iPad is still the best tablet – I got my iPad through my telco with my phone plan, and couldn't be happier. I take it on the bus and use it for reading eBooks, checking email, watching YouTube and I enjoy playing some games as well. I think it's just an all-round great entertainment device for commuting. I have a lot of apps installed that my kids love too, so it's not just me… Read more
that gets use out of it. I also like that this particular model is a great middle-ground between the iPad Mini and the iPad Pro. It's bigger than the Mini, but without the price-tag of the Pro. It's really an entertainment device, but, a workhorse of an entertainment device. I also love that it syncs my messages, Notes, mail, etc with my iCloud account so I can pick up things from my Mac or iPhone at home and make changes and add more and it'll sync across all my devices (over cellular too when there's no WiFi available). Battery life is also the best of any iPad I've ever had. I can let the kids stream ABC Kids on the iPad all day on the weekends and it won't run out of battery until late in the day.
It's ok – Be careful it works ok but there are problems with the appleipads hot spot, system eg when both iPads go to sleep say over night to when l start them up to work l have to go through a system new iPad that is fitted with Telstra SIM card l have to go into setting move the blue bar from, general setting to hotspot settings, then go to older Apple… Read more
iPad go into settings change from general settings to wifi manually and wait for the two iPads to work to stop this procedure l have a Samsung Galaxy it works well. So l turned it on it pickup my wifi system immediately and as long as the Samsung iPad is active the two Apple iPads would not loose wifi eg when Apple iPads go to sleep mode over night in morning Apple iPads work straight away apple care after 3 months of many phone calls and video sent to them they did not want to know about, this issue along with Telstra Australia vic Apple care finally said by a 4GDongle to wich never heard of spoke to my local Telstra shop and bingo, this device works same as a Samsung Galaxy so l brought one at $99Aust so far so good as far as Apple they gave me $50 iPad cover case for my inconvenience anew iPad would have made me happier so in conclusion of this summery l am not happy person ok between apple and Telstra l don't know who is the worst this may help other people using wifi not the NBN, or broad band, ps l am the person that did a comments on the Havel H2lux l for got to put my name at end of summery l do own the h2 Havel lux yours truly. iPad 5th Generation - My Review, Things To Consider & The Advice I'd Give My Mum! – iPad 5th Generation - My Review, My Experience & What I’d Tell My Mum! Please skip to paragraph three if you're already a tablet user. DISCLAIMER: I really didn't understand what an iPad or tablet was when iPads launched in Australia. I didn't grasp the concept, I couldn't picture when or how I'd use one & I just didn't think they'd be… Read more
a helpful addition to my life. Needless to say I didn't queue up to buy one, I didn’t think I'd ever want one & the last thing I expected was to get one for my birthday a week after Generation 1 iPads were launched.
I was skeptical, but it was a gift (& an expensive one) so of course I gave it a good go & less than two weeks later I had to admit it was the best piece of technology I owned. It's now eight years later (maybe nine) & I still feel the same way. I don't know what I'd do without it, I love the way my Apple devices work together so seamlessly & most of all I love how easy my iPad (Apple products in general) is to use.
Why did I just tell you that? The first reason is because I know I'm a fan of Apple products & I want to be upfront about that. The second reason is because you might be unsure about whether or not a tablet is for you, just like I was. If that's you I suggest asking yourself the following questions & if you answer yes to either or both of questions I think you'll find you'll really enjoy having a tablet -Apple or otherwise.
Here goes; Question 1 - Do you have (or had) an iPhone & love it? Do you use it a lot for email, social media & surfing the net in general? Question 2 - Do you sometimes decide against logging onto your laptop or PC because it's too much hassle? With your laptop you have to get it out, most probably plug it into a power socket, you have to attach cords to upload photo's ect & with your PC you have to sit at a desk, so you can't surf the net while watching TV on the couch, or quickly show someone a photo…..Additional things to consider include - Do you like to read books in hardcopy or digital form? Do you use FaceTime, Skype or other video call technology?
MY REVIEW STARTS NOW:
Even though I've had iPads ever since their release. I have not owned every model. I've held onto my iPads until they've needed to be replaced (out of warranty & something broke), or until a model was released that was vastly different. This time around was slightly different, my niece is in year 12 & needed an iPad her parents really couldn't afford, so I gave her mine & treated myself to a new one. It meant there was less than a year between iPad purchases, so there were definitely not as many exciting changes or upgrades as I've experienced in the past.
Don't get me wrong, I love my iPad 5th Generation, it's the best iPad I've owned & I highly recommend it, it's just not that different to the iPad 4th Generation I'd been using. There are still some exciting changes, having Apple Touch ID incorporated into the home button is one example (I love being able to use my thumbprint to unlock my iPad just like I do with my iPhone), it's lighter, it's more affordable, it has a better rear facing camera (increased from 8 to 12 megapixels, the front facing camera/selfie/video chat camera is still 1.2 megapixels ) & it's definitely faster than its predecessors thanks to its new A9 chip (whatever that is ☺️).
Now the not so great bits: This iPad doesn't have the anti glare screen coating the last couple of models had. It's not been an issue for me, but if you're upgrading from the 3 or 4 to the 5, you'll notice this. I also currently have a scar on my thumb thanks to a nasty cut & my Apple Touch ID is not working. I know I can redo it, I just haven't got around to it & I’ve reverted to using my pin instead.
Things To Consider: It really isn't that different to the iPad 4th Generation, so don't expect much of a difference other than what I've mentioned above.
If My Mum Asked If She Should Buy This I'd Say: If your existing iPad is working fine & meets your needs, wait til the next model comes out to upgrade, but if you're having any issues whatsoever I'd definitely suggest Mum buy the iPad 5th Generation as it is more affordable than ever, it's faster than earlier models & the camera has improved a lot. It also had Apple Touch ID which is great & there are tonnes of Apps available to make her life easier when she's online.

Great tablet - competitively priced – I bought this tablet at an excellent price at JB Hi-Fi and I'm very happy with the value for money. While Apple phones are expensive compared to Android I think their tablets are well priced. This iPad is lightweight and powerful and is great for every day family and school use. Show details
Great product – I use it for personal use and my children also have educational apps on there. Great to put movies on in the car for long trips. Easy to use and operate Show details
Excellent for Uni lectures – I love this iPad due to its flexibility on being so small and slim line, that I can take it anywhere with me. It’s so easy to slip into my hand bag or hold on my hand (in a case) and take to uni. It has excellent graphics and watching movies or uni lectures on it is perfect. It’s great for taking screen shots of parts of my lecture when I need to save information. This is a great item! Show details
Negative reviews
Good Tablet – Great for reading and playing casual games. The display is big and vibrant making it easy to read in both bright and dark situations. The battery life is amazing lasting for multiple days. Show details
Mixed Thoughts – I bought an ipad 6th edition for university, but found a majority of apps were unavailable or displayed incorrectly and formatting between a laptop and ipad to be very difficult despite having the same programs and sharing accounts. The display is better and the ipad its self is smaller with few good features but overall shouldve looked into other products Show details
Could be better – I was very excited for this purchase and I really wanted to love it. Unfortunately, I found that the screen felt way too cheap - when you press it, it feels like plastic and like it can easily break. I understand they cut down on some tech to make it more cost efficient but I would have preferred to pay a little bit more for the old screens… Read more
(whilst not forking out for a pro). My tablet also freezes a lot and does have some lag - even though I only really use it to read pdfs, write in word and browse the net.

Minor faults hold back this amazing iPad – The Apple iPad 5th Generation isn't getting any younger. It is a two year old tablet now. But Apple has announced that the device is compatible with iPadOS 13, which means you are getting a slick, up-to-date software experience and a fresh UI. The performance is genuinely amazing, despite having only two gigabytes of RAM. The device will handle… Read more
Need For Speed, Asphalt 9, PUBG, Clash Royale and many more with ease. Safari is sufficient, but I recommend downloading Google Chrome. It is a pretty good value proposition, especially when bought lightly used. But the camera is borderline garbage and the charging port breaks easily. The durability is poor as well. Buying a case and being gentle with the iPad 5th generation is the optimal way to keep the device running well for a long time- just don't think you're getting a Huawei P30-level camera, and you will be as satisfied as I am with the device.
Great Value at the Right Price – I had to replace my son's iPad as his previous Apple ipad had a problem with his battery after 6 years.I think this is a great size tablet for school kids needs. Since I have been using Apple products for a very long time so I know they are well made, reliable and last a very long time. As a plus I am much more comfortable with Apple software and… Read more
IOS compared to non-Apple products. This iPad feels like a very solid tablet that can be held easily for hours without it getting uncomfortable. Great quality camera. I always use decent iPad case/cover and screen protector for more protection.
Value for money – I bought the basic 32 gig iPad, as a backup. In my opinion it’s great value for money. Does exactly what it claims. It’s my 5th iPad. This like the others has never had a technical problem, I no longer buy the care package. It does not have a top of the range screen presence, but I find it suits me. Show details
Perfect tablet – I use it usually for watching Netflix and YouTube it is perfect for this. This size is perfect to take into my uni lectures and write notes up fast via pages as well and fast enough to done my lectures with. I've been able to use Email & surf the net without sitting at my computer. I have had no technical issues with the iPad & would recommend them to any person. Show details

Love my iPad, couldn’t live without – I mostly use my iPad for travelling and long haul drives/ flights. I watch movies and play games on it while I wait for time to pass and it’s great. It’s also great because i have the cellular version and it is hooked up to my iPhone so I receive calls and texts to both. There was a time when I left my iPhone at my parents house (an hour away) and… Read more
had to use my iPad for a whole day until I got it back. This was awesome because I could still be in touch with texts and calls. It works very well and it very quick. Love it.
All good, battery life should be improved – All good from apple, reliable sturdy tablet, no complaints so far, but battery life could be improved. Covers are way out of touch and expensive, just use the gecko covers of iPad Air 1st generations, all iPad air are same size Show details
My everything – Great for all my mail and calendar acts as my personal diary Use for webinars and communication on the go..able to research when away from iMac desktop so all connected and to iPhone Asset to my online business easy to carry fits nicely in my tote or backpack. Practical and functional – Great and easy to use this device makes navigating easy. The keypad is great and the ability to move between different keypads is a breeze. The home button is well located and charging is simple and quick. Apple’s updates however’ are not always helpful and in some cases some functions can be harder to use than before. Overall I am very happy with my iPad. Show details
works awesome – i have been using apple for yeas and i will keep using apple down side is the battery doesn't last as long as i thought it would. I used my old ipad and it was lot better with battery and lasted a lot longer then then the new ipad. Worth it quality wise yes not at the price though. Show details
Amazing tablet – I love this iPad simply because I can do anything on it when I want to. The battery life is amazing and it charges fairly well. I use my iPad for day-to-day use. You can watch movies and videos, take photos. Depending on what type of storage you get, it always works well because you can also get additional storage for just a few bucks. Great product. Great Product with ease of Use – I got this Ipad through a Optus Plan for my ten year old. I was an android user until then but have learnt a lot of Apple products using this iPad. It has not given us any trouble and have always worked as expected. All apps work as expected and the backing up facility is excellent. Given that kids mess with setting I was able to get it restored… Read more
to the required configurations very easily.. My only regret is not buying the one with 128Gb storage instead of the 32Gb one that I got..

Very good – It works well I would like more memory but it works well and has not had many issues. It’s very stable does not lock up often. Has plenty of support you can take it to the apple store if you have any issues. They are normally very helpful. Well built Show details
Plenty of space, lightweight – Good, lightweight tablet for all your personal needs. I find that I have more than enough space on it for all the apps, music and photos I may want on it. The screen is clear and crisp. The camera could be a bit better, but does get some good images. Great for hanging on the sofa or in bed with some Netflix! Show details
Perfect iPad – This iPad is the best! Every time I use it, pigs so fast! In fact, I'm writing this review on it now! Love it for use of Facebook, Instagram and all those social networks. I would recommend buying this iPad because it is great use for all your needs. Great work Apple! Show details
Great value – These iPads can be purchased refurbished for around 370 on ebay, so you can get a good machine for a decent price. The software will be up to date for a couple more years still. They're not laggy at all and still look really nice and modern. Would definitely recommend this instead of a new iPad unless you really want the apple pen. Show details
Been using for years still great – These days I mostly just use the iPad for when I travel. Its been to every state and to many countries too. I can do all mt emails, hotel booking, banking and entertainment on it. The screen still looks great compared to others I see. Battery is good but not quite as strong as when it was new. I really like it Show details
Perfectly fits my purpose – Even though I thought a lot about getting an iPad with WiFi only, it has completely taken away all my doubts. This is much cheaper than cellular and fits all my browsing needs. Easy to carry. But I miss a quality camera, still it gives a good performance for what you pay. Show details
Cant fault Apple again – Love this device. It complements my IPhone beautifully and integrates and streams everything between both devices. Its been a great tool to travel and work with and the price point is great. Its a simple gadget which I can't live without in my everyday life. It has a great battery life and lasts easily all day for me. It takes amazing photos and facetime is a breeze with such a portable device. Would definitely recommend. Show details
Nice and light though the wifi has stopped working – I like the feel of the apple iPad. While I have an iPhone 6s PLUS and barely use my iPad .The wifi has stoped working and is not good so I am in the process of fixing that with apple store let's see if they fix it for me or provide a new one. Great item – The apple iPad is a great tool to work and travel with a beautiful family that has been a great tool to help you with the work times and the great day of the year and the best travel experience and a beautiful day technology and a wonderful work time in a family of family and a family of technology. It works well for me, though feels less "sturdy" that my previous Ipad models – I always choose Apple products as I find their interface nice, clean and easy to use. This was the case for this Ipad and some of the positives of this model. I have had a few freezing issues, but no more really than my other ipad. I think it's more to do with me using it a lot and having a lot open as opposed to this model. It does feel less sturdy than my previous models and seems to damage more easy though. Show details
Fantastic price and great quality – Love the price of the 5th gen iPad, if you're not worried about having the newest gadget it's defintely the est deal. iPads are always simple to use, have long battery life that always last all day and they last for years. Will definitely buy again in several years when I need to. Show details
Take it with me when i travel – Got the 128 Gig model, and still want more space to save movies and music for when i travel, good on a plane with headphones. I also got the pencil but it doesnt make me any better at drawing then i was before. Unless you have a need for the pencil dont bother. Show details
Minimalist – I love this product! The design is sexy and very easy to use. I’m so happy I purchased it Show details
