Tom Tom GO 520 / 620

Good GPS better than the previous one that I replace it with – Brought this TomTom Go 620 because it has Wi-Fi and World Map. Using it for nearly a year with some minor issues else all is good. Display is much better under bright Australia sun and voice are loud and clear. Will be 5* if the world map didn't work when I first brought it and has to contact the support to get it fixed. The 2nd issues is the registration to my online account is not working but support help me to resolve it. Show details

Is a great device even in spite of the massive fails it had with iOS 13 – This device is great, I do agree about the laggy keyboard, terrible voice recognition and failure for tomtom to connect to iPhones on iOS 13. But now it works perfectly, since the iOS 14 update, it now connect back to my iPhone, to combat the laggy keyboard I use their app MyDrive to send addresses to it. has hands down the best traffic system, I love the ability to see the time of each delay and intensity. This device could definitely use a faster processor and better battery as it lags quite a bit for simple tasks and the battery is hopeless without a charger. I am glad this comes with unlimited maps and speed cameras, it also never loses my location and speed is very accurate. However, some of the speed limits on its mapping system are completely wrong and I’ve requested changes and still nothing. But overall I rate this a 4/5 for its use as a GPS, wireless updates, phone calling and traffic display, it’s other features, not very good.

Gps working fine until 12 months ago – Update 21/10/2023 I lodged a complaint with the dept of fair trading seeking a refund, unfortunately they were not able to get a result for me as they are no longer in Australia. retailer that another gps company will also be leaving Australia so choose carefully.

Tom tom has left Australia and they don't care about service, map is wrong when going from grafton to inverell nsw, does not send you via the Gwydir Highway which is the quickest way in the mornings but will come up with it in the late afternoons. Have been reporting it for over 12 months, they can't fix it, they keep telling me to wait for the next map update and then it will be fixed. Over 12 months and they haven't fixed it. Do not buy tom tom if you want service, it's non existent. Can only email them, very poor service

Passable product with issues but crappy customer service – Had our Tom for some time, so that proof of purchase has disappeared into the mists of time. trying the site. Went through the auto mated process only to find that there was no parameters for my issue. Went to the forum which advised me to go to the site. Was driven to the edge of insanity. Obviously I'm not going to be able to get it repaired and am certainly not going to replace it with another TomTom. Never again!

It worked for 3yrs and died 2 days ago – I bough this tomtom go 520 from Jb hifi in late 2019 and it worked ok, but 2 days ago on half way of driving, it stop Working, not powered on. I lost jb receipt, i try charge in car while driving but no use still not turn on when pressed the power button. Very disappointed – My TomTom kept saying It was up to date, I went onto the TomTom site and found an update on the Australia road map so I payed $85 to download it, then installed it on my TomTom, Now it won’t let me put my truck dimensions into the system as the current map update is not compatible. Unreliable and User Unfriendly – It is totally out of date re major Roads in Perth W A.even after 6 months!!! Definately not User friendly . No prompts if a wrong spelling and looks for roads in other states occasionally before looking looking at my home state (W.A.) Now TomTom have no Telephone Helpline. site, in the hope your Company will do something about it, but no. It's now just so ridiculous that I am researching going to another brand after 20 years with you. Some examples, and in the last 12 months I have travelled all over Australia, 100kph open road speed zones in many areas show up as 50kph on your devices, 50kph speed zones through country towns show up as 80kph on your devices. The main thoroughfare into my home town of Victor Harbor SA is 60kph. Driving into the town is shown as 60kph on your devices which is correct but leaving the town it's shown as 50kph! I estimate that at least 60% of your posted speed limits are incorrect. Will you Company ever try to resolve these problems or are you just going to let your name drag in the dirt?

NO Australian support anymore.. 1300 135 604 Disconnected Only a BOT online which is useless – I did have an older Go520 which died, and the main feature I required was an adjustable overspeed audio alert (which it did have) Excellent for NOT getting minor speeding fines. (see above) Do not here. So now after much frustration, I cannot even talk to an actual person in Australia to sort this out. TomTom used the Covid situation as an excuse to disband their call center. And now have NO representation in Australia. This is disappointing as the older Go 520 was an excellent unit. And once customers realize there is NO support or effective backup, apart from yes or no online answers Logically they will change brands.

waste money – some of the function you have to connect to your phone or bluetooth or Wi-fi . such as alarm of speed camera ... and most of time Go 620 doesnot connect well. you have to restart again. that stupid and waste time. if the GPS have to through your phone to active speed cameras and some others functions, why we need it . just use your phone.  Show details

GREAT MAPS – UPDATE 2023 Touch screen no longer works. I tried rebooting - nothing. No help from Tom Tom. Looks like it is a dud now. Very happy the maps are really good. wouldn't turn on, black screen, nothing. I checked the Tom Tom website and tried the on-line help - absolutely useless, no info at all. Looking at this site I found my answer, just hold the on button (at the rear of the device) for about 30 seconds and it came back on - not sure why Tom Tom couldn't do this - hopeless support Tom Tom.

Support non existent – Was advised by tomtom that my unit was due for up date. Up dated it. Now it wont even turn on. Have tried to contact tomtom support, total waste of time. unable to obtain traffic information – Have had a tomtom replaced because of no traffic.. now have a tomtom 520 and 620 and neither receives traffic through samsung s9 phone.. phone and gps has been set up under guidance of tomtom support... and several times following same procedure by self.. work great in loungeroom but 2 k's up the road it drops out.. cant be a black spot cos tried resetting at different locations during 217K trip NSW/QLD still no go.. otherwise device is great Show details

Not even usable. Cannot believe such a thing exists. It is terrible – It says you can connect the GPS to your phone, well naturally you think you can google stuffs on your phone then transfer the address or the route, but you are wrong, you cannot, you can only use TomTom app to search addresses which doesn't use Google, and virtually has no information about medium or small business, or inside camps addresses. removed the Sims from GPSs, now TomTom GPS cannot get traffic information without connecting to a phone, and their app should run in background which is terrible, drains the battery, keeps showing not connected even when it is connected. It's so stupid product, if I have to use my phone to get this garbage working, then I will use my phone, I would not need a GPS. They advertise a drawback as a feature. If we cannot goggle an address then what does "can be connected to phone mean"? Does it mean please connect it to your phone because we wanted to cut the cost and removed Sims and btw, we didn't bother ourselves to at least create an app which can work properly without killing your phone? Apart from it, it has no traffic information, because it doesn't use Google traffic information and not many people use TomTom GPSs anymore. It forces you to accept sending all your information to TomTom otherwise would not let you use traffic information, which is crappy anyway. Read reviews on Google Play about their app to see what I am talking about. The whole product is a useless device. I asked for returning the product and it is nightmare to find out how you can return it, took me an hour to find links, deliberately hidden , their website pushes you to QA section, put you in a annoying loop, once you finally submit your return request, they keep asking what is wrong? You say it is garbage, has no address information, they say no problem, send us the addresses we will check!!! You say the device doesn't use Google, they say, we didn't say you can, we just say you can connect it to your phone. Was a nightmare discussion, they absolutely think people are fool.
