Acer Swift 1 SF114-32

Good Value For the Price – I purchased my Acer Swift from Officeworks a month ago, and love it. Some of the complaints on here are fairly petty, considering the price is in the mid $400 range, which despite some comments is not expensive. My only complaint is that the 64 Gb memory is really not enough in this day and age. But, I purchased a 5Tb external hard drive at the same time, for less than $200, knowing this was the case, and it still cost a lot less than some equivalent models. Perhaps those experiencing slow running should investigate an external drive, as the 64Gb is quickly chewed up by running apps etc.

Nice form factor and does the job – Not an amazing laptop by any means but when you spend under $400 you don’t really expect that. The build quality is pretty solid and the body has next to no flex except the fact that the top of the lid starts to cave in slightly if you push down on it (it still springs back fine though). Also I don’t know if this is common or not but I feel like the metal bezel around the screen might not have been sized 100% right because mine consistently pops out partially in one spot and needs to be regularly pushed back in. 64gb of storage is adequate for me but I have minimal programs installed and use a network attached external hard drive. You can upgrade the storage by adding a sata m.2 ssd but it’s not something I would recommend to anyone less than moderately tech savvy. The precision touch pad is a fantastic touch because it allows you to do all sorts of multitasking gestures and the fingerprint reader is also very convenient. Overall it’s a decent machine for media consumption, study, etc.

Terrible! I only got it for study, emails and word use and it cant even do basic stuff – I have never used ACER computers and I never will buy ACER ever again. Boy was I let down with this purchase. For paying $400 at Office works - that's not cheap. Because this laptop struggles to do the most basic of stuff like run or open windows, type emails or type in word! Every time I use it, it crashes or it is painfully slow. I have virtually nothing on the computer and its operating very slowly as if I have used it for years. It takes 20 seconds to open word and even then when you start typing there is a lag issue where you won't see what your typing. The speakers are on the bottom the computer so when you're watching a video such as youtube you have to lift the laptop up in your hands to hear the sound otherwise it's muffled. Waste of money, bad graphics, bad memory and bad storage. No, I do not recommend. Dont buy! Way overpriced.

Good cheap laptop – Bad... - Can't upgrade memory - The BIOS is clumsy. Need to set passwords to change the boot priority. - Windows Home is in S mode. Needs a free app from the Microsoft Store to remove it. Also several disk formats clears it from returning. - Looks like an Apple Macbook Good... - Runs quickly. - SSD is upgradable. - Screen is Full HD and so very clear. - Small screen bezel. - Metal lid. - Keyboard is LED backlit. - Has a USB C port. - Long battery life. - Light weight.
