Been an iphone user for 10+ years and this was my first Mac (coming from windows laptops). Writing this review in feb 2025 and had the machine since 2021. Its still very snappy and the battery life is excellent. Hardware, its still beautiful and everything works, the screen is bright and sharp, the speakers better than any Windows laptop I have… Read more

used. Software, Mac OS took a little getting used to, but I still like windows explorer better than Finder, but apart from that, the software experience is excellent and its nice that "everything just works" and how well it integrates with an iphone. Won't go back to windows, next laptop will be another Mac, but dont feel the need to upgrade for years to come

Great Laptop – - Easy when you have the whole apple ecosystem - Light and great size - Key Board is great - Bought it about 3 years ago and when it goes too full screen on chrome etc, the trackpad/mouse function does not work. (Likely a one off problem with just mine) Show details

MacBook Pro 13-inch M1 (2020) - Still Going Strong in 2024 – I purchased this MacBook Pro in late 2020 when it was first released with Apple's revolutionary M1 chip. Now in 2024, after over 4 years of regular daily use, I'm still impressed with how well it's holding up. The performance remains incredibly fast and snappy. Opening apps and switching between tasks feels just as quick and responsive as the day… Read more

I took it out of the box. Heavy workloads like photo and video editing are still a breeze. I've noticed no signs of slowing down over time.

The battery life is also phenomenal. Even with daily heavy use, I still routinely get 10+ hours on a single charge. This is a huge improvement over previous MacBooks I've owned. It feels like the battery capacity has barely degraded at all.

As you'd expect from an Apple product, the build quality is excellent with an all premium material design. The Retina display still looks gorgeous with vibrant colours and deep blacks.

The only drawback is that the display does look a bit outdated now, compared to the new notch design in MacBooks. But, when connected to an external monitor when at home, it is all disregarded.

With macOS Sonoma and future updates confirmed to work on M1 machines, this MacBook still feels like it has plenty of life left in it. Unless something goes seriously wrong, I can't see myself needing an upgrade for several more years. For the price I paid, it has easily exceeded my expectations. If you're in the market for a new Laptop, I wholeheartedly a MacBook.

Disappointing and I regret the purchase – Apple is not keeping with the times. The USB-C charging port breaks, the charging cords are low quality and fray where they bend over time, the battery runs at 80% capacity, the display screen has flares at the corners because of a defective screen, the screen itself is difficult to clean properly and the features are outshone by the Microsoft… Read more

Surface Pro's touch screen.

Usually, I get 9 years out of a MacBook but this one looks like it won't last much more than 3 years.

The State in 2023! – The MacBook Pro with M1, released back in 2020, is still a fantastic laptop that holds its own against newer models like the 2022 MacBook Air and the 2023 MacBook Pro with M2 Pro and M2 Max. While these newer models have certainly brought some upgrades, the MacBook Pro with M1 still has some tricks up its sleeve. First off, let's talk about… Read more

performance. The M1 chip, Apple's in-house silicon, was a game-changer when it was first released, and it still holds up well against newer models. With a fan, the MacBook Pro with M1 is able to handle demanding tasks with ease, making it a better choice than the 2022 MacBook Air for those who need a laptop that can handle some heavy lifting.

Another plus for the MacBook Pro with M1 is its long battery life. With up to 16 hours of endurance, you won't have to worry about running out of juice in the middle of an important project. That's more than enough time to binge-watch an entire season of your favorite show, work on a presentation, or even write a novel (if you're feeling ambitious).

But let's not forget about the touchbar - a feature that's both loved and hated by users. While some people find it to be a convenient way to access frequently used tools and shortcuts, others find it to be an unnecessary distraction. Regardless of where you stand on the touchbar, it's a unique feature that sets the MacBook Pro with M1 apart from other laptops.

Now, let's talk about the drawbacks. One of the biggest complaints about the MacBook Pro with M1 is its design, which hasn't changed much since its release. Some users would love to see a new and improved design, but Apple has yet to give in to those demands. Another downside is the price, which is still relatively high compared to other laptops on the market.

In conclusion, the MacBook Pro with M1 is still a fantastic laptop that holds up well against newer models like the 2022 MacBook Air and the 2023 MacBook Pro with M2 Pro and M2 Max. With its performance and battery life, it's an excellent choice for those who need a powerful and reliable machine. And let's be real, who wouldn't want to have a touch bar to show off to their friends? Just remember, with great power comes great responsibility (and a great price tag).

Bad services, bad technicians – I bot two macbook pro and it was fixed by apple. I paid around $800 AUD to fix it and I took my laptop again because it was not working properly, Apple at Chermside fixed the issue and replace some part again and spent about $800 Aud but the issue was still there. Finally it broke again and this time they didn't fix it and they claimed that coffee… Read more

damaged the board . It was all lies, they tried so hard not to fix my laptop and since then it is sitting at home doing nothing. Even the managers at Apple was so rude, I told him I am upset about his services and I will break my laptop and never come back and his stupid response was, it is your laptop and you can do whatever you want in a very calm way. You store and services are very bad and I would give 0 star to you. I had more than one conisednets with your store and this is why I have decided to put my review about your bad services. yea bad service. I can't believe that I paid $ 2600 for my mac pro anALl my family now are shifting to a different products, congrats Chermside Apple store for your bad services.

Retina screen breaks easily – Don't get me wrong, I love my MacBook, the OS and the aluminium shell. However the retina display screen couldn't be more fragile. If anything put any pressure on the screen, it will inevitably crack it. The screen is so fragile that its weight is enough to damage it, if anything left on the top of the keyboard. The cost of repair is $850… Read more

for the part and $200 for the labor. Apple Care cost $299 and charges $149 for each repair.

Apple makes fragile screen, and put the burden on the consumer to pay for the repair, despite the faulty design.

What should happen happened, Apple is now facing a class action by Bursor & Fisher, for consumers ripped off by Apple to pay for the repair of their screen.

The M1 Chip Changes Everything! – This generation of MacBook Pro follows in the classic design of it's predecessors originally released in 2016, with the notable move away from the butterfly keyboard, cementing its build quality and reliability as top notch. This MacBook features classic features that Apple users have come to love including the Touch Bar, Touch ID. Featuring an… Read more

ultra light, thin and minimalist design it has to be the best looking notebook out there. The real game changer here is on the inside, the new M1 chip simply changes the laptop game, providing significantly better performance compared to previous MacBook iterations. I'm able to do many of the things my previous high powered Windows laptop could achieve. Additionally, the efficiency the new M1 chip brings results in probably the best battery life in any laptop, I can go easily a few days with one charge and Apple lists around 20 hours of use, leaps and bounds better then previous MacBook generations. The camera quality on this M1 MacBook is notably better quality compared to previous generations although could still see some improvements. The only real disappointment with this laptop is it is configurable with a maximum of 16GB of memory unless you upgrade to the 14 inch model, and only features 2 USB-C ports which are on the same side which limits flexibility with your cables. Overall, if you need a laptop with great battery life and solid performance for any daily task, this is the laptop for you!

Perfect size and great for work – Amazing product. Easy to navigate. Beautiful graphics. Perfect size and not too bulky. Lightweight and compact. What i would have preferred was a touch screen option though. And it's fun

MacBook Pro 13" M1 Review – It has been two years since the M1 MacBook Pro arrived. But it is still one of the most popular notebooks to be used. My experience with this notebook has been more than enough for my intended use. The battery lasts for an entire day on a full charge. One of the key things to note is the performance. The performance is snappy and opens quickly,… Read more

but sometimes it can choke on running more than four heavy apps, like Adobe apps or extensive Final Cut Pro editing. It is perfect for school, education, or business use (for emailing and using Pages or Word). A physical issue on the notebook is the touch bar. It doesn't feel as good in person as it does on videos. The display is not very clear, and it is squared in the corners, instead of having a neat whole screen curve, having a little border on the right and left side. The front facing camera isn't that good, it is good for meetings, but not for recording. AU$1899 for this is very reasonable for everything it comes with (premium design, metal enclosure and a high-resolution display) Hopefully, you have found this information useful.

Easy to use, but expensive – I find this laptop easy to use, but it is rather expensive for what it is. Especially if you need to replace anything (like the power cable) - and can only get the Apple branded one which costs an arm and a leg. Show details

Apple MacBooks - Reliability review – I have been using Apple MacBooks for 15 years. I use all my laptops mostly at home, and rarely transport them for fear of bumps. My 2008 Unibody MacBook was owned for 3 years from new with no issues. My 2010 MacBook Pro was purchased used, and died after 1 year. As I can't say how the MacBook was used by the previous owner, I let it go at a big… Read more

cost to me, without engaging Apple for solutions.

My 2012 MacBook Pro was purchased new. The charger started splitting in 2014 and it was replaced by Apple. This same thing happened again in 2017 and I paid $170. The hard drive died in 2019 and I paid $400 to replace. The charger started splitting again in 2022.

Apple know the charging cable will disintegrate and split, but they haven't changed the design or materials in 10 years, because guess what!? They LOVE your money!

Absolutely horrible service – From the order process onwards this has been an absolute disaster. You pay $2200 for a laptop so you expect to get some decent service. But don't expect anything. Just like the way they make their iPhones slower on purpose to get you to buy a new one they only care about the initial dollar transaction. Afterwards it's your problem. It took a… Read more

month for this to be delivered. After two weeks it said it would arrive but for the next two weeks I was being messed around from TNT to Apple back to TNT.

Honestly, if you have a choice just go for something else. Apple is not what it used to be anymore.

Weird to say, but M1 Macbook's are value kings – I spent a lot of time researching the M1 Macbook Pro at release, after a few weeks purchased one and I have absolutely no regrets. With the M1, they pack a ton of performance into a laptop with such great battery life, and colour-accurate display. Really punches above its weight. If you don't need the extra ram/ssd space the cheaper M1 Air is the… Read more

best option for you.

Honestly - try one in a store, look at some YouTube video's etc.. The use case for this device is insanely broad, from uni student to hobby music/video editing and some basic professional media work.

The M1 Macbook Pro has enough performance/battery that it will make portable the jobs you once could only do on a desktop.

The best Intel Macbook Pro – I got this around the announcement of M1 Macs (which I also own) but I really needed an Intel version due to software compatibility. This has the updated Magic Keyboard and performance is good (for an Intel) too. It is still my main personal computer and I love it but it's NOT perfect. I’ll be upgrading on the new 2021 – This recent purchase was meant to have us up our productivity and make me have that new MacBook feeling where things are way faster and have less issues. Expensive and then the battery fails after Apple Care runs out – I bought the 13" macbook pro (with touch bar) and Apple Care in 2017 for $3,000. Its been a good computer (other than having to have it replace soon after purchase for a display problem). But now 3 years in - with Apple Care expired - the battery has failed - I can only run it with power connected - and it will cost $600 to fix. I just can't… Read more

Awesome, but not WOW – Very exciting to use toolbar and photo editing features. After upgrading from a Mac Air- I was slightly disappointed, this product did not make a major difference to my overall productivity. In saying that- the Touch ID is extremely handy!
