Excellent buy!...good performance for the price – I was not sure if this small unit could do what I wanted. I needed to install this downstairs in the back of my garage. I estimate that i can get a good signal to watch and hear at around 70-80 meters away from it (yes i live in a fairly big house..;)...). I had some problems with bad image and interference in the beginning, but as soon as i… Read more
changed the transmission channel to another one, problem solved...bottom line for the price and size, i believe it is and excelent buy. Inexpensive, small, good image Batteries of the terminal run out quick
Terrible – Very very disappointed. I bought this at Dick Smith mainly because it comes with a LCD monitor- we didn't have a dedicated TV for it and on our plasma, it takes too long to switch to the right channel for camera viewing. The unit I got was the last one left, in an incredibly old and damaged box and upon unscrewing the camera to set the channel, I… Read more
could see someone had put on sticky tape to hold a part of it in place. Should've taken it back then, but I was lazy.
I wasn't after super quality- just something that tells us whether it's someone we know at the door or sellers or whoever. In this respect, it sort of does the job... but only if you know someone well enough to recognise their silhouette and other rough characteristics (eg.height, posture). The resolution is nowhere near good enough to discern faces clearly. A small $30 ebay camera does a better job. It's hopeless at night, eventhough we have a light at the door. You can only tell if there's a biggish or smallish person there.
The wireless LCD monitor is convenient, but there's a constant flickering of interference bands, so it takes you longer than it should to focus on the picture.
The camera is also kinda big and not discrete at all. I think it's also very easy for someone to unscrew it and make off with it.
The only good thing about it is that it's lasted longer than the last ebay camera I bought... it's been outdoors (shielded though) about 3 months now. In daylight, can at least tell if it's someone we *may* know or people selling products at the door. Poor LCD resolution and colour reproduction on monitor.
Poor camera night vision
Interference
Camera a bit too big and obvious.
