not a good unit at all! wasnt cheap either!! – thought this would be a good unit as have always had good uniden radios etc. no route options unless it asks toll or no toll route. routes are often the long way. sometimes get lost. battery only lasted a couple of months, wont accept charge so needs to be plugged in always. gets stuck in navigation mode and you cant enter a new location. redid… Read more
all the software, no difference, must be internal firmware problem. very frustrating attempting to set new location 10 times before it gets rid of the last destination. nice looking, quality feel to unit. displays all information in a nice format. would be an excellent unit if not for above problems. very unreliable, battery quality, firmware problems, Uniden bad service reputation.
Very poor product – The routes this unit takes me are usually far from the shortest and then eventually gets me lost. Coming back from Rotorua it took me into a dead end farm lane twice. I had the unit upgraded and then the instruction manual didn't match the operating procedures. It just became too difficult to use. Now it has frozen and can't find the satellites.… Read more
Total waste of money. Beware. I thing Uniden should stick to telephones, I have several Uniden wireless phones around the house and they work fine.

Does not apply the shortest route. Operating procedures complicated. Gets itself lost. Is now frozen and cannot find satellites.
Bad – Disappointed as it's navigation seems so far out in New Zealand. For a tourist they would have to take a map to make sure they are heading in the right direction. Nice size, easy to read found it ideal when we took a trip to Aussie, got us every where we wanted to go.( but we was it the easiest, quickest route?) Found the map 2007 & 2008 crap for… Read more
New Zealand, tested it between Christchurch & Twizel couldn't even get us out of Christchurch the easiest, quickest of shortest way took us on a 30km (at least 30min) detour when we finally got out of town tried getting us to take incorrect turns out Fairlie. Absolute rubbish now we are wondering how good it was in Aussie as we where not to know if it was giving us the easiest, shortest or quickest route.
Terrible – hate it, know the card is stuffed as well. i tried to download an update and i can't. wat to do? Great small design locks up alot, gives absolutely wrong directions, takes you around in circles
Bad – My opinion is that uniden should replace every buyer of this unit with an updated version free of charge. Or at least make some sort of concession so we can replace this substandard product I like the fact that it does actually work properly sometimes It wont accept my pois, ir doesn`t seem to know where it is , hets lost frequently, orange strip a joke, misdirects too frequently, I hate the `I agree` sign in. etc etc etc ...
OK – I had hoped the map update would have improved it's performance but in some cases, where it previously got the route calculations correct, now with the update, some of those are now wrong. PLUS, you cannot buy maps for other countries IE. the USA. I originally liked it, but have to confess that it really is a lemon. The "pop up" screen showing… Read more
intersection detail is excellent, and the day/night mode is easy on the eyes Most of the time it chooses crazy ways to go places, which we just ignore until it figures itself out. And like others have said, sometimes when going strough a roundabaout it says turn left followed by a turn right. It is hard to rely on it, so it kind of defeats the whole purpose of having a gps to navigate with.
Terrible – I purchased 2 units, one for my wife and one for my self. Both units have been replaced under warrenty (within 2 weeks) due to look ups. When we pressed either the "NAVI" or the "POI" buttons the menu would not appear and the car position would jump off to one side. We are about to return the replacment units as they both have the same fault. That make 4 units with the same fault. Design problem? Nice small design locks ups.
Excellent – Great entertainment telling you get off highways, and then immediately back on. Round and round the block right, right, right through 3 traffic lights, and a no-right turn, when you could have turned left on the first. "Turn left, followed by, turn right" at a T junction ???? (with next closest junction 2 miles away), when we should turn right. Great entertainment confusing instructions
