Avanti teapot a total disappointment – After having an Avanti stainless steel teapot for 20 years, it finally broke and I very happily purchased a new one yesterday. OMG what a… Read more
disappointment! The handle is awkward to hold and when the teapot is full I can't hold it because the handle is sharp-edged. It was $65.00 which is less than I expected to pay but it is useless so $65.00 now seems exhorbitant for what I got.

Hario Cha Kyusu Tea Pot CHJMN-45T

Beautiful little teapot – Looking for a teapot as most teabags have plastic structure for paper stability in hot water. Wishes were for inert glass that would hold heat well,… Read more
no plastic of any sort! Finally found this one on Amazon, expensive but made in Japan and feels just great to hold and use. Pours well and the SS strainer inside is fine mesh and reaches bottom - important when using for one. There are different sizes and I bought the medium one, which manages to hold enough for 2 of our mugs of tea. The smallest one would only be suitable maybe for an Asian sized tea. Beautiful little pot, will just need to handle with care. Also noticed that the condensation from the glass lid was substantial so glad I didn't settle for other brands with plastic lids.

Avanti Modena Double Wall

Underwhelmed – I was actually after a thermal teapot by Thermos which has great reviews on this site. However, it was no longer available for sale. I wanted a… Read more
Thermos branded item as I am very, very happy with the performance and superb manufacturing quality of a Thermos thermal carafe I bought.
However, there was a perfect dupe in the Avanti Modena teapot - it looked exactly the same as the no-longer-available Thermos. And I was also satisfied with a thermal Avanti Go Cup.
With the look-alike teapot, I figured that as it was sold on Amazon from the Avanti Shop, it couldn’t be an unauthorised copy or fake right?
On delivery, the polished silver double-wall 1.2L teapot looked nice. But it was light and tinny, not even close to the solid, sturdy feel of the 600 ml Thermos carafe. The joins on the teapot (e.g. where the spout joins the body) looked poor, and the insulation also seemed iffy as the outside body of the teapot heats up when hot water is poured in.
The design of the teapot looks nice, but the quality and performance is disappointing.
