ALDI Ferrex Vertical Air Compressor 50L

Piston ring gone – Haven’t had it very long and the piston ring has already gone! Tried to find one to suit, but it must be an odd size because I cannot find one anywhere!
Broke after third use – I purchased the compressor from ALDI in Penrith and used it twice to blow some dust out of a computer. The next time I used the compressor, the internal plastic airhose blew a hole in itself after it pressured up. I know it's only a cheap compressor, but it should have lasted longer than a few weeks. Good warranty - crap product – 2nd Aldi upright direct-drive compressor I have owned. The 1st one (Workzone 40L) at least lasted a couple of years before it died. But this one (Ferrex 50L upright air compressor model HC52V) lasted just 7 months. Won't build pressure anymore. Tried to contact Scheppach (who are the support agent listed for it). Their phone number wasn't even… Read more
connected for the first couple of days of trying. Emailed them - no reply. Thought I'd try to call Aldi - no luck as they no longer list a phone number on their website (as least that I could find). Only option was to fill in the Aldi contact us/fault form. Someone from Aldi (definitely offshore) eventually called me to basically tell me "sorry - we'll do something". After some phone tag with Scheppach (their phone works now but it is just an answering service - bad look!), I finally spoke to someone who told me they don't keep the spares I might need so I'd need to lug it back to Aldi for a refund. Luckily I have a photo of the receipt. 5 year warranty (which I think is weird if they have no parts, but hey).
Ya gets what ya pay for.
RIP Mrs Aircom Pressor! I still love you Aldi – To start, let me tell you it was my first love with an first compressor (being equal opportunity and all type of guy) having courted with the idea after I first set eyes on her I plucked up the courage and took her home to meet the family. In the beginning, she didn't disappoint. As a handy man type, she was used minimally. But after about 2… Read more
months I noticed a change in her tone. I didn't think much of it until another couple of weeks where after blowing off for a good while she gave up on me... She was out of puff! I rang the great guys on the Aldi. Support Hotline (Emergency Care) and after an explanation of the symptoms, they said sadly "it was too late!"... "looks like she's blown a piston". It was a terminal illness. There was nothing they could do for my old gal... and she went up to 'compressor heaven' in the sky. Luckily, without hesitation they resurrected my faith in Aldi (being a bit of an Aldi tart if I must say so myself!) and after I offered some details the caring and respectful souls provided a full refund solving any buyers remorse, other than the absolute inconvenience and time. Out of all of the Aldi products I have purchased, other than one problem with a circular saw, I haven't had any issues at all. Maybe she was a lemon from the start and things were just never going to work with her. RIP Mrs Aircom Pressor!
Caught on fire!!!! Very dangerous!!!! – Worked fine for the first few months then caught on fire, nearly set my on fire, very dangerous piece of equipment! If you own one take it back before warranty is out, seems like a common issue
