Fails to do its one job – This shaver was designed for one job and one job only, to cut and trim beard hair. The shaver fails to draw any hair into its blades no matter what size guide comb is used. It glides over your beard as if you have no beard. The only thing it's good at is literally plucking your beard hair (follicle and all) from your skin. It works better as a hair comb than a trimmer. Show details

Wahl extreme grip doesn’t cut it! – Bought one at Xmas and it was sold to me as good and had long battery life. I wanted to maintain a close cropped beard but it just doesn’t cut??? It buzzes away doing nothing except pull painfully. Weird and waste of money:/ Show details

Very disapointed – I have only owned the trimmer for 2 weeks. Very disapointed in its ability to trim beards. It is fully charged but does not trim effectivly even after sweeping the are several times. it is very difficut to get evenly cut areas either because if poor quality Blades or lack of power. Very very disapointed dont waste your money  Show details

Works, but do yourself a favour – Purchased this trimmer kit in early January from the Shaver Shop. No heavy duties in mind, just finishing around the edges after crewcutting. Worked well until the 3rd usage, when the blade came loose mid-trim, resting on the back of my neck. After freezing and carefully fishing it off (not dropped, thankyou) and attempting to gently reconnect… Read more

to the body, I noticed that one of the plastic retaining prongs appeared to have snapped off (shown in attached photo.) I haven't located this piece of plastic yet, despite a thorough search of the tiled area where it was used. Benefit of the doubt, though... I'm sure Wahl didn't ship a broken product.

Anyway, off to the Shaver Shop... where I was immediately met with "blades aren't covered by warranty" and therefore the choice to either go away or purchase a complete replacement blade assembly for $16.95. I did the latter, because I want a working trimmer, and the now-spare busted blade will hang on... if I'm EXTREMELY gentle.

So at the end, I have two main issues. First, the broken piece in question isn't a blade, but rather a very chintzy piece of plastic screwed onto the blade. If the blade was blunted, rusty or otherwise, no problem because that's obviously user negligence. Second, this unit hasn't been dropped, roughly treated, used commercially or otherwise, so I can only conclude that it's craftily designed to be fragile in just the right spot. Disappointment then from Wahl, usually a quality brand, and Shaver Shop, who (perhaps because they're forced by Wahl) aren't exactly forthcoming with replacement in good faith of some pretty crummy bits.

Do yourself a favour and spend a bit more... inspect before buying, and most importantly: check if any bits of tacked-on plastic are going to wreck an otherwise-sound product.
