TomTom Via 260

Tom tom via 260 – I have the Tom Tom Via 260 for 2 years and been very happy with the performance. Maps are accurate and reliable, signal streng is excellent, very easy to update and easy to install in the vehicle. I have owned a Garmin Nuvi before, but I will give Tom Tom 5 star and never use any other brand!
Buy TomTom If You Want To Be Disappointed – What a rubbish TomTom, following 4 returns, advised that the TomTom had been replaces, that's funny when the maps are 40 months old. Tried several times to upload, says that this has been successful, then you turn the TomTom on and yes, the maps are still 40 months old. If you want to be disappointed get a TomTom. You don't even get any support from them. Avoid TomTom.
Piece of Junk – Map downloads impossible. Constantly getting message on computer, device not recognised. Slow to update position on road. Wasted hours trying to update maps.
TomTom VIA is a piece of garbage – DO NOT BUY Tom Tom VIA of any models! I used to have an old TomTom XL and I was quite happy with it because it was quite accurate and it worked fine. After a few years it just died so I had to buy a newer version of TomTom from JB HiFi. They recommended me TomTom VIA and I made a mistake and bought it! more accurate and have fewer problems. However, TomTom Via is very slow and it gets slower and slower over time. It's unable to calculate the routes properly too. Yesterday we were on a road and we were running out of petrol. We tried to find a petrol station using TomTom but it told us there was no petrol station in the next 30 KM! It took us back 5 KM to a desert-like area and told us there was a petrol station there (somewhere around Woloongong) which was not! So we had to head back towards Sydney and ignoring TomTom we just hoped we could make it and get to Sydney with the little petrol we had left. Surprisingly after driving for like 20 minutes we found quite a few of petrol stations along the route whilst TomTom said there would be no petrol station for the next 20 KM-ish!
Today I have decide to throw this TomTom into garbage bin and buy a Garmin!
Not Bad – Upgraded from my three year old tomtom start 10. liking it so far despite of the struggle i had to link with my account initially. prefer small size and i think that's the only difference between via 280 & 260. haven't experienced any issues with leaving it in the hot car so can't really comment. The USB charger is good could be used with your… Read more
phone if it supports usb charging. camera locations along the route are good. Once all setup notification comes to u on your pc for the latest maps availability and free life time maps is no doubt a blessing. got it on specials for 119 (not bad i believe) No of speed cameras along the route, blue tooth calling, status bar menu selection options, auto time from GPS, auto DST, auto screen brightness change for day and night, route overview, demo, updated speed limits on the roads. Mount bar not as good as the old tomtom, data/charging cable connection not as easy as old tomtom start 10, must connect cable prior to mount, setting it up for the first time and linking new tomtom to your old tomtom account
