Cuts kikuyu well, Catcher silly design – I purchased my Victa 16" Razor Cut Push Mower from Bunnings a year and a half ago. I have a small patch of kikuyu grass at the front of my property… Read more
and I was not keen on dragging my big mower down a large set of stairs to mow such a small section.
The mower when adjusted works great on my flat level weed free kikuyu lawn. It cuts nicely leaving a nice flat bowling green look.
I’m not a fan of the catcher, I don’t like the two plastic clips that connect the catcher to the bar at the base of the mover. I also don’t like the the strap that connects the catcher half way up the T handle. These combined makes the catcher release a two hand job and frustrating to use. With a little thought to the design victor could have easily made a catcher that connects to mover similar to those on an electric qualcast mower.
Another shortcoming with this mower is the flimsy T handle design that twists out of shape when the mower gets bogged down. My handle is no longer central and I have learned to live with it as I haven’t bothered to bend it straight. If you have ocd this mower may not be for you. I also am not a fan of the foam handle grip. When wet it feels like I’ve got my hands wrapped around a cold and squishy dead fish.
I haven’t experienced the plastic ratchet cogs in the wheel wearing out rendering the mower to be useless like many others, but if I do come across this planed obsolescence I’ll let everyone know here and post pictures on this site.
All in all it’s a good mower for my needs, it cuts well and I have left it out in the elements for a year and a half and haven’t experienced any mechanical issues to date, just a bit of cosmetic rust appearing through the blue paint on the reel cover.
I’m giving it four stars
