Terrible experiences – acer es1-521-68y6 aspire es 15 16gb ram 1tb hd is the worst laptop I ever had. Keeps freezing up and shutting down if trying to watch a video after about 2 minutes. Takes about 30 minutes or more to restart. various keys no longer work meaning I need to copy and past numbers from elsewhere. Often shuts down after about 20 minutes.
Works well - ACER Aspire ES – With 8gb RAM included, this computer is way faster than anything I've had. So, I can use it for streaming TV and movies. The keyboard has a nice feel. It fires up quickly and does not crash. My last two laptops I've owned have tended to get hot, but this seems relatively cool even after several hours of use. Cons: it doesn't have a touch screen.… Read more
Then again, you won't have a screen with ugly finger marks all over it.
Biggest con: I tried to do a system restore and it would not complete it. When I tried to log back in, the screen was just black. I had to go to the ACER web site for help and I reinstalled Windows 10. This worked and no files were lost. Still, it was all a bit scary. There are lots of desktop apps - ebay, Netflix, Microsoft Store, games, etc - that I will never use. If you use this stuff, most of them are probably already there.
Very happy with this purchase. Exceeded expectations. I only rated it at 4 because of the system restore thing.
Horrible – I got this laptop 2 years ago, and it’s started to turn off on its own, make a buzzing noise and freezing, super slow and can no longer watch movies or play games due to it freezing if you don’t move the mouse, for what I paid I would expect it to last longer then 2 years, very disappointed!!!!! Not to mention the keys come off easily!!
Acer aspire es15 es1-523-499i – Struggles to do the very basics I use it for such as word document and internet browsing. I have bought laptops half the price that have been much better. Often jams and just cant efficiently do basic request. Very disappointing buy was expecting a lot more for the price paid. Show details
Best value for money laptop – Ok. In the past I've owned laptops from Dell, Acer, HP and Lenovo. I can honestly say that, in comparison to the Aspire, the rest are garbage. Especially the HP which was double the price, and kicked the bucket only after a year of general use. My first Acer Aspire purchase was in 2008 and since then, I've purchased 3 others, with the Dell, HP… Read more · 1
and Lenovo being in between.
The only reason I'm on my fourth is because I've a) given two away and b) the third one met a horrible fate by having hot coffee spilt on it.
For around the $500 mark, you won't find a better laptop. This latest one still has a DVD/CD player (which most laptops these days no longer have) a quad core processor, 15 inch screen and 8 gig of memory (which suits me just fine)
In the seven odd months of ownership, it's never acted up once, is very fast and does everything its told to do without a hitch. Let's see if it outlasts my first one, which went for 5 years straight, and who knows how many more after I gave it away.
These should be recalled – I bought two of these laptops for $1100 for my kids, and the are not fit for purpose, my kids can not even do their school work on them without them crashing or freezing, I am furious. They should not be allowed to sell this rubbish, I feel extremely ripped off Acer, I shall be ringing the ACCC if I can't my money back. Show details
Keeps shutting down – I will never have another Acer. It randomly shuts down. It's as slow as a wet week. I was talked into buying this Acer as a replacement for a HP by a very slick salesperson. Lessons learned: check out reviews before purchasing; don't listen to slick salesperson; never purchase Acer product; stick to HP. Show details
Waste Of Money – Acer Aspire ES 15 - 16gb Ram, 1TB hard drive. I bought one of these laptops from Officeworks in June 2107, had problems with it almost straight away. I am not a heavy computer user I bought the laptop purely for my studies (only program I installed on it was office 2016). The laptop was very slow and unresponsive, constantly freezing. took at least 5 minutes to respond. Often when I turned it on it would decide to install updates which sometimes took 3 hours. Reset it back to factory settings 3 times before giving up and trying to return it. Thinking my warranty of 12 months would cover it because it is definitely not functioning how it should. I took it back to Officeworks they said they couldn't do anything about it, so no return or refund from them. One of the store workers had a play around with it and said himself it was unreasonably slow but then said it was a cheap laptop, to me $600 is not cheap. Ended up sending it back to Acer to be fixed, got it back within reasonable time but now i really don't want to use it. Have heard a lot of negativity about Windows 10 but not being a computer technician myself I just want a computer that you can turn on and use and not have to spend hours deleting things that are constantly updating themselves. Avoid this product. Do not make the same mistake I did
Very nice laptop – This laptop is an excellent machine for the price ($499). It runs an AMD A4 quad core processor with AMD Radeon R3 graphics at 1.8 GHz, 4 gig ram upgradable to 16 gig and a 500gb hdd. It has a 15 inch screen and has windows 10. Had been a very good laptop, runs at a good pace, nice clear screen and easy to use. Not to heavy and looks great. Show details
