JL8006 DVR good unit. Does well records plays does a TV Guide – Personally the best unit Ive had for some time. JL8006 DVR. Easy menu to deal with, never had a problem with recordings or viewing same, could use a frame advance in the freeze frame/pause mode, but hey if thats all I can complain about then its a good unit. Records one channel you watch another, good stuff. ( IMHO ) Ive owned this one for about 7… Read more

years now..... & yes thats why Im here.... It finally kicked the bucket & wouldnt start again.. So I went looking for another one I like it that much. ( & found one. Testing this one out now. ) Oh, Heres something else I didnt like??? it was a bit hard to rename titles of all the shows I recorded. Not having a manual didnt bother me... it just took a bit of testing to work out how to rename titles. I had easy 3 pages of titles to watch. I opened it up & found a little capacitor had burst. Maybe I can get a capacitor from Dick Smith & fix it? : )))

Not worth a pinch -------- – This is my third Thompson PVR and this is the second time it died. Mind you the Strong is not much better nor is my keyboard. I mean the bloody thing died literally mid recording and no one seems to know where I can get it repaired and the ones I asked don't want to touch it so it looks like a bin job, just don't bloody buy one.  Show details

Great unit. Highly recommended – I bought my Thomson DVR over 6 years ago & its been the best unit Ive had yet. A short start time, easy to use & navigate the menu, tunes channels quickly even when they add new channels on you. Simple to edit recording time adjustments, ( because we all know the program schedules are never correct from the TV channels.( See Colin's remarks )) … Read more

Personally Ive never know a program for 8.30 pm to start at 8.30 nor finish at the designated time Colin... Just add 10 or so minutes to the finish time via the schedule edit feature ( the green button bro ).

I have several pages of recordings to select & watch. Each recording averages at 5 hours, so more than 300 hours of data/movies so far. I wish it had a freeze frame or frame advance feature. Mine has been sensational, I couldnt be happier with it. The one thing I havent worked out is how to rename the titles of recordings. Thats why Im here today. I have time to read the manual if I can find one. .Any help finding one would be appreciated. Thanks.

Oh & Kevin... yours is Fracked!!!

Great little unit no problems at all! – I just bought a Thompson Set Top Box DH 1685P its a great little unit, easy start up, runs cool, important to select antenna power off in menu as it stated " antenna overload" . Records good logical controls- read guide! To top it off I got it in the op shop! (Very cheap.) Can't understand all the negative reports. The people who are satisfied… Read more

don't usually trouble themselves to say a good word - a pity. Don't know how long it will last for but its a little ripper so far!

A product you have to be extremely unlucky to finish up with – Interface hard and tedious to navigate Storage space average Recording quality was good Unit was never reliable one was never confident it would record on time and record the complete program Same problems as others experienced, eventually lost power and is not worth spending time or money on repairs Not worth writing about  Show details

Useless – It's terrible every time you turn it of it retunes itself channels mute by themselves then you have to turn it off then back on and you lose programming again! Only records sometimes this is the 3rd one I've replaced so it has to be a problem with the set. Stay away it will do you're head in.

Worst recorder ever – It misses recordings , locks up, turns itself on through the night even though it recording nothing. Do not waste your time with this. DO NOT BUY THIS, pay a few more dollars for a reputable brand. I won't even give it 1 Star rating but have to it seems

Worst product ever – Useless, threw it in the garbage, not even worth recycling, same problems as everyone else has with it. remote dead, locks up, slow.

Nearly unworkable – Bought this unit as it was fairly cheap. Found the unit extremely slow and locked up constantly. It failed in just about every area of use. Took it back after trying to find a update for the firmware, but that was a lost cause. The salesman said that nearly all failed in someway. We bought a HUMAX afterwards. Cheap

A disappointment – It is supposed to be a twin tuner but you can't record two shows that overlap. I previously had a DGTEC twin tuner that could record two different channels at the same time and let you watch another channel if it was on the same band eg record 72 and 90 while watching 73. won't record 2 shows simultaneously

Poor tuner, if you record one by schedule and watch another channel you have a flashing red light… Read more (+4 replies)
