It works OK on smooth terain with no hiden rocks etc in the grass. If you had a small unit with a well mown lawn this would be a useful tool. As soon as you hit anything like a hidden redgum sleeper it bends the blades in an instant :-(

Surprised – Used in very sandy soil and soon the upturn of the blade was worn. Removed blade and welded the holes in the upturn part and built up the cutting edge and resharpened. Did this regularly to keep a good cut and extract the cuttings to the catcher. November of 2024 noticed the mower was making a straining noise and smelt hot. Pulled the covers off… Read more

and removed the noisy bearings. Using the mower for extended periods of time the small amount of grease in the bearings had dried up. All the bearing housings are plastic and one housing had melted slightly out of shape. Made a shim to pack around the bearing and packed all the bearings with new grease plus a high pressure lubricant additive. I expect I could get another 4 years use out of this mower before repacking the bearings again. I had low expectations when I bought the mower and used it carefully. I am surprised that it has lasted this long. It is a cheaply built plastic mower and the safety switch arrangement is annoying to use but if used with care it has given me good value for my money.

Jan 2026 My repairs did not last as long as I expected. The plastic bearing housing was unable to keep the proper alignment and started making noises again. Still for the price it has been good value for me as it has done a lot of work.

Never buy an Aldi electric mower – Mower was used on a small patch of lawn for a couple of seasons then the main shaft that the blades are attached to SNAPPED! Luckily the blades didn't fly out & cut me. Now I find I can't get replacement parts for it. Useless - whole mower rendered rubbish because of one part. How are your green credentials Aldi. Should have known better anyway as it's made in China. Show details

A very good mower for the price – Cost $99 from Aldi 3 years ago and I'm still using it. That's only $33 a year. If it stops now, I've done ok. Check your lawn for obstacles before use; don't blame the mower. Show details

Two plastic pins that hold blades break easily – If you like flicking a 240V cord around all the time while mowing, it’s an okay mower for a while. If you hit anything even remotely solid and you’ll probably snap off the two plastic lugs that go through two holes in the blade and spin the blade. The motor will keep spinning but the blade will only move intermittently. An obvious design fault which appears to be trapping many buyers sooner or later. Junk. Show details

Never buying from ALDI again – Purchased from ALDI in November 2019, but not used for a couple of months because of the dry summer. Then mowed the lawns 2 and a half times. Half because it broke halfway. Same problem as someone else here - the motor runs but the blade doesn't turn. Called the warranty line 5 or 6 times. No help, no refund. I am never buying anything from ALDI again. Show details

Rubbish mower – Stopped after about 6 mins of mowing. And continued to stop. Changed ext cords, not overheating only 20 degrees while mowing...20 min job took nearly an hr...took it back and got a refund... Show details
