Hi I have replaced my 58v batteries and now my mower battles to start. Tried an old battery and it seems to start as it should. Thanks

Is the AEG 58V lawn mower available as skin only? Already have 3x AEG 58V batteries & charger (chainsaw), don't need any more.

Remove blades on 58v mower

That's my question. I want to know how to remove the blades.

Just using impact rattle gun and use it on low speed do not use it on high speed because you may break the scent bolt

What is the running time on this lawn mower I'm after one that's 2hours

I have a re-current problem with the battery not staying in position. I put it in, then check it won’t pull out without pressing the release button and start mowing. The slightest bump and it stops……..battery not in correct position. It has been repaired once but is just as bad again after a couple of mows. Thank you for a reply. Heather G.

Hey guys, I have had not end of issues with the AEG 58v mower deck fracturing on the inside/underneath front right and left chassis, the bit where the circular deck meets the front wheel assembly. Has anyone else noticed this at all? Can you all have a quick look at your decks for me? Currently aeg are saying its exclusive to me but I know for a fact it isn't. Cheers

My front wheels dropped which resulted in the deck being 40 mm lower at the front. I think the adjusting link on the left straightened out & changed height of front wheels., blades were cutting troughs in the lawn. Tilt a big dinner plate to get the idea of blades not being square to the ground, cuts low in the centre & high on the edges. Left rear wheel weld broke which made the mower useless. Not sure if my wheel problem is the same as your deck problem, but the actual deck on mine is intact. The plastic side chute is broken, hit a hidden dog bone, it would have been good if the chute was metal. It has been posted that there were 2 different decks, the 1st had the blades up high inside which made the mower hard to push on lush grass which I think mine is, the later the blades are lower & less protected by the skirt on the base. I hope mine is replaced with the 2nd design as when it was explained made total sense, they are hard to push through long grass. Will have to follow up at Bunnings, I've been waiting 3 weeks now with no feed back

Same. Small straight fracture on both sides of the deck

I have had the mower for maybe 3yrs. Pros. it has better batteries than the DeWalt equivalent (but is not a better mower) Stores vertically Has 2 batteries Cons. 1) Doesnt cut grass as in the blades need 2 passes over the grass, at any level to mulch the lawn. Constantly leaves long stragglers that need a second pass. The blades are not spinning fast enough is my tak. I have sharpened and replaced the blade twice now and no better, the blade goes blunt way too fast as compared to my 20yrs old petrol 4blade Rover. 2) Battery life is already dropping off noticeably. I have 235m2 of lawn and previously I could, in summer, cut the lot and use the line trimmer and blower with just the 2 batteries. Now I have to come back the next day for the blower and trimmer as the 2 batteries are done on day 1. 3) Removing the batteries from any of the devices; mower, line trimmer, blower, chainsaw is an absolute nonsense. The release mechanism doesnt release. I have googled, and silicone lubed and ........ just poor design. 4) Handle hinge fittings are low end and soon become flogged out at the handle hinge and the pull pin locking point. Just sloppy design with no finesse. 5) Cannot get the cut height down to a lawn level as the deck bottom to blade relationship means the blade is tucked up into the skirt too far. This si also responsible for the multiple passes required to cut grass and the skirt lays the grass down and it does not come up before the blade passes over it. Mowers have been aroind for ever how come AEG made such fundamental errors?

Would I buy again = no Why did I buy? Dewalt batteries were terrible with little life. Other brands did not bundle enough of the other tools in to use the same battery. 58V 6AH battery was the largest at the time. Ryobi was the best deal at Bunnings but had a small cut area.

Hopefully there are better e-mowers out there now, however I am stuck with this as all my tools use the batteries.

Update. Today after the 2nd part of the cut cycle I notice the handle is real sloppy at the point where the quick release pins pass through the handle. On closer inspection I see the handle is splitting around the hole for the pin to lock it in place. So I called Bunnings (Australia) and I need to return the entire purchase, mower, charger, batteries, etc and then it goes away for a repair. Good thing the fast growing season is nearly over as they said @ 2 weeks repair time...... we will see. Good thing I registered all the items online else Id be out of warranty. 3yrs and 4 months of a 6 year warranty, 3 years if you dont register online.

Never thought a mower would only last 3 years. My old Rover was 20+ and still going. Not pretty and quite harsh but made of real metals and not the thin tubing of the AEG.

Pleased = no. It's a lot of money tied up in some pretty average quality metal.

I think there will be a lot of these at the tip in a few years.

I totally agree, there a piece of rubbish always doing 2 passes you can't cut short as deck bottoms out and then you can't push them, cheap and nasty at a premium price

How long should a battery last/ stay charged for ??

I fully charged a brand new battery, started to mow my lawn it went flat just after 30 minutes, is that normal ( im only talking about 1 battery)

Stevo GJ
Stevo GJ

Hi Lizzie, a battery may go flat after 30 minutes depending on how thick/long the grass is. Taking things a bit slower than hooking hard into it may be better as well. I think I get 40-45 minutes but I have 2 batteries so just change over & put the flat 1 straight on the charger. No matter what brand you choose 2 batteries will save a lot of frustration. My son bought the Victa 82v 18 inch & a trimmer. I have only used the trimmer & it's a ripper, will have to give the mower a test run. I can understand/sympathize distance anxiety with electric cars now!

Hi just wondering, Would you pick the DeWalt or AEG? I have the AEG and like yourself don't love it. I also have a lot of DeWalt tools so was thinking of switching

were can I purchase spare parts for aeg alm58b brushless mower?

Craig
Craig

I emailed AEG support when I had a dodgy battery. They directed me back to Bunnings (where I purchased the tools) and they sent the battery away. New one was back after a couple of weeks. I'd start with AEG support. They were ok to deal with. How's the mower? That's my next purchase.

Adrian Easton

Thanks Craig.Very happy with the mower. Gave it a good test a couple of times on return from holidays. The governed revs' kept up through long grass. The side chute flap got shattered when I hit a hidden rock. That's the part I'm after. Apart from that incident its a good mower. No regrets. Adrian.

Ive also had the plastic side chute cover break. Weakness with this mower? All mowers hit an occasional stone.

Adrian Easton
Adrian Easton

Yes micklemickle it is a weakness in this mower. As Craig stated Bunnings is the place to go for spares. I must praise Bunnings for ordering the part in, within three working days. I ordered in two chute flaps. The spare one I am looking at using to fabricate one out of aluminum, which I feel should have been made of initially.

My new lawnmower keeps stopping one of the batteries is fully charged the other had 3 lights is there any reason why this would be happening??

Adrian Easton
Adrian Easton

Hi Lizzie, I had the same problem a couple of times. The battery wasn't pushed fully in. Once you have installed the battery, try pulling it out without pressing the release button. This will ensure the battery is properly seated.

Lizzie M.
Lizzie M.

Hi Adrian i think it was a dodgy battery as it kept happening, ive had both batteries replaced and only lasted 30 mins on a lawn that was not that long, but i will definitely check to make sure the batteries are secured thanks

What is the difference between brushless and other types of motor

Jac
Jac

Hi I only know brushless uses magnets instead of carbon so there is less friction improving performance. But I'm no mechanic, best to do your own research to see what suits you best. We want to know if the clutch is wet or dry but age don't seem to know
