Excellent cooktop – I like this induction cooktop a lot. I chose it to replace a Bosch one with the most awful fiddly controls which I could not tolerate any longer after struggling with it for almost a year. I wanted a Miele as I’d had one before, liked it and knew the controls were simple, but the cutout dimension didn’t quite work. So I chose this one instead, and am very pleased with my choice. The beveled edge is most attractive, and having no frame also makes it super easy to clean. Most importantly, the unit is as easy to use as my previous induction tops (excluding the dreadful Bosch). Simple — just switch the unit on (one touch), then select the plate and power level. Even easier, pop a pan on the chosen plate and it highlights that one for me, so I only need to select the heat level. Increase, decrease or turn off individual plates is just one touch. (The Bosch? Don’t ask — multiple touches of a tiny target, grr) I agree with another reviewer the front controls are a bit close to the plates and as you aren’t supposed to put pans on the controls, this is an issue. It won’t recognise a small stainless steel saucepan I have used without issue on another cooktops, amd aim disappointed about that, so it isn’t perfect. But to me these are minor gripes compared to its ease of use and sleek design. Fast, efficient, easily cleaned, attractively styled and so so easy to use. Everything a good induction cooktop should be.

Could be a lot better – Does not recognise a small pan I’ve always used on my old Kleenmaid. Controls are too close to front pans. The hob shuts off way to easily when frying. A lot slower to heat water compared with my Kleenmaid. I expected a better product after all this time. My Kleenmaid was over 15 years old when one side packed up, so thought I would get a new hob. Very disappointed.

Purchased in at Harvey Norman for $2,299.

AEG IPE64551FB Induction Cooktop – Have this cooktop for over a month now. Quite a few problems with it. 1. When you have pot on one of the cooking zones, the control bar will blink till you touch the required setting, but what happens with my cooktop is that sometimes one of the control bar’s will blink even though I do not have a pot on there, understandably if it was a big pot but this is a small pot, this happens randomly. (see photo, control panel blinks on left side) 2. The Hob2hood randomly stays on even though I have turned off the cooktop, and I do not have it connected to my hood. Trying to turn it off manually is extremely difficult, sometimes it will turn off other times I just have to leave it on. 3. Occasionally there is a whistling sound (which is very frustrating). 4. It does not cook evenly, and cooktop does get hot as I was told you can touch it and it won’t be hot, (like in the demonstration at the store). I called AEG, thinking they may help me with these issues and maybe able to rectify it by something I may need to do. All I was told that they can bring a service fellow out but if he feels that it is not a manufacturing fault, I will have to pay $185 call out fee. This cooktop was very expensive for us to purchase, as we were talked into getting it as the salesperson said how good it is and how good it is to deal with AEG. I am now finding that we have made an awfully bad decision and that AEG has extremely poor after sales customer service.
