I wish I'd read these reviews before buying the Westinghouse WHC644BA. My experience is also bad – I understand that any electrical cooktop must conform to safety standards. But the Westinghouse WHC644BA is far too sensitive, too prone to shutting down. Spills require that you pause the cooktop before wiping it down. If you forget to pause and just wipe, the cooktop shuts itself off. If you wipe the control panel, even slightly, while paused the cooktop shuts down. If you rest a utensil anywhere on the cooktop it shuts down. So I hear you say, just learn how to avoid doing these things. But the list of things you can do 'wrong' is long and I'm still working out what to avoid. What this cooktop truly needs is a RESTART process. Something to tell the WHC644BA that "okay I got it wrong but I'm an adult and I just want to cook my meal, right now". Sadly, there is NO way to restart the cooktop. You must wait 5 minutes until the Westinghouse WHC644BA resets itself. And then try to save your meal. Not good enough. Westinghouse I know you are smarter than this cooktop suggests. Last complaint... the ceramic cooktop itself is very easily marked. My WHC644BA looks old after less than a year of use. My last ceramic cooktop (not a Westinghouse) looked good after 5 years of use. Other than that this cooktop does a good job, while its working.

Useless as a cooking appliance – Purchased jan 2019. Turns off constantly, a pot being placed over a part of the panel, water from steam near the panel, a wooden spoon on edge of panel. All these things turn it off. Which is absurb given the panel is bottom right hand side. Then if you wipe off the steam from cooking which has turned the panel off it takes ages for the sensor to reactivate so you can turn it back on (water has to dry). So things are half cooked and once you realise the panel has turned the cooktop off its a ruined steak before you get heat back on. Would never buy again, absolute dissapointment. We got 3 matching westinghouse appliances and very dissapointed by 2 out of the 3.

Purchased in at The Good Guys Physical store for $600.

I have had the repair man out to review. He says its functioning as designed. He suggested only using one hotplate - the furtherest away from the panel. Its just poor design for a cooking appliance

Looks nice but inconsistent heating – Have been using this stove for the last 6 months. It looks nice in our new kitchen, easy to keep clean. Spacing between hob elements is good, not too close together. However, even though the temperature is digitally controlled, the inconsistent heating makes things difficult. One day I'll use a particular level of heating for a dish and it's fine, the next time I'll use the same heating level for the same type of food and it burns or is way to intense for what is being cooked. This happens on all elements. Overall it's okay but the constant adjusting of temperature settings gets annoying.
