Ultimate Gift Cards

We got this as a present for my son's birthday and the card didn't work in any store listed (office works, jb hifi to name the big ones). Totally useless and i was told to use it online. What's the point in that?! Don't waste your time with this, just give cash.

My daughter received a gift card years ago, and had no idea if it was used or if it had any balance. Website said $0 balance but no transaction history displayed. The customer service were extremely helpful, digging up the history and efficiently handled my query. Would recommend this type of gift card Show reply

It’s sad that so many people have to complain in a public forum to get what they paid for, and people too shy or non confrontational simply won’t get their item. If you find this happens to you, simply leave a bad review and leave it unpublished (will be published within a certain amount of days if issue stays unresolved) it seems the team that responds to these actually does their job. Ultimately this service does work and that’s why this review is 4 stars instead of 1. Would have been 5 if it had been resolved the first time I contacted, but I feel like it’s a different team that helps the people on these reviews compared to the ‘contact us’ option on the website, and one of those teams aren’t doing their job.

payment, some will not accept online purchases, some will only let you swap the entire card value for the equivalent in their store card. Good luck working out who accepts what as there is no clear, definitive list).

When it comes time to check your balance, the website is very poor. Logging in takes several attempts (using the same information) and trying to check your previous spending (not just this month's) results in an error "Oops. We're unable to process your request at this time. Please try again later." This has happened to me on more than one occasion, so it is not a one-off.

Consider why you really want to purchase a gift card. It doesn't make a more thoughtful gift than cash and cash can be spent *anywhere*, even on groceries. Why swap "spend anywhere" for "spend in some places but not others"? Cash does not have limitations or hassles, whereas this card does.

Edit: Good response from Rep, who sent me my historical transaction details, but the website access to transaction information is still broken. Thanks Rep, but please fix the website.

and that the company can do nothing to honour those funds as they 'sit' with the store where the card was purchased. As this was a gift, I'm not in a position to ask the purchaser to return to the fund with a receipt and have them activate the card. If a business' model relies on their product to be issued and controlled by other stores, BUT THEN REFUSE TO CORRECT ERRORS MADE BY THESE STORES, then it is a flawed business model and they deserve all the low ratings they are receiving.

Card would not read, going back and forwards with customer service is a waste of energy, can't use the card as it has an error with the stripe but keep getting assured "the card is active and ready to use" Cannot reissue or refund .... Save your money and use a different company.

Don't waste your money. The struggle is real. Can't even check the balance of your cards, some retailers are only available for use if you buy a voucher with the voucher... Then they don't work and there's no chance of customer service. Assuming they just make it hard to make more profit.

Gift Cards can only be used online at the Good Guys if the purchase price is equal to or less than the value of a single card. Multiple cards can’t be combined for an online transaction.

I then tried to exchange the cards for a Good Guys eGift voucher so I could complete the purchase that way, but that option isn’t supported either.

As a result, the only way to use both cards is to visit a physical store, locate the product, confirm stock, request a price match to the online price, and hope both cards process correctly at checkout.

For something marketed as offering “Ultimate Freedom,” the limitations were unexpected and made using the gift cards impossible online.

I have just spent two hours trying to redeem my Ultimate gift card. Nowhere on the website does it explain that you have to EXCHANGE it for a Red Balloon gift card if you want to book a Red Balloon experience. I have had two sessions with live chat and finally it was revealed to me why the number I kept putting into Red Balloon wasn't working - I had to exchange it! I hope never to receive one of these gift cards again.

I was gifted 4x $100 ‘Her’ Gift Cards. These gift cards are so limiting in which retailers that can be used with and the process to redeem is clunky and convoluted. I don’t know why anyone would bother with these cards that only offer specific and very limited stores…. Just gift an eftpos or Mastercard gift card that can be used anywhere and without the go-around!

receipt. I explained that it was a birthday gift from a party where there were lots of people in attendance. Was told two weeks ago they would escalate the issue to a supervisor and now I have not heard back and my follow up emails are being ignored. The Gift Card even states “THIS CARD IS AUTOMATICALLY ACTIVATED UPON PURCHASE” So disappointed.

I honestly HATE receiving these gift cards, anytime I do I physically cringe as they are SO difficult to work. Login in here, register there, buy this egift over there and then once you have done all of that it doesn't even work at the store. Don't buy these as a gift for someone just give them the cash.
