Good product but could be improved on – Pros: - silent operation - great size/space - looks great Cons: - no door open beep - door doesn't "fall" closed on its own, making door open beep… Read more

all the more important - can't seem to get it level/stable, so it makes a lot of creaking noises when opening and closing the door (feels flimsy) - outside gets marked/dirty easily

I really wanted to love this fridge - replaced a 10+ year old Fisher and Paykel of similar size. But the old unit was more solid feeling and had the door open warning beep.

The lack of a warning beep and the fact it catches and doesn't easily close automatically, means this fridge is not great for families with children.

No big issues but – January 2022, our 4 1/2-star side-by-side fridge had to be replaced as the fridge-side door had warped. We purchased this Hisense 6-star fridge in… Read more

black and have a three issues with its design. 1. The freezer has no light. This is a very minor issue for us. 2. The fridge door has to be opened almost fully to allow access to the crisper. And this door and the freezer door are very wide. Again a very minor issue. 3. The back of the interior of the fridge is not flat. I guess to allow airflow throughout. However, this ridge down the centre of the back of thee fridge acts as a pivot point for the glass shelving. On more than one occassion we have found one shelf to be only just sitting on the little bracket on one side. The shelf could have fallen onto the shelf below and we would have had a big mess inside the fridge. I have fixed it by putting a number of self-adhesive wedges (Bunnings have them for around $5) around the interior so the shelf cannot twist as much. All Hisense need to do to prevent shelves falling is make the brackets jut out more, cut the glass shelves a bit wider or make the back corners more rounded to lessen the pivoting. Other reviewers comment about noise but we haven't had that issue. Others comment about the basic fit-out inside. Yes, that's true but we bought some containers designed for fridges from K-Mart to organise things how we want. So the basic fit-out has become an advantage

I’ve owned two of these fridges. The first was returned due to large temperature fluctuations and failure to reach the temperature set on the control… Read more

panel. The second I have been using since mid-2024.

The replacement is more consistent, but it still never reaches the set temperature throughout the fridge.

To keep food at or below 4 °C, the fridge must be set to 2 °C, which is the lowest available setting. At a 3 °C setting, the fridge stays mostly above 4 °C, with the top shelves often exceeding 5–6 °C.

This has been confirmed using both digital and analogue thermometers, over extended periods. In practice, setting the fridge to 3 °C results in unsafe temperatures. Only the 2 °C setting delivers acceptable real-world results.

• Temperature distribution is poor. • Cold air clearly settles at the bottom. • The bottom shelves may sit near 2.5 °C, while the top shelves remain much warmer. • The advertised “Metal Tech Cooling” appears cosmetic. • No active airflow is detectable at the vents.

Hisense support advised not to run the fridge at 2 °C, stating it would “overwork the inverter”. That effectively prioritises energy efficiency over food safety, which is unacceptable.

The freezer is mostly stable at -19 to -20 °C. However, despite being labelled “frost free”, ice regularly forms on the freezer drawer fronts. My 21-year-old Westinghouse frost-free fridge never did this.

Design-wise, the fridge looks great. Drawers move smoothly, although the top freezer drawer can stick. The stainless finish is modern and appealing.

This fridge is rated 8-star energy efficient. I would like to know what settings were used to achieve that rating. At the commonly recommended 4 °C setting, this fridge does not keep food within safe limits. A fridge has one primary job. Keep food safe, between 0 and 4 °C, as per health guidelines.

Hisense phone support staff were polite and helpful. However, when I emailed detailed temperature graphs and findings, I received no meaningful response. Also, I was told their refrigeration expert would not speak with me.

Credit to Harvey Norman, who replaced the first fridge without hesitation.

After extensive testing of two identical units, I would not buy another Hisense fridge.

Noisy – Same as other reviewers. Fridge is very noisy, producing constant high pitched sound. Very annoying. Would try to return it. I read previous reviews… Read more

fridge was never colder than 7 to 9 degrees. Noticed freezer had thawed yet motor still running. Let it run for another 24hra to see if it would freeze. It's dead. Returning it today. Won't be buying another Hisense fridge...ever.
