Worst steriliser – Have only used this a few times and every time it smells burnt, the hot plate has burnt on one half and the bottles don’t sterilise well at all. Bottles are left with residue and seem worse than when I put them in. Terrible Show details
Do not buy – Used a handful of times and stopped working for no reason. Contacted company & they advised it was handlers error & I had run the unit dry. I assured them I hadn't & asked about other faults/ possible reasons. They did not answer my question and instead offered the option of buying a new unit for a discounted price. Why would I buy a new unit when I dont know why my original unit stopped. was not happy with correspondence. Waste of money. Show details
Really bad don't buy – Descaled it weekly but base has gone all brown, even leaving brown residue over bottles and the bottles smell burnt, used it to manufactures instructions for 3 months but have stopped using it now, waste of money. Show details

Arrrhh Hot Plate Disintegrated – I brought my steriliser in March 2019 then had bub in August 2019. Brought this steriliser as I had the same brand 5 years ago with my daughter. It has now been used for 16 weeks. Tonight while de scaling with vinegar - per instruction booklet, the hot plate disintegrated. Yes you read that right disintegrated! I came back to rinse out and put… Read more
water in to re run to make sure all vinegar was gone to fine the steriliser full of black water! Rinsed it out to find the hot plate disintegrated, chunks missing from the hot plate, colour missing, black and white spots now on it. I have contacted Tommee Tippee but after reading these reviews I feel they wont replace it. Surely with this many people reporting the same issue they can see its there product that is faulty! Photos below of how my hot plate looks now!
It’s horrible don’t buy it – This is what discqling looks like, you are dissolving the plate itself ; I thought I got send in the unit from underneath but it’s the unit crumbling from underneath too; I wish I read the reviews beginning purchasing it Show details

month old) • Heat May has black spots all over it. • unit is giving off a foul “burning” smell. • zero customer service and zero support. • Manufacturer does not stand by its product to meet its minimum requirement.
Do yourself a favour, reviews are online for a reason, speak to other retailers such as (big named baby places) this product is inferior, does not meet australian standards and should be removed from shelves immediately due to risk of causing ill health to your newborn/baby.
All care and instructions followed as set out on tommee tippee website, item fails to meet consumer expectation and their response "Not our problem, not a warranty issue.
I was given as a gift 7 months ago the tommee tippee closer to nature essentials electric steam steriliser and noticed over the past 2 weeks there is some dark black spots building up on the heating mat/pad (grey circle area) which is the heat pad (see attached). The spots are dark and black and they don’t come off, machine is used on average only once every 2days.
As per tommee tippee website instructions all Care was adhered to IE:
* Minimum amount of required water of 80ml to Each cycle.
* Descale the machine/unit process every 4 weeks as per the manufactures recommendation.
Empty the steriliser and wipe inside with a sponge or damp cloth after each use.
Unless you think it's ok for a product whose primary use is water, heat, condensation, gives off a bad burning smell to rust and corrode after 7 months then by all means please treat yourself and buy this product.
Add this failed product to the mix of extremely poor customer service and customer care is a recipe for a brand and product that has failed at meeting my minimum consumer expectations.

Perfect and time saving – I love the fact that i can just steam and no need to dry the bottles as the water is sterile so can straight away use the bottle. Easy to use very straight forward usage and handling. The tomee tippee website has all the info on how to clean it. Love the product as it looks stylish as well. Show details
Does the job! – I have had this bottle steamer for almost 5 months now and use it every single day. I love it. I havent had any issues with the button like other reviewers.... My unit has a black base (not white as per picture), and holds max of 5 bottles. It steams in about 10mins, and I like knowing the bottles are clean and sterile ready for my daughter. … Read more
I have the whole tommee tippee range and have not had any issues with any of the products and best of all my daughter loves them all too!
I absolutely Love it! – I originally had the bug bulky white one, which was absolutely horrible! it got black/brown at on the heating plate which i could never get off! I upgraded last week to the 2017 model, its smaller ( con is it holds a little less), but i absolutely love it, Just make sure you wipe it down after every use and drain excess water otherwise it… Read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY – Worst steriliser ever! After the first use it stains and needs to be descaled often. We took it back to Baby Bunting today and they swapped it for an identical item. We have just used the one they gave us today and immediately at the end of the first use it has discoloured and will need to be descaled In no time. We did Request for a microwave one… Read more
as a replacement but we were told that can’t happen it had to be the same product. I am contacting the manufacturer to see what can be done.
Terrible steriliser – Brought the electric steriliser for our sons bottles thinking it would be good but it’s been a terrible steriliser. We have to descale it daily and it always leaves the bottles really wet. For an expensive steriliser we are very disappointed we would not recommend this product. Show details
Tommee Tippee electric steam steriliser - don't buy – We have a Tommee Tippee Electric Steam Steriliser. It has stopped working all of a sudden. we contacted Tommee Tippee and they weren't of any help. They asked us to send some information and finally said that they can't help us because the product is out of the warranty period. We bought the unit in Aug'18 but have only used it for some time.… Read more
Things are built to last and we expect items to last for more than few years. Anyways, will never buy any items from this brand again. Our money is down the drain. Poor customer service as well.

Terrible. Do not buy – I bought this electric steamer for my newborn less than 5 months ago. In the beginning I was using it quite frequently, about once a day. I descaled it regularly as per the instructions. I noticed little black spots appearing on the heating plate after 4 months of use. I was concerned and read reviews about this online and read that these… Read more
black spots were corrosion of the metal plate and was not limescale or anything that can be removed with descaling. I have since thrown this steriliser away as I don't want to harm my baby. Save your money don't buy this brand of steriliser.

Wish I read reviews – I barely use this as my baby is mostly breastfed, and the heat plate has already started to disintegrate. I only use it once a week or once every few weeks and have only ever followed the instructions for descaling. Super disappointed and annoyed I bought this. Show details
Dont Buy Waste Of Money – The product worked well for the first 3 months. At the 3 month mark the product was descaled. The heat pad disintegrated and left a black residue on the bottom of the product. This meant that the capacity fell by half as the bottom shelf could no longer be used. From the 3 month to the 6 month mark the performance of the product became erratic.… Read more
Sometimes it would work the first time. Other times after the second or third attempt. The cycle times increased. Where it took up to 30 minutes to sterilise the bottles in the end. At the 6 month mark the product stop working altogether. Save your money buy a microwave steriliser instead!!
WARNING: DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT – I wish I had read reviews prior to buying this product. I sent photos into Tommee Tippee customer care this week because the heat plate has black spots on it after only 3 months worth of use, and I hardly use it - only 2 to 3 times a week because I exclusively breastfeed. They've advised me that this is corrosion and to stop using the product, and… Read more
said I had not followed the proper care instructions, which is false. I couldn't stress to them enough that I followed the exact guidelines they specify on how to clean the machine and properly maintain it. They are refusing to investigate the quality of the product in further detail and taking no accountability or responsibility at all, which is very disappointing from a company their size. My recommendation to all mums out there, do not waste your money on this pathetic product, instead buy Milton tablets which are MUCH easier and just as effective to sterilise your bottles. If you do buy this product I'm certain this same issue will happen to yours and the company will dismiss any liability of fault.
Pathetic - broke after 2 months – Tommee Tippee is the most pathetic company I have ever dealt with. My son was born in March and my steriliser broke in May. I rang and was advised to cut the cords and send a photo with the date and my name for it to be replaced. I was given an Australian Post tracking number to track my replacement steriliser, that was never sent. I was advised… Read more
that sterilisers are out of stock world wide and would be advised when they are back in stock. It is now the end don July and I’ve been offered a LOUSY $75 AUD refund via cheque - that HAS NOT and probably WILL NOT ever arrive. PATHETIC, UNPROFESSIONAL, UNETHICAL company. You should be ashamed of yourself. I’ll tell everyone my story and ensure all my friends never support such a disgusting company.
Don't buy a Tommee Tippee Steriliser - READ ALL THE REVIEWS – Used the steriliser once a day for 8 weeks and it stopped working. De-scaled the heating plate as per the manufacturers instructions and it still stopped working. Only 8 weeks old and Tommee Tippee won't cover it under warranty and will blame you for damaging it. $150 down the drain, don't waste your money. Show details
Do not buy! Lasted only 3 months – Bought and used the electric steriliser on a low average of 1-2 times a week as bub is mainly on breast feeding.. The coating of heat pad melted after 3 months, emailed Customer Service and they blaming me for not descaling the unit, arguing they done extensive test on all their unit bla bla.. and would not offer replacement/repair.. A new unit… Read more
with minimum usage (p/s - all bottles and parts were cleaned with detergent before sterilise, heating was considered clean most of the time) shouldn't be blamed for melting the heating pad being the essential part of the unit.. if the right material is being used and designed properly!
Am trying to find the lost receipt hoping to check with BigW if they could offer a repair etc..
Does not last – Do yourself a favor and read reviews from different sites. Sterilizer stopped working within 5 months. Item was cleaned following instructions by Tommee Tippee. Regardless Tommee Tippee blame you and offer no warranty. Works great until you come across this very common problem. Show details
Stopped working, not even 3 weeks use – Steriliser stopped working after only less than 3 weeks use. They won’t offer refund but will send you a replacement. Have now waited over 4 weeks for that after being told it would take 5-7 days. Not receiving any response to follow up emails. Don’t waste your money. Poor quality product and poor quality customer service. Show details

Save your money - stick with a microwave one – All the sterilisers with these heating elements eventually will get damaged or rust no matter how well you take care of it. I had the first generation one as a hand me down from a friend. Every time I used it I would get brown water. After a couple of months it started shorting our electricity. So I bought a new one, Gen2. It was great for 2… Read more
months, and I descaled regularly but the heating element once again started getting dark black marks and the water would go brown and there would be stuff on the element after every use. They were good about it and offered a refund or replacement.. I took the refund and got a microwave one.
Definitely do not buy – Worked great to begin with. Until the water started turning brown/black with black wholes in the in heat plate. I sent it back the tommee tippee to be told after 4 months that it was my fault when I only ever used vinegar and a sponge. Do not buy this product as they don’t care about you as the customer and like to blame customers for there faulty product.
Horrendous – My first unit had an issue with the button and the centre piece slipped down and got burnt. I had the unit replaced and was told the sticky button was common in that unit - grrrr! Second unit is 5 months old. Button is slightly sticky but not too bad. Clip has broken off the bottom of the centre piece and the heat plate has corroded. I noticed… Read more
black marks on the heat plate and sent pics to TT. Their response thus far has been that it was my fault and I must have used a corrosive product on it. Incorrect - only used vinegar per instructions. They proceeded to advise that I must have cleaned it too much. Also incorrect. So they decided instead that I didn’t clean it enough! Following up with Consumer Tribunal as I don’t think that response is satisfactory. Do not buy it !!!!!!!!!!
Do not buy!! – I was using the tommee tippee sterilizer for 9 months and the button ended up burning, lucky it didnt burn down the house! I complained and they only said sorry we cant replace it but please discontinue it! Its a joke!! They should atleast last the year! Wouldnt recommend it!
Don’t waste your money! – I brought the Tommie Tippee Steriliser thinking it was a good brand. After a couple months of using the heat pad began to turn black in certain spots. I contacted the Careline. They asked for an explanation on how I use the machine which I explained through email. I followed the instructions on how to sterilise. I was told the heat pad… Read more
corroded. They didn’t warn me it was no longer safe for my baby bottles! I had to ask! They refuse to fix/repair it as they claim it only breaks if you do not clean it their way...but it was already determined I followed their cleaning protocol perfectly! So I was pretty much called a liar! And told to buy a new one.
DO NOT RECOMMEND!!HORRIBLE!! NOT WORTH IT!! – I have had my Tommie Tippee Steriliser for 5months now and since the beginning it has left a brown colour almost like a burn on the bottom of the steriliser. A few days ago the machine just wouldn't turn off leaving a burning smell. I contacted the Careline. They asked for an explanation on how I use the machine which I explained through email. followed the instructions on how to sterilise but they were not one bit interested in fixing it or sending a replacement even though it was still under warranty. Instead they said they could not help any further. Very dissapointed!!! Customer service was not there. They only care for sales! Do not recommend!!
Does the job – Have been using this for our bottle fed bub and at first I didn’t like it because the element smelt burnt however after using for 2 months I’m pretty happy. It’s much more convenient that boiling and cleans better than using the Milton tablets. I now just make sure that I put more water in than the line indicates and wipe clean the element after every use.
Big and Bulky – This steamer is perfect for cleaning numerous bottles at once. But dont be in a rush, it takes more then 5 minutes to complete. Its big and Bulky and takes up alot of room on the bench top lucky we have alot of bench space keep this put.of the rode of everything. Just got to remember to clean and descalr in between wash, if you dont then you get the burnt smell and the bottles sometimes have that smell.
Junk products - not worth the effort – This product and all the other electrical items from Tommee Tippee are not worth the time to use or the effort to find them. This device didnt work out of the box, their "careline" is unsympathetic to parents and their "3-4 days" to send out a new device took 5 weeks and by that time we had settled into a routine of using a Milton steriliser. … Read more
Please don't rely on these devices. I understand that some people like them but all the gifts we got from friends that were Tommee Tippee (electrical items) don't work, have issues or dont work to capacity.
The company knows they only need to make a device that will work for a short amount of time so they make them cheep.
Takes so much space – It took me a while to get used with this steamer, the buttons are not where I expected the to be and I have to move a go around it a little bit to figure where the buttons were. This steamer also takes so much space on my kitchen counter which is a con. :(
If you are buying this, you should have a big space in your kitchen – I love this product because it functions well. I love that the bottles are still sterilized after 24 hours and it is very hygienic because of the big lid that comes with it. The tiny parts of the bottles have places in all the steamer which makes the job easier although a little time consuming when you take them off the steamer. Overall, I think this a great steamer. The size is just big.
It has its downsides – This product was given to me as a gift to be an alternative to boiling bottles over the stove. However from day one the element browned having a permanent burnt smell even after descaling. This goes on the bottles and although I would presume they are sterilized, I still need to rise them with boiled water. It also takes longer then the advertised 5 minutes cycle time. About 10-15 minutes instead.
Love it – Love this product very fast and reliable only thing I have noticed is I can't seem to find any rescaling tablets anywhere for this so is there is no way of cleaning it unless I use vinegar other than that I'm very happy as I have had it a long time and it has never let me down old but still going strong
