Totally useless for AV connection which was main purpose of buying it (campervan). Very poor picture quality and aspect compatibility on any setting, the AV jack does not cut built-in speakers so you get an echo effect that makes movie unintelligible and there's background motor noise or DC breakthrough on audio that's like a droning aeroplane engine. Waste of $120. Show details

I am building a wooden model ship which comes as a kit with instructions on a dvd disc. My computer doesn't have a disc slot so I bought the Laser DVD player which I thought was a clever way round the problem. It's useless. The disc has over 500 pages so I need to (a) get to the current page (b) to stay there till I've finished unless (c) I… Read more

need to refer back to the meta instructions at the beginning. I've now spent several hours trying to get it to do this. Occasionally it gets to the right place but then drifts off somewhere else. I wish I'd never bought it. I'm going to throw it away and see if i can buy a cheap second hand computer that takes disks. This is sad. It seems to be an Australian company. If it was Chinese or Japanese or Korean it would work. Why can't we do things properly?

Terrible volume – Received for a Christmas present for when i travel being a 12 volt player. The main problem is the volume or lack there of. Maxed out at 20 and honestly you can barely hear it. Secondly is the very cheap remote that basically doesn't work (leave it in the box) And thirdly, the quality is questioned to the price. Over priced for what it is... Do… Read more

yourself a favour and buy the Teac at half the price and it's a great little unit.. oh and has a 3 year warranty.

Terrible – DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT. After 2 months the battery exploded and blew the back off. Completely unsafe for my child I purchased it for. Called customer service who offered no help as I hadn’t kept my receipt. Terrible customer service and terrible unsafe product! Had been stored in my sons wardrobe so was through no fault of ours although I was made to feel like a liar when I called the company direct. Shame on you! Show details

Does what I want it to – It seems hard to research these type of things without physically trying them. I bought this and it is playing DVDs fine. It hasn't frozen or misbehaved like my prevoius (different brand) player was starting to do. Aspect ratio choice applies to when player is used in conjunction with an external monitor, TV for example. I wanted a player which… Read more

could display 4:3 on it's own screen but gave up on this and watch everyone in fat mode.

Mechanically noisier than the AKAI it replaces. Volume was adequate for me, but for those who would use this in a noisy environment it may be a problem. Decent manual included.

I've only used it for about 10 hours. So far so good. Remember you get what you pay for. I'm happy enough with it.

Update: Since using it some more, I would say the volume is fine - it was what I was watching that had quiet segments, and really, mechanical noise is not an issue.

Still Happy.

It’s okay – The size of the screen is good for a portable DVD player. Maximum volume isn’t that loud. Has USB connectivity to be able to watch movies easily. Charged it lasts a few hours. Swivel screen is great, come in handy when more than 1 child wants to watch it, use it frequently in the car for the kids  Show details

Well worth an investment for any toddlers – Hi, we bought one for a trip to Dubbo Zoo. Our toddler hates car ride in her baby seat. So the Laser DVD portable DVD player works perfectly in the car for our toddler and in motel room. All cables came with the DVD player. We bought it from Big W. It plays DVDs from other countries as well. We recommend it for all Mum & Dad needing quiet times. We love it and hope you will find the same.

Portable DVD Player – Bought a portable 10 inch DVD player and the first time I used it, it didn't work and still doesn't work. I have tried so many different DVDs. Not a happy customer especially because I have to send it back to manufacture myself. Aldi store where I bought it from, do not take any responsibility for selling the product.

Extremely disappointed – We bought this DVD player on a recent road trip for my daughter and she probably watched maybe three DVDs on it, and then it just refused to load. Even screen would say it was loading but nothing would happen, even with brand new DVDs. Didn't even last two days.

fails in fundamental aspect ratio – Options on aspect ratio don't include 4:3 even though instruction book says it does. Hope you like everyone stretched. If it wasn't for this it would be awesome.

Perfect For Our Little Boy – We purchased this player for our two year old boy around 12 months ago and it is still going strong however it is a little worse for wear now as you would expect. It plays all dvd purchased from ABC Shop/JB/Big W for hours on end and is perfect for the car. reliable tough value for money

Won't survive two weeks – I bought this Laser 10" DVD player in the hope that it would bouy my spirits after getting my wisdom teeth out, Two days after my teeth were out, and just over a week since I actually bought it, it failed to recognise any DVD's that I put into it. Not getting this brand ever again. Cost effective Fail to read DVD's
