Damm dangerous (notice the good reviews are 6 to 12 years ago) – Seemed to be fine then thought wheel alignment all of a sudden was out drooped in to get checked, he said wheel alignments perfect, 2 tyres are about… Read more

23,000kms and their life is over, hope they do better in the kids sandpit – I had the Nexen N'fera RU5's fitted on my Discovery4 in February 2017. Due to an almost fatal accident caused by a factory fitted Pirelli that failed… Read more

in dramatic fashion while travelling at 110kph on the freeway, I refuse to have Pirelli tyres fitted to any car, ever again. The sales guy at Tyre King was full of praise for the Next brand telling me that Porsche were using this brand. This is my first SUV so had not done much research on tyres as the tyres that came with it brand new had only done 18,000kms. The RU5 seemed like good value at $350 each fitted and I was replacing all five. The trouble started from the moment I left the tyre shop. The tyres were noisy and seemed to constantly need air topping up every few days. In the first year of owning the Disco, it had needed one wheel alignment. After fitting the Nexen's in February, the steering just never seemed right again. It had two more wheel alignments at Tyre King in 2017 before I gave up and went to Beaurepaires. The store manager right up said the tyres were impossible to work with, as it took them three goes of rotating the wheels to get everything aligned and even then they weren't that happy with it. He noted then that the outer edges were scrubbing out dramatically more than the centre of the tyre. That was in March 2018, at that time the tyres had only travelled 19,000kms. By September 2018, it needed another wheel alignment. When I went back to collect the car, the manager said he could not let me leave with the state the tyres were in. They were completely scrubbed out on the edges and would not pass a roadworthy. Since having the Nexen's put on, I have had the brake pads replaced twice as they just don't pull up well. The tyres were awful in the wet, in the end I have been taking my partners Volvo on days when it has rained as I just didn't trust the tyres enough. They were noisy and even though the Disco has air suspension, you would never know it as the RU5's are unforgiving on all but perfectly smooth roads. So, $1700 for five tyres that lasted 23,000kms and have cost me almost $1500 in extra maintenance over that time, I rate them as absolute rubbish. All five tyres have a new life now, in my next door neighbours sandpit for the kids. I have now done a ton of research before selecting my new tyres, Goodyear have won this competition. The Disco feels like a brand new car again. Nexen Tyres - Don't waste your money
