The new kindle – Bought the new kindle for the kids. The storage space is bigger so they are able to store and read more books. Not much significant upgrade from previous models but overall great experience.
Which kindle books have already been read? – What is meant by with the word READ that is displayed next to the books in the library ? Is it "read" as in past tense.....or "read" as in to read/ future tense. Generally I remove downloads when I've completed reading a book , but sometimes I swipe accidently and it downloads again...quite frustrating to work out if its already been read . Am I missing something ?
Very pleasantly surprised and perfect for travel – Have always been a hands on page-turning book reader. A few years ago a frequent-traveller friend said she was the same until she got a Kindle as a present from her kids. She said she felt compelled to use it so not to offend her kids and then found she actually loved it! In 2019 with some travel coming up I bit the bullet and bought this Paper… Read more
White from Office Works for $148.00 and well, I love it! Some reviews say it is slow to wake up etc. I don't have a problem with that....it's not THAT slow, so not a problem for me. I love you can adjust the background light easily for whatever situation you are in. I love you can adjust font size so you don't need glasses if you wear them, but forget them. I love it connects to wifi easily. I love it's automatic updates. I love that it is a nice slim tablet and slots in just about anywhere. I love that if you have friends/family that have a Kindle you can create a "family" and share each other's books. Being linked to Amazon, I question the price of some of the new releases sometimes - but still way cheaper than if I raced out to get the book (as I have done many times) Overall, after two years of using this little tablet reader.....I love it! Works so well if you want to travel. NOTE....I said that I was a hands on page-turning reader, right? Well I ended up getting a protective cover that folds over the screen.....so I open it up just like a physical book and that seems to just finish the e-reader experience perfectly for me. It's more like reading a real book.
Reading becomes easier – Love this kindle, reading is fun, easy to navigate books, pages, topics. Light to handle, long lasting battery life. Highly recommended for all lovers of reading on the go or in bed! Show details
It's better than I expected – I'm a lover of physical books, so I have always avoided giving e-readers a chance. So, I won a Kindle this Christmas and, I confess, it's really better then I imagined! It's ligth and very easy to hold to read. You can read lying down easily. I noticed that I read faster in the kindle then in a normal book. It's incredible. I haven't learned how… Read more
to use all of its tools yet, but I really like what I've already know. I am studying English again, and in kindle you can select a word that you do not know and immediately its meaning will appear in the Oxford Dictionary, it is a very practical and useful tool.
Fit for the bin without Overdrive capability – I just received a Kindle Paperwhite as a Christmas gift. However I was very disappointed to learn that Overdrive/Libby compatibility is not available in Australia, despite it being available in the US. This was one of the main reasons I wanted a Kindle and it defies logic that a high-end ereader would not be able to borrow books from my local library. At this stage I will need to sell it and get a different brand of reader. Very disappointing. Show details
Total waste of money – was told that it read epubs.. but then figured out that it does not, the product is dead slow, wifi always drops, when you mention your location as Australia, you see most of the Amazon Kindle feature vanish.. took amazon prime and unlimited but still had to pay for most of the books that I really wanted to read... Not as good as the old ones – I previously owned a kindle paper white bought in 2014 and that was my favourite reading device. When I replaced it in 2020 I was very disappointed with the new version. The battery does not last anywhere near as long as my old one. I only get a couple of weeks out of it, while I used to get a couple of months. I find it very disappointing that Amazon has changed their product to a more inferior model. Show details
this kindle is Carp – I purchased two of these paperwhites and had nothing but trouble. Slow to turn off, can't update, and restarts by itself and loses memory at random. Lucky I got my money back both times sold at officeworks Show details
Great E-reader – This is my first Kindle purchase so I don't really have anything to compare it against but so far my experience has been great. Build quality is good, the screen is nice and easy to read. The back-lighting really helps when reading in the dark. I havent really used it outdoors so I cant comment on brightness in full sunlight. Planning on taking it… Read more
on holiday soon so there is a good chance I will get to test the outdoor brightness and its water resistance, so will edit this review if I run into any problems.
If I had to make any complaints, its probably to do with the way that Amazon lock down the product. Luckily apps like Calibre exist to make it easier to load your own Ebooks onto the Kindle but it would be really nice if Amazon made the Kindle more open.
Love It – I needed to replace my much loved but ancient Sony e-reader and as Sony no longer support their e-reader in Australia I looked at the Kindle. It is fabulous. It is small and light, easy to hold, very easy to read and looks gorgeous with the cover specifically made for the model. It is extremely simple to download the books via Amazon. who can't remember a time when I wasn't reading I still love "proper books" but the Kindle Paperwhite is unbeatable for convenience when travelling or while waiting for appointments. I love the way the cover designed specifically for my model looks so lovely and is fitted to protect the Kindle. I am very satisfied.
If it wasn’t for the lag! – Got 8gb paperwhite 10th gen waterproof reader. Have very mixed feelings. I like the concept but l hate that it lags. Scrolling is extremely poor! I haven’t even downloaded that many books. Not able to download audiobooks. Am on the verge of getting rid of it. Wasnt cheap either! So is it worth the $189 l paid? ABSOLUTELY NOT! Show details
Best e-reader out there – I was tossing up between this and the kobo e-reader and decided to go with the kindle paperwhite as they were pretty much comparable and this was the first time kindle decided to go waterproof. Kindle also has a much larger range of books and the amazon ecosystem at its fingertips. a no brainer for me and highly recommended for anyone Show details

Made me fall in love with reading again – Brings me back to the past when books were such a big part of my life. I’ve picked up reading consistently again and I am really enjoying it. Screen is amazing and the kindle is light enough to use with ease. Battery life is amazing too. Very impressed as a first time ebook user. Show details
First ever Kindle. Impressed – Purchased this Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 10th Generation just two months ago. Was an avid paper book reader before I relocated and had to part with my boxes and boxes of beautiful books. Pros: - Lightweight & easy to carry around - Glare free - easy on the eyes - Could store a large amount of books and saves a huge amount of space! - Could… Read more
adjust font and font size; brightness; invert black and white (great when you want to read in the dark) - Plenty of free books to download from Project Gutenberg (the classics, etc) - Could click a word and instantly look up the definitions from the dictionary - Words that you looked up will be saved so you could review them and build your vocabulary - Could highlight phrases and paragraphs and they will be saved too!
Cons: - New releases and popular modern books could be expensive - I miss the feeling of flipping through a book - but we could always have some paper books at home if we feel like going back to a paper book.
All in all, as a first time digital book user I am very impressed with the Kindle Paperwhite and the value it brings.
Worth every cent! – I love my Kindle, I got it because my friend recommended that I look into eBooks, since my house was getting cluttered with more and more books. This product is perfect for a voracious reader. It fits well in your hands, the lighting doesn't make your eyes any more tired than a normal book, and the battery lasts for weeks (I read for at least an… Read more
hour a day, and it has lasted me about 2.5 weeks after one charge).
The one down side is how expensive eBooks are. Given I am buying my own device, downloading it using my own internet, I don't understand why eBooks are almost the same price as normal books. This isn't anything to do with the Kindle product, it's more the system that it works in.
Overall, I'm still chuffed at this purchase. Would recommend 100%.
Incredibly disappointing – Bought as a replacement for my original keyboard kindle, which is a great unit. The new Paperwhite is hard to use, slow to update, screen is slow to respond to gestures/ swipes for menu or page turn. Bluetooth was not active and the manual does not show how to activate- a lot of web searching shows how. Audible books cannot be downloaded even… Read more
thought the website shows how as does the user guide. Selecting audible content delivery to the Kindle from your account confirms delivery but it never arrives. The backlight is good as is the storage, Battery life is questionable. I would return this product unless Amazon can fix the problems. My experience with support was poor with the agent disconnecting when I pointed out that on the website it shows how to load the Audible books.
