go across wide opening. No unsafe foot holds like some other options on the market. Screws into wall so not relying on wind out pins. Simple white colour that doesn't have lots of kiddy designs or logos all over it (just our preference). Very good adjustable length. Can open the whole thing up or just the small gate. Opens in both directions. has withstood lots of shaking and now climbing from our toddler. Difficult to fit right if you have skirting boards in the way - needs a bit of a work around and it should make this fitting issue clear on the box. Toddlers palm skin got trapped in the hinge when it was opened one day when hand on top of gate. Screw thing that is the locking mechanism sticks out when the gate is open and is just the right (wrong) size and height to poke a toddler in the eye (although because the locking mechanism is so simple there is nothing to break). We have other Baby dan safety gates with better closing mechanisms.

it. It works well and having a gate makes it very easy to put the wood in the heater. We like how it can be attached to the wall making the area completely child safe. The materials stand the heat well and never become so hot that it would burn a little hand. Excellent quality and worth every cent.
