Don't spend money on this product – I had Bonaire installed on 6 January 2000. This was a replacement of a Brivis, which I had close to 20 years. Firstly I noticed that the Bonaire… Read more

wasn't as effective as my Brivis was previously. Didn't cool as well, left the air moist, the fan speed was lacking range, water was dumped much more often. The pump needed changing after the first season, which is probably not much more than 2 month of use. Now, dead again, in the middle of summer leaving us without cooling. I am on my way to purchase a new cooler, but I would never consider a Bonaire again, nor should anyone else if you want your home cooled and a cooler that works.

Great when you get a reliable pair of condensers; warranty is also great – I bought this Bonaire inverter reverse cycle split system to replace an old non-inverter split; works just as well (if not better), quieter, cheaper… Read more

to run and has more features like fully automatic fan and swing!

Now, the only reason I’ve knocked off a star is because the indoor unit was DOA, had a hole inside its condenser which couldn’t be repaired by a warranty technician so the whole indoor unit was replaced; this process only took 3 days. I’ve had no issues with the a/c since, thankfully.

Cools a weatherboard kitchen/dining/lounge room area to 24°C in about 10 minutes on auto fan speed; heats this area to 21°C in about 15 minutes with the same fan settings.

Purchased this 16/12/2025. I am a bit disappointed with regards to the exhaust port and rectangular exhaust fitting. The port could be better… Read more

designed, as it leaks LOTS of the hot exhaust air back into the room. Perhaps a round twist lock with a gasket of some kind would be a better design. This exhaust port is not remotely air tight to the point that it will need tape or silicone to fill the multiple gaps. This causes the unit to run continuously instead of cycling off and on. This constant running gives you no break from the 65 decibels of noise it creates. Not to mention excess power usage. My target temperature setting is set to 24 degrees, & the inside temperature is 32 degrees as I write this review. The room is 4.5m x 2.4m and the ceiling height is less than 2 m The instruction manual is terrible. (minus 1 star) Lots of missing information, poorly formed sentences, or poor or incorrect choice of words. It would be helpful to explain the functions of the 2 water outlets. I had to do a search to find out the correct use. (top outlet for continuous draining, bottom to empty the catch tank.) The supplied drain pipe is pinched in multiple places from the packaging process and inhibits the flow of excess water. I will try the unit for another day but I am considering returning it because I shouldn't have to fix or tape the exhaust port fitting. (minus 1 star) I have included 3 photos of the exhaust for a visual explanation.

EDIT ! As a temporary measure, (for testing purposes) I wrapped a brand new large microfiber cloth around the leaky fitting, & secured it with a bull clip. This has reduced the leakage and the temperature has dropped to 29.5 degrees from 32.5. (outside air temperature according to BOM for my location is 30 degrees currently.) Unfortunately I feel that because there is still a leak it won't reach 24 degrees and cycle on and off. I feel that a 24 degree target setting is not unreasonable. I did not want to tape or modify the outlet as I may not be able to return the unit if I remain dissatisfied.
