good it seems – good brand and good reel, its a little small for me, dont buy it if you cant cast properly with these types of reels as they can be sensitive and you can loose alot of line. If you know how to handle them its a pleasure to use this kind of reel.

The older 6000c brass plated chrome model will outlast the cheaper newer ones – The 6000c from the 60's can be put on a 5000c frame from the 60's by switching side plates to make a more controlable reel with added bait clicker,I have never had this reel fail and it has caught me monsters.You can take a shakespeare rod medium heavey to heavey and replace the eyes and tip with saltwater guides and you have a monster quest rod. Solid and vintage is better quality. Heavey,but it will last forever and build muscle lol!

Perfect all-round Salmon reel – Have been using Abu 6000 for over 15 years, and it has been a splendid performer. Salmon fishing in NZ is a matter of cast and retrieve all day, in dry dusty river beds. Tought on any equiptment...but the ABU 6000 just eats it up. It casts as far as much more expensive reels. This reel is bullet-proof. I'm expecting to be able to leave it to my grandson when I finally retire it. Well done ABU. High performance....low maintenance.
