Started off great then nothing but noise
Have a 2 month old and this unit was great. Then a last night it started tripping out breakers and spitting hot water on my daughter. Water was well below fill line. I would like an updated model or something to keep our business. Thank you

Particles in the water
New and Need for my Asthma. Called hotline for email and I couldn't really talk but asked for the email to send pictures and ask questions through email. The woman refused (literally) and I wasn't given an email.
I use filtered water. It worked but left lots of particles of black in the water. I now hav decided the smaller particles it produces are likely in the vaporized air it produces.
Purchased in December 2019 at CVS.
Perfect. Inexpensive and Effective
If you have trouble getting it to work add a tbsp of table salt. It works exactly as it should, and quickly adds moisture to the room. I prefer this type of humidity to the fancy cool mist ones with a filter because I am allergic to mold and the filters get moldy. This model is easy to clean with vinegar and mild soap to prevent scale build up. You can hear the water steaming though so if you want silence this isn't what your looking for

This has become a necessity for me.
I have been using this since 2016 and it is still doing great until now. We use it almost every night, even in summer and when necessary, throughout the night because of allergies and nasal congestion. I use 2-3 drops of essential oil. However, the youngest family member is 11 years old. I highly recommend it but sorry to hear poor reviews from others.
I am beyond annoyed. Spent $80 ONE month ago!! ONE MONTH! To buy this for my daughter who has chronic athsma and it helps her at night and it stopped working and tripping our power!! DO NOT RECOMMEND
Purchased in August 2019 at Cockburn gateway chemist for $80.00.
Waste of money! Rubbish
Bought this vaporiser over a month ago and it has already short circuited and does not work. Spent $60 plus $10 for the vapour steam and cant even get a replacement or refund because I do not have the proof of purchase (receipt) anymore, even though I have my warranty! Was the only thing helping me sleep with congestion and now there goes my hard working money down the drain! Should have studied reviews before purchasing as this is a common occurrence with Vicks products. Bloody terrible and will never purchase any Vicks items again! So disappointed and frustrated!

Vicks Steam Vaporizer- Stay Away from this Product
Product Review:Initially all went well for 3 Nights and then started tripping power.
Cutomer Serivce:The Customer Support Team also doesnt get back to you when you send an email with proof of Purchase asking for refund. Horrible Service and Product.

Worked great for a few months....then started tripping the power.
Worked great for a few months....then started tripping the power. Would not work on any power point. Something I don't want to deal with at 3am while the baby is sick.
Was great , but can’t use as it trips my power :(
First time I’ve ever used one so went for the trusty Vick’s, loved it but have only used max 10 x and now he shorts my power. Which is really frustrating as I have a very congested 5 month baby girl who has not been able to sleep and this mumma needs sleep too and it was the only thing that helped and now it’s broken !
I’ve been using this the last couple of winters, since my son was a baby and it’s amazing, perfect for young ones, easy and soothing to medicate children when they are seeing , it’s a life saver, so quiet, fast working , long lasting. I am very surprised at the bad reviews maybe they got the old model
Steam Vaporiser Tripped House Circuit Breaker Dangerous
Bought this steam vaporiser and used it for about 2 years and still working until middle of winter season which was quite disappointing. It kept tripping the house circuit breaker many times. It is very dangerous and can damage the house potentially!! This item has 5 years warranty but if it becomes faulty, claiming the warranty process takes forever!!
I rang them up and spoke to Jenny whom informed me to fill in an email and provide the proof etc. [name removed] was in charge of this issue and advised me that a replacement unit has been sent....It has been 3 months now yet I still haven’t received my replacement unit. I have called [name removed] many times, left voice mails, emailed him and yet no responses and no pick ups on the calls. How ridiculous. I need a replacement of an actual steam vicks vaporiser that works as it helps my baby sleeps better throughout the evening. Very disappointed with very bad customer service done by Vicks.

Best purchase I’ve made!
After my baby spending nights awake from coughing and not being able to breathe I purchased one of these vaporizers and I am so glad that I did! No more sleepless nights when my little one is sick. It’s so quiet, sometimes I have to check if it is even on, not sure how some reviews say it sounds like a boiling kettle (which made me weary about buying it) because it doesn’t. Seriously a life saver!
Yet another unit tripping power....
I bought the Vicks Warm Steam Vaporiser less than 4 months ago to help with my baby's cold / overnight coughing.
At first, it worked great and we saw a noticeable drop in the frequency of overnight coughing.
As of earlier this week we went to use it again as our son developed another cough...and it now trips the safety switch. Every single time we try to use it.
We tried it in numerous power points at different times and it happened every single time.
It has been used, cleaned and stored as per the instructions so nothing we have done has ...caused the unit to become faulty. Reading other reviews it sounds like a common issue, something I wish I was aware of before purchasing, and I'm amazed the product hasn't been recalled / nothing has been done to prevent selling items that continue to do this. Having bought it months ago, I no longer have a receipt so I don't know how I can go about getting a refund, but I would urge others to look at other options and not waste their money.

Faulty Batch? - Power Safety Switch keeps Tripping - Electrical Safety Hazard + Noisy & Hot!
Model: V188-X-AUS Manuf Date: 14 MAY 2018
After about 1 week of use each evening for my children and following all recommended procedures, the device now continues to trip the residual current safety switch circuit in the electrical meter box. I plan on returning the device tomorrow during business hours.
This appears to be a widespread issue based on recent feedback and Vicks' own responses and must be addressed via safety recall. I have been advised to contact the VIC Electrical Safety Commissioner and ask that Vicks take this responsibilit...
I bought mine approximately 5 years ago and it's still going strong. It bubbles away softly which is nice for white noise and lasts the entire night. Only downsides is it can be difficult to take the top off & it is dripping wet when you do. The top part is the plug, so you can't just leave it and take the bottom away to refill, you have to either have a towel to lie the top part on, or take the entire vapouriser with you to the sink. The other more frustrating downside is that you can't completely empty it. It takes ages trying to flick t...he remaining water out, then you have to use paper towels or a tea towel to soak the rest up. I don't understand why there's no simple drainage for it. Other than that, I've never had an issue with it mechanically and we all have a better nights sleep when it's on.
Purchased at United Chemist for $60.00.

Questions & Answers
I put the Vicks in the water. Will this hurt the steamer?
Customer ServiceVicks Vaporizers & Thermometers
Do you mean Vicks VapoRub? It's not recommended to use the VapoRub in the Vicks Vaporizer - it's a waxy substance that is not designed for use in these units and yes, it can damage the unit if it's used frequently in this way. A one-off use is unlikely to affect it much, but we'd recommend you flush it out with vinegar before using again. Add 2-3 tablespoons of white vinegar to the tank, fill with water and run overnight (or about 6-8 hours) with the vinegar water in. This will help clean and de-scale the unit. From now on, please only use the recommended Vicks VapoSteam Inhalant formula in your Vicks unit.
Kind Regards, Vicks.
The plastic water part is getting so hot to the touch. I had an old vaporizer that never got this hot. Will it catch fire. The old one would steam and where the steam came out was hot but not the white plastic water container. Should I take it back or is this normal for the newer vaporzer?
Customer ServiceVicks Vaporizers & Thermometers
Hi Hollie, it should not be "hotter" than a previous model, no. There's nothing about the newer units that should make them hotter. So if you're noticing a big difference, it's possible there's an issue (although rest assured, the unit won't catch fire). We'd be happy to investigate further if you'd like to get in touch with our Customer Service team on Freecall 1800 655 841 during business hours, or email firstname.lastname@example.org (turnaround for email enquiries is usually longer)
Look forward to helping you out soon! Kind Regards, Vicks.
