Doesn't even deserve 1 star – Takes 20minutes AT LEAST to start up and actually open a program. freezes and gets completely confused if you ask it to do anything that requires processing . Only good for waiting half an hour to get onto a kids educational website and letting them loose from there. Makes a better doorstop than a computer. Show details

Not happy – Same issue as everyone else with the small harddrive and huge win10 operating system.. wondering if can run win7 or linux to retrieve some space. The battery also packed up so can only be used with adapter.. Show details

Heap of junk! – I purchased the device in January 2018 and within 30 days it was trying to install a Windows 10 update. A message kept appearing "Cannot install updates, insufficient disk space". I tried to disable the updates but it kept trying to install the updates to my frustration. I ignored the messages and kept using the device. Three months after the… Read more

warranty expired the device went into sleep mode and I could not restart it. I took it to a computer repairer and they managed to restart it. Two months later the same thing occurred and I took it back to the repairer and they told me they were unable to restart it. I took the device to a second repairer and they are of the opinion that the motherboard was faulty. So I have another piece of junk to recycle.

Fabulous – My Acer runs perfectly well. Never had a problem with speed or updates. I use it for internet, word processing, Adobe Creative Suite, Kindle, Audible and Netflix. No issues at all. It's compact, light and easy to carry around. I don't use it for gaming (beyond Minecraft) and I haven't attempted to add a bunch of stuff to it, because it's not designed for that. I even spilled hot tea on it at xmas and it has since recovered. Show details

Useless with the size of the 28g drive – Wife bought it thinking it was a bargain. Works great until you try to add anything at all that use drive space. If you want to use it with anything worthwhile (Office etc.) run it all from an external drive as there are no fittings inside to add one in there  Show details

Great for normal use – Mine came with 500gb storage and it works pretty smooth. let us get this straight... no one buys a 400 dollar laptop with high expectations. I bought mine for school and it does absolutely great in performance but it has its faults. It is not built for games so if the games are very hard to run this pc won't be able to play it. overall it is a great comp for simple school work and I definitely recommend  Show details

Total waste of money – Buying this was a total mistake. It is just pure junk. It comes with just 28GB of memory and 24GB is preloaded so just have 4 GB left. It does not even have enough memory to update the latest Windows 10 security update. They have not made a slot for a memory card so I might as well just chuck it in the bin. Acer conned us good on this one and think that will be last acer I buy. Back to Tosiba and Sumsung  Show details

Useless piece of JUNK – I bought this to run one program which it did fine until it came time to upgrade Win 10 because it kept insisting I did or would not be supported any longer. Windows 10 is using 23.3 gb plus other Win associated files of the 32gb SSD so there is not enough space to do the upgrade. The SSD can't be upgraded like most computers as the SSd is… Read more

soldered in and does not have the needed connection to upgrade.

One star is much to high for this rubbish but that's as low as it can be rated!

Bought January 2017 from Harvey Norman. Most unimpressed!

It does alright – It build quality is good and solid. The pentium N3700 runs at an adequate speed. The screen is pretty bad especially when viewed at different angles, this becomes really annoying when using it in tablet mode and it's even worst in portrait. I use it for some light gaming and it runs at a decent quality at this price point. Nonetheless, it is still a good replacement for my late Asus T100.  Show details

Worst computer – Absolute biggest waste of money. I've had it for less than two months and it doesn't even function properly 75% of the time. I just spent 45 minutes trying to open internet explorer and Firefox and BOTH of them give me error messages and refuse to open and then the computer restarts itself. Nothing works, it's giving me error messages constantly, and it isn't worth anything near what I payed for it. Total piece of junk.  Show details

Spend a bit more and get a better laptop – I was swayed by the cheap price and a cashback special. I wish I spent a bit more as what I am left with is a cheap sub standard computer that is barely good enough to surf the web. I would definitely recommend spending a little more and getting something with a bit more grunt,  Show details

Great for travelling if you don't mind a small storage capacity – I purchased this laptop specifically for travelling and also for the price - I did not want to pay a lot for a laptop which wasn't going to be used a lot. I wanted it mainly for keeping in touch via email etc. Yes I know that I can also do that with my mobile phone but I prefer a larger screen and keyboard than on a mobile phone. I also use it to… Read more

plan routes which I can upload to my Garmin satnav device while travelling (using Mapsource or Basecamp application).

Sure it isn't particularly fast but what can you expect for just over $300.

Also the inbuilt storage (pseudo hard drive) is only 32Gb part of which is taken up by a partition containing the operating system (Windows 10) so that you can rebuild the system if you ever run into any problems which gives you only about 28Gb usage space and when Windows 10 is installed this takes about 12Gb leaving only about 16Gb.

BUT what I did when I installed the few programs I wanted I used a 32Gb (you can also use a 64GB card) micro SD card plugged into the side which becomes drive D:. Now I could install applications without reducing the limited space on the C: drive.

The battery seems to last quite a while between charges (I get about 8 or 9 hours maybe more).

For the price I think it is a good laptop but if you are after speed and larger storage (C: drive) then buy a more expensive Laptop (probably more than $500).

One thing I did NOT like is that the USB ports (there are 2) are on the left side of the laptop. I use a wired mouse rather than the touchpad and being right handed the cord goes from the left side to the right side. A slight inconvenience.

I have rated it excellent based on the price (sure its not excellent when compared to a much more expensive laptop).

Also don't try to multitask too many applications (have multiple applications running at the same time) as with only 4Gb of memory it will need to use the 'swap file' (page file) to swap data more often which will slow it down. I have not experienced any bad slowness. Sure it's not as fast as my desktop which has 8GB RAM and a Pentium i7 processor but is only 25% of the cost. You get what you pay for.

It's a Snail – I bought this computer for my teenage son 6 months ago. It was slow right from the beginning, particularly when using the internet. As time has gone by (and auto updates etc) this snail has gotten so slow that it is continuously freezing. The storage space is also small - 90% used up in 6 months mostly from updates because my son has been… Read more

Do yourself a favour, avoid this "P76 Leyland" of a computer.

Would rate less than 1 star if I could – My mother bought this laptop for me less than 4 months ago because it looked so cute in the shop. Had to send it back to Acer after 3 weeks for repairs after it wouldn't turn on. Now it is glitching up again, it freezes if you use to many apps at once and randomly shuts down. It was not meant to have Windows 10 and cannot handle it. I wish I'd never seen the cute little thing. Planning on getting a refund this weekend.  Show details

Small laptop useless with WIN10 upgrade – So we needed a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) for our son starting Year 7. Found this Acer for a good price through JB-HiFi. Unfortunately it runs Windows 10 and when you update the OS it doesn't have enough space to finish the upgrade. You can not upgrade the internal hard drive as it is soldered to the motherboard and Acer have not included a… Read more

Sata point on the motherboard to plug in another one. Your only alternative it to use an external USB hard drive or memory stick and run Windows 10 from that. I have tried to clean out the 32gb onboard drive but with recovery and other basic software I'm 3gb short of the upgrade (9gb needed only 6gb available).

Further investigations found this laptop was originally meant to run Win 8.1 only but MS need everyone on Win10 it just doesn't have the memory.

Good points are that it runs 2 x Wifi 5ghz included - the only reason we bought it as our school runs 5ghz wifi. It has touch screen.

EDIT: SD Card reader now has stopped working with no solution available.
