The formed secure handle remains cool to the touch unlike some other fry pans that can be uncomfortable or dangerous when used on the stove top..
The titanium non-stick coating complies with regulations for surfaces that come into contact with food and it is recommended that sharp utensils are not used that may compromise the surface integrity.
This is a quality frypan with great benefits for cooking and clean up from Tefal. When the pan has passed its useful lifespan you can feel comfortable that the metal can be recycled. This may take quite some time as a quality pan will last many years.

Fantastic all-rounder – I was given the Tefal Ultimate Induction Non-Stick Multipan 26cm to put through its paces, and it didn't disappoint! I have been using it for a few weeks on my induction cooktop. Most of my cookware is stainless steel, I haven't used a non-stick pan in years (probably put off by those cheap supermarket pans from the 1990s!). My biggest gripes… Read more
with stainless steel are how difficult it can be to clean, and how much oil you need to use, so I was excited to try this Tefal non-stick pan.
This pan is kitchen game-changer. It's really versatile. You can use it as a wok, a fry pan, a grill or to boil liquids in. I'd love it if it came with a lid but it's still a great pan without it. If you're in a smaller kitchen, or a caravan, this pan will cover a lot of your needs without having to buy multiple pans.
My favourite things about the pan:
-Good quality and very well constructed. Nice heavy base and a rock-solid non-stick surface
-Multiple uses. You don't need a heap of separate pans, this one will do the lot.
-The pouring lip. There are actually two "lips" on the pan. One is narrow and brilliant for pouring liquids off. I wish all pans had this! The other is wider and flatter. You can pour thicker stuff from that side (casseroles, thick sauces etc) but it's also a great place to rest your spatula.
-Easy to clean. Ridiculously easy to clean!! It literally just wipes clean, or you can just swish a bit of water with dishwasher liquid around and rinse. I haven't been able to make anything stick to it - and I've tried!
-Comfortable handle that doesn't get hot
-Great size. Big enough for family cooking, but versatile enough to handle smaller quantities too.
What I would change:
- It would be great if it came with a lid
- The centre is higher than the edges so if you are using small amounts of liquid or oil then these will run to the edges and not coat the bottom evenly. But I'm assuming this is a feature of non-stick pans, liquids are designed to "run off" and it does make it easy to pour them off.
Things I tested:
- Eggs. Eggs are my nemesis when it comes to cleaning regular pans, but just a couple of wipes with a cloth and the multipan is clean. It makes really smooth omelettes with no sticking, and scrambled eggs just slide out of the pan. I've attached a photo of the omelette and a video showing the cleaning after making scrambled eggs.
- Meat. I'm a vegetarian but my husband likes his steak. He gave it a go with various cuts of meat and a few meat dishes. He loved how evenly it browns, and there is no sticking to the bottom.
-Vegetable noodle stir-fry and fried rice. I think stir fries are one of my favourite things to cook in the Multipan. You can use it like a wok, and the sides of the pan cook as well as the base. No mess, easy to toss the ingredients around and I don't have to use much oil.
-Pancakes. You can imagine how easy these were to flip in this pan! No sticking, and very even cooking.
-Pasta sauce. Sauces are great to cook in this pan. You don't have to constantly stir as nothing sticks to the bottom.
A few caveats from me. The pan has had heavy use for several weeks and still looks brand new. But I haven't used it long enough to comment on the longevity of the non-stick surface. I only used silicone and plastic utensils on the surface so I'm not sure how it handles metal. I also didn't put it through the dishwasher, I hand washed only.
If you're thinking of going non-stick I would recommend this pan as your starting point. It's great bang for your buck as it replaces quite a few separate pans. You'll be cooking with less oil and enjoying easy cleaning. It would make a great wedding / housewarming present. Highly recommend!
The best ever! – *EDIT 12m later:* She's still as good as day 1! Nothing sticks and its working as perfectly as the day we got it. Absolutely love this pan and will definitely be buying more. wow its the best thing ever! The pros: - Handle doesn't get hot even when cooking on gas. - I like that the handle is plastic as opposed to steel that can often get hot and require extra purchases of silicone handle covers or the use of tea towels (hello fire risk when using gas) etc to be able to move the pot. - Super even cooking surface, everywhere gets hot and cooks very evenly with no burning parts at all. It browned a lot of onions in no time but didn't leave some burnt and others raw. - THE SIDES EVEN COOK! (Excuse my excitement here but I've not had a pan do this before other than our giant wok) The sides cook just as evenly as the bottom without burning sauces or foods! - The higher sides gives a good oven like effect on the food reflecting heat back into the food which shortens the cooking time. - The non stick is absolutely flawless. Nothing's stuck on! Eggs, sauces, sausages, cheese, chicken and mince all just slide right out of the pan. My husband put the pan to the test and tried to burn an egg on it and it still slid right off! - The superior non stick = using less oils and butters etc in the pan to stop food sticking. - LOVE the side pooring spouts built into the design. They make getting sauces and wetter foods out so much easier and mess free. - The size is great. You can actually fit a heap in this pan, eg 1kg cut up sausages and veggies and sauce making things like curry sausages. You could feed a large family with 1 pan no worries. - The higher sides means wetter foods like spag bol don't splatter over the sides making a mess and it means I can use the saucepan for the pasta while its cooking. - Solid construction, feels like a well built, good solid pan, but still light in your hands and easy to handle. - SUPER easy to wipe/wash clean because the non stick is just that good. It wipes clean so effortlessly.
Things that could be better: - I wish it came with a lid. I'd love a lid to be able to cover the food for a steamier slower cook and to be able to leave it sit for a little bit. That's my only gripe about this pan. Everything else is absolutely perfect.
All in all we are really surprised and very impressed with this pan. We will be throwing out all our cheapy old pots now and making the investment into Tefal stuff for sure. I had no idea pots could be so good lol.
