Will a $150 Chinese tablet live up to their hype – I have not written many reviews so here goes. The XGODY tablet looks ok but I ran Pass Mark benchmark app on it and compared it with my Samsung… Read more
Galaxy A7 SM-T500 (June 2022) and on 33 benchmark tests the XGODY (Just purchased Feb 2024) ranked lower sometimes way lower.
XGODY has 10 gig of rom and 240 gig of ram and a MT8168 Quad core processor supposedly running up to 2 GHz. It also has a USB C port but does not support USB C protocol. Trying to load 100 gig of music onto it was painfully slow with me having to restart the download a couple of times as it would just stop. The speakers sound awful.
Update - I tried to load music onto the tab and it ran out of memory at 90 gig although the file manager said it has 240 gig. The USB C port will no longer work transfering data and I have to use WiFi to load data.
The XGODY screen (Resolution 800 x 1280 pixels) looks OK and it ran videos OK so no complaints there, but the Samsung was Galaxy's apart, pardon the pun. The Samsung display (Resolution 1200 x 2000 pixels) is much better to look at and the general appearance is much nicer The two tablets weigh about the same but the Galaxy is almost 2mm thinner, the two tablets width and height is almost the same but the XGODY is slightly larger.
Battery life seems ok but I haven't really tested it out to see how long it lasts.
Update - One year later and the battery goes flat on standby after 48 hours.
In conclusion I would not buy it again. I bought it because of the price $150 and wanted to see what I would get. Reading the Chinese hype you would almost believe the thing might fly, but as per usual the Chinese don't mind exaggerating a bit or quite a lot. The Samsung tab is much nicer and although it is now obsolete, the base line Galaxy A9+ is around $300 and I would buy that in my opinion.
