I am planning to buy the ceramic cooktop for 199$. How big opening in the bench top does it require? Dimensions please. Thank you.

We bought the Sterling Cook top and Oven Combo from Aldi - far from impressed with either. The oven works ok for the price, but the white numbers on the setting and temperature dials wore off almost immediately- we now estimate the the temperature and only use the one setting -3 clicks clockwise for cooking. As for the cook top, a complete waste of money- the rear cook plates went first followed by the front two not long after - we were using the last cook plate to get by, but it is now shortening out our electricity safety switch every time it is turned on. We have been looking for the receipt, but judging by the comments on here it looks like a waste of time pursuing the service company for a result. I will never buy another electronic product from Aldi, the so called center 'island of dreams' should be renamed 'the island of crap' Ps. we also bought a battery operated vacuum cleaner - which was pretty useless as well considering it hardly sucked!!! It lasted less than 12 months Aldi should be taken to task for selling products that aren't up to standard.

your right-stirling products are a hit and miss (mostly miss) The quality is so so but the durability is on par with crap from a 2 dollar shop The service company is overseas and couldn't give a damn about complaints never mind about service I purchased the stove top (last of for 50 dollars weee) and one of the elements stopped after 2 weeks-stopped fighting the service company after a month, the useless butt holes-but hay-for 50 dollars we still have 3 elements working so I guess we got a good deal- When we renovate the kitchen, I will either dump it into the trash or use the sucker in my man cave soo take my advise an Stay away from stirling electronic crap

How to unlock stove top

shelbynotright

There's a key symbol next to the operational symbol.press your finger on this and keep it there until you hear the tone and the lock indicator should go out-the hot plate works ok and is cheap (we got ours for $50) BUT you will be in trouble (as with ALL Stirling products) if you have any issue;s in operation or faults,;ONE ONE can fix them.,you will not be able to replace them-you will only be offered your money back (if you are lucky enough to keep your receipt)The so called service company will only give lip service but will do nothing

how can I get a copy of the specifications on the cooktop?

You can't-If you do, it will be a miracle and don't bother with the service company, they couldn't care less , Even if you could find some specifications, good luck finding a repair man to fix anything. I was told by some stove repair men that they would not touch stirling stoves with a smelly rag

you are either very unlucky or I am very lucky. I have a ceramic cooktop for now 2 years. Not a mark on it and cleans easily. If food is cooked on it will take a bit of elbow grease but I have always managed to get it clean just with a paper towel and Cerapol. Never used a scaper and do not keep cooking on a dirty plate. My sister has a very expensive one and she has problems cleaning because she leaves spills too long and cooks on top of them. My electrician told me after installation that it would be safer not to use all 4 plates at once to avoid overloading due to the type of circuit I had, not because of the cooktop. I also have an espresso coffee machine, the same brand, still working after many years, and a convection microwave. No problem at all. I always read all instructions before using any appliance to make sure I know what to do. Maybe those having problems don't do this.
