Aarke Carbonator II Questions & Answers
My machine is filling with water inside the body, seems to build up and then leak everywhere. Any ideas please?
My machine is filling with water inside base ?
Where do you get replacement o rings from or does anyone know the exact size so I can source after market ones. Thanks in advance Kevin
how do you change the gasket?
Has anyone had issues where the gas is running out really quickly? I am getting through lots more than I did with my sodastream
Yes! I am getting average 25 bottles per cylinder. I contacted Aarke and they offered to replace. Reading these reviews I am guessing a few of us got a dud. Their customer service has been very responsive, which is great.
Yes....I am getting this! I am going through a 60l tank in less than two weeks! I raised it with Aarke and got no response and then raised it with the retailer (Six Barrel Soda here in NZ) and they said to send it back but I would have to pay to have it looked at. They also said that a bottle a day was very heavy use, but given the price and its supposed to be a "premium" product I am really disappointed. It looks great! But the Sodastream it replaced is still going strong at my neighbours!!! Form over function didn't work this time!!!
The aarke uses more gas in my experience. We use a lot of CO2 and use both Sodastream and aarke. I fill my own bottles so I keep an eye on usage. The aarke looks better on the bench but I mainly use the Sodastream.
I have swamped over 2 gas bottles and I get no bubbles in my water. It’s 3 years old. Can I have it serviced or repaired?
I am having the same issue. Gas running out in one week.
Has anyone experienced their Aarke water bottle's silver bottom keeps falling? I have 2 and both keep falling off no matter how I try to tighten it. I only wash it by hand and most of the time I don't even wash it and just refill water :| So we bought a new one and let her use it when the silver bottom fell on my daughter's toe, it bled crazy I thought the whole bottle fell on it. I'm still using the faulty bottles and just taped it looks ugly. No one responds from Good Guys about it, ive contacted them many times its been 3 weeks now. When the restrictions are over and stores are open again ill bring it over to them.
Yes! This has happened to two of mine too! Barely have them in water, don’t put them in the dishwasher and no real reason why these should have come off!
If you email Aarke directly you will get a reply fairly quickly. We had the same problem and they offered to replace them. support@aarke.com
Lol mine come off all the time. However for me this is a minor issue as you don’t keep the bottles that long.
For my case it's not a minor ssue cos I need it upright on the table while I work so if the bottom isn't intact the bottle doesn't Stand still and keeps falling on its side. Sometimes I forget it's faulty and it drops on the floor all the time :(
Can I use soda stream bottles?
Hi Julie - yes you can use “soda stream” bottles - but keep in mind the “use-buy” date of the bottles and never put them either full or empty into the freezer ! Hope this helps -
Why are these so much more expensive? I would like to buy one as soda stream brand are unethical - but the expense puts me off
Sodastream are not "unethical"
Has anyone had their Aarke II leak from the bottle socket? I have more gas coming from there then seems to be going in the bottle
Hi Lisa - the “ threads “ on both the AARKE bottle and the actual unit are quite coarse and thus you must make sure NOT to cross thread them ; also make sure that the bottle is properly mated to the unit fairly firm as if it isn’t done up correctly it will leak Co2 around the flange !
it screws in fine and lines up...maybe a bad flange?
Lisa how long have you had this bottle ? Perhaps use another bottle and see if that also leaks ! If it does it must be the female thread on the AARKE -
I've had two Aarke units and I've experienced this on both. It's not to do with the thread; how tightly the bottle is screwed in makes no difference. I made contact with Aarke and sent them a video of the issue. Soon after something broke inside the lever that prevented gas discharging from the cylinder anyway so we got a new one under warranty. Same issue with leaking appeared after a few weeks. I've concluded it is to do with the inability of the bottle to seal properly when fully engaged and the seal material is dry. On a daily basis I will carbonate 4 bottles in succession and on each occasion the first bottle will leak and the subsequent bottles won't, or will only leak a very small amount. The small amount of water that sprays out when the lever is release seems to be enough to lubricate the seal and provide a gas tight seal for the next bottle.
I have had 4 bottles for only 4 months, never put them in the dishwasher and all 4 bottles have had the bottoms fall off and the lids detach from the plastic base.
Yes, I can tell that gas escapes whenever I’m gassing the bottle, as I can feel it. Unfortunately I bought mine Xmas 2019 and living in Victoria with Covid hitting straight after then, I couldn’t get to the shops, so I let it go. It’s still functional and I use it a lot, but it’s costing more in replacement gas than I think it should
why does my machine leak underneath the machine each time a use it and it is alot most times
I have the same trouble. The over pressure valve is in the foot of the carbonator under the tray. A little water always is expelled there when the valce is activated. I am not sure if water is leaking via the 4 screws in the corners or via the opening where the (black) valve extrudes into the tray. Which ever it is, the result is water accumulating between the plastic bottom plate and the stainless steel body. This then overflows and then creates a puddle under the machine. I expect I will contact them and end up having to ship it back and then wait a long time for a replacement. At least it is still under warranty.
Have this same issue- was going to return it to Harvey Norman tomorrow.
If you overfill it it will definitely happen as the water sprays up inside the unit when you release the handle. It can be avoided by only filling to the line and releasing the pressure slowly by releasing the handle slowly.
Where are these manufactured? Who owns the company? where are the refill cartridges manufactured?
where is this product manufactured? where is the company head office?
it says "designed in Sweden"... but who owns the company?
Is it really "Swedish"? I really need to know
David, Two seconds of Googling "Aarke" will answer most of your questions. Aarke does not make gas refill cartridges at all. In Australia and New Zealand, they use SodaStream cartridges. However, if you've read my review at all, you would be best served by attaching a much larger cylinder and running a line directly to your carbonator (SodaStream or Aarke). Available from brewery shops.
If you want to know who owns the company, try asking the company itself. However, according to the Aarke website, the only office is registered in Sweden, it was co-founded with a Swedish gas company. It doesn't seem to be on the Nordic Nasdaq (Stockholm Exchange) so it may be entirely privately owned and operated, or part of a parent company. In either case, providing this sort of information to the general public is unlikely. Frankly, I don't see how the ownership changes anything about the product itself.
Swedish is probably an unrealistic expectation unless it's a local Swedish craftsman using local materials and doing everything on-site. These days, you'll find that most products are from MANY countries instead of one. In metal products like the Aarke, it's reasonable to assume that the component metals will be mined in some specific country or countries, often refined in others, then usually machined assembled wherever it is cheapest to do so. Rarely will this actually be in Sweden.
Unsurprisingly, the label on the bottom of mine says "Made in China".
That's it. I hope I answered your "need" for answers. Please limit your questions here to user experiences, and do your own homework from now on.
I hope this helps, Hamish.
Has anyone had their Aarke Carbonator jam on them and had to let gas run until empty ?. And has anyone had their unit (unknowingly) leak until it was empty ?
I have never had that problem. Mine works very well. I have had problems with the Carbonator bottles though. One in particular lasted only a couple of days. Took it back and was given another one to replace it. Try returning yours under warranty. Must be something amiss with it.
Hi there, I haven't had that problem. I'd definitely take it back under warranty. But if you're wanting a quick fix, you might want to try replacing the seal. There should be a spare seal located under a sticker located on the bottom of the Aarke. Follow the instruction manual for replacement.
I hope this helps! Hamish.
