Steer clear – Had quite a few problems with imbalancing and was difficult to level, even with a spirit level. Dont recommend to use drawers to sit it on to make it a better height as too hard to get to sit right and it wants to 'go for a walk'. Noisy too. Died after 11 years of noisy service. Wont be buying another Ariston. Show details

Never buy this machine – I could not possibly hate this washer/drier more than I already do. Somehow I can't make a rapid cycle work despite downloading and reading the manual cover to cover, sending the machine for repairs etc. So a load is taking 2 hours to wash. Never ever use this machine to dry, it leaves your clothes more crinkled than I've ever seen clothes before,… Read more

it burned my new white sheets, and yet somehow they were still wet in places. There is no lint trap, so clothes always come out with pieces of wet gunky fluff over them that dries on hard. The washing never comes out smelling fresh regardless of what detergent you use, and if you dare use the drier it smells even worse. It's noisy and shakes around a lot too.

Dryer part has disgusting odour – I'm in an apartment while my husband is in hospital. I had to find the user manual on line. Just type in the Brand and the model number. We have lots of little loads which took only 30 to 45 minutes to do and there is no problem with the washing part of it. I try to dry our clothes on a clothes horse but sometimes need to finish them off in the… Read more

machine the next day but they come out with a disgusting smell to them. May be some stagnant water sitting in the bowl from the previous wash, I don't know. Also the machine let some water in just on starting the dryer. Didn't like that either. Thought I'd give it another crack a couple of days later, yuk, still the same, smelly and unhygienic, not something I could live with. Next time I decided to leave the air conditioner running with the fan on high to dry off our clothes while I went to visit my husband, that worked a treat and no more disgusting smells and re-washing.

This would put me off buying this combo.

It's alright – it's alright takes a lot longer to wash and a really long time to dry definitely not worth $1500 that it's 'worth' brand new. I bought mine from harvey norman clearance centre and only $630 I am happy with what I got for the price but it was very difficult to find a manual to download then we worked out it had a pull out user guide in the detergent tray that was helpful. I think it will be a good machine as long as we follow the instructions.  Show reply

Hopeless – I am staying at an apartment for my holidays and the machine is a Ariston ARL125it is hopeless, no proper instructions so I rang reception, they were just as clueless. .Couldn't get the stupid thing to dry the clothes dry!I was thinking about getting a front loading washer ,thankyou I never want one if they are all this hard to work!I will not… Read more

I've had this machine for 4-5 years and it works like a charm. It is hardly the fault of the machine if there is no manual.

Terrible – The sales person recommended this machine, because this was the best! I want to beat this guy with a stick! Sorry my poor English - I'm from Norway. Expensive. Poor build quality. Always needing repair. The drying function is a joke. Our machine stopped after about a year. Got new one - also problems.

Terrible – First one purchased from Domayne with five year extended warranty lasted two years before drum bearings failed and damaged drum. Unit was replaced outright. Second unit made it to four years before bearings and pump went. Its drying function had previously deteriorated to the point of failure in less than two years. For a machine costing… Read more

close to $2000 this is abysmal. Replaced with a Bosch based on reviews and Choice recommendations and it is the best thing we ever did.

I would actively discourage the purchase of Ariston laundry appliances among friends and readers and wish someone had spared my family this expensive mistake. Theoretically ideal for small house with limited / no outdoor drying space. In practice, drying function was limited in ability and failed quickly Reliability, longevity

Nightmare drying function – Forget this model - you'll regret buying it. Dryer function is extremely poorly designed: not only difficult to work out, interminablly long, and minimally effective, it also can't easily be switched off: you can't get your clothes out until it's completely finished! This is both irritating if you are in a hurry, and expensive if you accidentally… Read more

put in something delicate that can't survive tumble drying. I couldn't find an instruction manual in English.

Steer clear! The dials are easy - ariston makes another model WITHOUT the dryer function that is really quite good dryer function is a nightmare

Best machine ever – I have had this machine for 13 years without a single problem. Until this week when I need a new inlet valve and timing device. The parts will cost more than what the machine is now worth, so I have to buy a new machine. The dryer does take a while, but that is the nature of the dryer type. At least it doesn't steam the room up. The short… Read more

cycles are good if the clothes aren't too dirty, as is the short delicates cycle.

The customer service centre is helpful and able to offer technical and basic advice. Reliable, quiet

Terrible – PLEASE don't bother with this machine! If I had known what I know now I would of walked straight past this machine. Should of stuck with an LG like I had before, only reason I swapped was to get the 2 in 1 combo. Would love to throw this machine right back at Harvey Norman. I liked the idea of the 2 in 1 and no condensation when drying Well mine… Read more

has just blown up and we have only had it for 14 months. Sounded like a plane taking off in our laundry and now all my clothes are sopping wet. Also the people we have been refered to for the warranty are USELESS and we have been waiting for the spare part for a fortnight :(

Terrible – Why are Ariston allowed to sell a dud like this. A repairer said they had bad bearings before I bought mine and I assumed they would of fixed this problem. Later I a repairer showed me the bearings that are too small to be reliable. Lots of features. 1200 rpm spin, wool ass. approved wash. quiet when new. 2.5 yrs and main bearings are worn out and… Read more

making a horrible noise on spin. The bearings are 1/2 the size of competitors and are a common problem. Not worth repairing due to the design of the washer and for $1000 repair bill LG is by far more reliable according to "Choice".

Terrible – I thought I must have got a lemon, but after reading other reviews i'm convinced that Ariston are just a terrible brand. I'm now seeking a full refund through Harvey Norman. quiet, easy to use It breaks down every couple of months! I've had the machine for two years and the problems started less than 12 months after purchase. Ariston are quick to… Read more

send a repair man, however the first visit is just an assessment, then you have to wait for a report to be written and repairs approved before they return to actually fix it. Mean while, 4 weeks have passed where you haven't been able to use your washing machine.

Terrible – I had no choice as this was purchased on my behalf, If I had of known, there is no way I would have wasted my money It looks good, The washing, although it take a long time does in fact clean the clothes. The dryer is the worst thing I've ever seen. My washing came out soaking, boiling hot and that was after 3 hours.

Good – The machine hasn't caused us any problems at all, except for one flooding incident when a coin was stuck in the outlet pipe (our fault! ... empty pockets before washing). It's been completely reliable, very quiet. I'm sort of in love with it really so long as I don't think about the drying cycle. My four stars are for the excellent wash features… Read more

and its reliability; and the star I withhold is because I can't give full marks to something which has a drying function that doesn't work very well. Love the wash cycle choices. Mostly I use the quick one, as no more small kids and playing in mud puddles! Also use the delicates and in winter the woolwash - and the machine looks after these delicate items very well. It's great to have the temperature choices. The wash functions have been really really good, and I love the dials and the control they provide. The drying. Uh-oh. Bought it for the dual function, but the drying doesn't work well, and I feel have wasted the extra it cost for this additional operation. Also, I read that washer-dryer combos use water during the drying cycle as they dry via a condensation process. This is not good for a household on rainwater as our only water supply, so I haven't used the drying at all for three years (and wasn't tempted, since it does it so badly anyway).

Excellent – Excellent cloth wash. Very good dryer if I used correctly. No problem after almost 2 years of heavy use. Please use after read the instruction manual. Excellent cloth wash. Very good dryer if I used correctly.

OK – The machine is okay for washing, but forget drying. Also the capacity is not large and if you over filling the machine it does not wash the clothes evenily. The biggest NO for me was the lack of a lint filter. The machine is quite and has a large selection of cycles to chose from. It is gently on clothes and washes well. The seal in the door… Read more

traps all the grit, dirt etc and it is horrible to clean. The dry cycle is more like a steam cycle, and it takes forever to actually dry clotes. Also the lint filter is inbuilt and not particularly efficent.

Terrible – junk junk junk junk if you want to see a machine literally self destruct buy one, the one good thing they replace the whole machine if you want a scrap yard full of aristons dryer on all the time, we bought a washer dryer combo from a friend the dryer was 4 years old still working perfect the washer was still in its shipping crate they had… Read more

problems with the first one so we bought them 11 months went by and it shook itself to death so ariston gave use another one and left the old one 9 months later it done the same thing now we have 2 washers in our basement. the cement on the top ripped the bolts from the drum its still under warranty i think but then we will have 3 junk washers in our basement.

Terrible – Overpriced, poorly designed, flimsily made junk. My last machine died after ten years and this was recommended by the sales person at the local white goods store. My daughters both have much less expensive machines that are solid, reliable, easy to use and cost far less. Guess what I am going to exchange this annoying piece of junk for? AEG I… Read more

think or a locally made brand.

It is temperamental, you can't interrupt its cycle easily, on spin cycle it vibrates and shakes all over the floor even when properly installed and absolutely level. It takes far longer to complete a cycle than any machine I have known and as a dryer it is one step from useless. Twice as long to dry as a stand alone dryer. It was an expensive machine but is outperformed by machines a quarter of its price. Mine has been changed twice, each machine does the same. The company that supplied it is going to exchange it for a more practical machine at no cost, refunding the difference if I select a less expensive one. To top it off, it is one of the few machines that does not attract a local government "green" rebate as it is not considered to be an energy efficient model.
