LOVE IT!This combo machine is amazing! I purchased this machine as I didn’t have the space for the side by side version. I actually love that the dryer is on top as getting clothes out and putting on hangers and onto a rack is much easier. This combo is simple to operate, with many options and able to do large loads ie. sleeping bags, doonas. Show details

Ideal Camping CompanionWe looked at these ages ago but thought nope a bucket will do. A friend of ours just bought one and said its the best thing they ever bought for camping. So here we are...

als its solid and sturdy and its soooo easy to use!! If im being completely honest though, it will be interesting to see how it is a year from now. We literally just un-boxed it and 5 mins later using it. I took videos to share BUT had to really cut one down showing it working but couldnt include the spin cycle..which is a shame!!! Another one is of the clothes on the line after to show how much moisture extracted from the spin. Use: Camping We regularly 2-3 times per year camp on the beach for at least 1 week to 4 weeks at a stretch. This machine for us is a time saver, as we usually have to wait for laundry build-up and then drive 30+ ks on the beach, through Noosaville traffic only to sit at a laundromat...$10 per load, to the drive back hang ect. Now we can do it in camp, we have enough water and power to run it, so we can't wait next week to use it! Instructions: We found them to very easy and uncomplicated. Owners manual has diagrams as well as written ones with installation, power requirements, advice and tips down to a washing guide for the different clothing types and corresponding recommended cycle to set for them. For our first load, we washed 4 heavier types of clothing with light soiling to see how it went and we are very happy. The spin cycle is very smooth and there's no soggy clothes as you can spin it out as many times as you need! We hooked it up to the normal garden hose at home, and it worked perfectly or you can bucket water in if that's all you have. We have a camp trailer so we can hook it up to using the shower fittings we already have. #winning It tells you everything from the water level, lint cleaning to what sort of detergent to use. READ the instructions... honestly they couldn't have made it any simpler to follow! ITS A KEEPER...thanks Black Friday Sales :) Con: I don't think this is for us, but for heavey items like jeans and beach towels 1 or 2 items per load as it's not built for really heavey loads. ☆☆This is not for normal everyday family use, as in its enough to get you out of trouble or like for camping. IT DOES WHAT IT IS INTENDED USE IS FOR, it may just take a little longer.LG WVC9-1410W

BURNING SMELL FROM WASHER /DRYER COMBOThe combo has a burning smell during the drying cycle. Read morehot it burnt my hand. My clothes have been damaged, shrunk and have even contained burn marks.
LG will take no responsibility for the issue. I tried to have mediation with them on the subject, but they sent out a technician to inspect for 25 minutes - did a check and said that he found nothing.
A dry cycle takes 2-3 hours, of course nothing was found, he was not here long enough to let it run the full cycle, in order to make that claim.
The burning smell is transferred into the clothing and the smell is quite unbearable. The laundry room needs to be ventilated, and doors opened so the smell can be removed. Half of my house smells of burning when i use it. It is now too unsafe to use, after clothing has contained burns, i will not use it. The unit is now useless as dryer, and ive lost the function completely for my safety.
I wish LG would take responsibility and refund the unit. NEVER USING LG AGAIN! DISGUSTING CUSTOMER SERVICE!

WWT-1710BTerrible - huge regretsPurchased this year, it leaves water at the bottom of the machine and the dryer twists clothes so badly you can hardly untangle them. Sheets and quilts don’t spin properly and they are soaking wet upon finished cycle even when the spin is put to maximum. The app is completely useless. It’s a horrible machine I regret spending so much money on it. Show details

Defective out of the box - atrocious customer supportWasher dryer was purchased in December 2022, but showed extreme vibrations and walking from very first wash. This was so severe that it would begin colliding with the laundry wall and require repositioning after every second ... Read moreor third use. Multiple attempts at leveling did not fix the issue. I opened a case with LG, whose customer support has done virtually nothing but waste my time - they will string you along under the pretense of helping you but then turn around and essentially flip the bird. Summary below
1. Case opened with LG in March 2023. Technician sent to my house who confirmed leveling was good and he replaced the shock absorbers. He suggested that if the problem persisted, the machine may need to be taken to the workshop for a major service.
2. Walking persisted. Contacted LG again, who requested me to film the machine walking.
3. First videos sent showing movement. Evidence rejected by LG because the load looks big and I must therefore be overloading the machine.
4. Second videos sent showing very excessive movement during a washer dryer cycle of one set of bedsheets. To confirm I wasn't overloading the machine, I sent a video showing me weighing the load at 3.1kg. Evidence rejected by LG on the grounds that a set of bedsheets contains too many large items for the machine, causing unbalancing.
5. Third videos sent showing a load without any large items using a cotton cycle (which has 9kg limit). Load weighed at 5.9kg. Machine moving and colliding with laundry wall. Evidence rejected by LG on the grounds that my laundry tiles look too slippery. They suggested I place anti-slip pads under the feet.
6. Anti-slip pads placed. This reduced the walking for about three weeks, but the machine has not come off the pads and the problem has begun again. Despite 8 months of ongoing contact with LG customer support, I am stuck with a machine that was broken out of the box, continues to collide with the wall, and needs to be constantly repositioned.
DO NOT BUY FROM LG, irrespective of product. If you have any issues that arise even within the warranty period, they WILL NOT HELP YOU. They will blame everything on user error.

VerifiedWife didn't want it but now she loves itWhen we were looking for a new front loader to replace our 10kg LG, the WXLC-1116B had only just been released, so there wasn’t a great deal of reviews on it apart from professional ones which, let’s face it, can be a bit ske... Read moretchy. So I looked at all the specifications, warranty, load types, wash cycles, and other features and worked out that going bigger meant that our machine would only need to do 2 or 3 loads on a Saturday instead of 5 or 6 (when you split out load types).
My next step was to get out the trusty tape measure and work out whether the new machine would fit in the old space and still have enough room for the door to swing open in a 180 degree arc without hitting anything. I was in luck! The new machine wasn't much bigger than the old one, but my wife was still apprehensive, so it was a case of “fingers crossed". LG machines tend to last a long time, so I didn't want to buy a machine that we didn't love, and then be stuck with it for 10 years. She was not sold on it being a dark colour, it didn't match our 10 year old dryer, and it was a bit bigger; and while a tape measure is indicative, it can be quite different once the item is sitting there. Big box retailers are also somewhat affronted by the statement “I don't like it, take it back”.
At the time of purchase, there were none in any stores that were close to me, out of the box and on the floor, so I could look, touch, feel, play, sniff, contemplate, phone a friend, or visualise with. That made it hard. In a sense, this was a blind faith purchase, but JB HiFi were being as accommodating as possible. I had always thought of that friendly bunch as TV, computer, camera, phone and gadget people but here we were discussing a (rather large) white good purchase over the counter in a suburban shopping centre. And, surprisingly, they did the lowest price while also doing free delivery and free removal of the old appliance (to be fair, the old appliance didn't have a zero value).
First impressions? Once the guys from JB HiFi had shimmied it in, plugged it in and connected the taps, it sort of met our spatial expectations, and it fitted through all our narrowest of doorways. Using the quick start guide was straightforward, connecting it to the home Wi-Fi and downloading the app was also a cinch.
The first loads of washing were interesting (read entertaining). My wife collected a usual basket full of clothes from around the house and loaded it into the largish mouth before pausing for a second and turning around to look at me. “There is still a LOT of space here to fill" she said. So she went and collected more laundry. It was like playing a real life game of Hungry Hippos or shovelling coal into a steam train boiler. But at the end of the first load she was sold. In 90 minutes it had done close to 2 loads of washing in its 16kg tub, which was a lightbulb moment. Washing day normally means you can't go anywhere if you'll be gone for longer than 90 minutes, but a bigger machine frees up half a day, and the timer function also means you can load up before you go to bed and start your first cycle so its ready to hang out when you wake up. It also means you can run loads of washing during off peak electricity times or when the solar panels are paying all your power bills.
I was also equally amazed. Picture me loading 12 gardening uniforms into this cavernous beast. That's 12 polos, 12 shorts, and 12 pairs of socks that are quite filthy and (let's be honest) pong. And after doing them on an intensive cycle at 60 degrees, with a little bit of help from some of those MLM laundry products, came out bright and shiny and smelling like roses. The high spin speed also means the clothes are practically dry when hung out on the line, so they're ready to bring in earlier, and crease care is superb. If you use crease care and you’re careful where you put the pegs, it reduces ironing by around 95%. Just fold the clothes while you're right there at the line, and place them neatly into your washing basket. BAM!
What I love about the app is the connectivity with all LG appliances, but in this case it tells you what the machine is doing and when a load is finished, you can download different wash cycles from the internet and save one on your machine, and you can also troubleshoot and diagnose faults with your machine too. The app gives you control over certain functions like remote starting, delayed start, setting cycles, drum cleaning, and resolving issues, but there is still a disconnect between diagnosing a fault and having a technician repair the fault. This process could be a lot easier. For example, the app could be used for uploading the purchase receipt and discovering the serial number, software and firmware details, and understanding the cause of the problem. When I emailed a screenshot of this information to LG, the details were ignored.
What we love about the machine is the single-bed-doona-sized drum, the look and feel, the build quality, the load sensing, and the wash results. What we find frustrating is the main input panel is hard to read if your laundry is compact or not well lit (compared with our previous machine). Our red flag is having to have made a warranty claim so early in its life and for such a simple manufacturing oversight (a wire that wasn't long enough). And what we found wanting was crease care is not selectable as its own cycle like it was in the past, steam refresh is either missing or too hard to find or program, the fastest spin speed is lower than our previous machine and a lot lower than, say, a Bosch, and the washer and dryer is asymmetrical. You can wash 16kg but only dry 9kg.
Giving a definitive answer on how much power and water the unit uses is quite difficult since it takes hot water from the house and also heats it's own water once under way. The load sensing feature also means the machine uses different amounts of power and water depending on the size of the load, however, the LG app gives an indication of whether the unit is using lots of power or is being miserly by means of a series of 6 lightning bolts. If using a cold wash cycle, for example, the app says 1 out of 6 lightning bolts to indicate not much power was used.
In terms of water usage, the government sticker says it uses 16L of water per load, which is equivalent to 2 toilet flushes. But when you consider that Sydney Water costs around $3.50 per 1000L, this isn't the greatest expense. This amount of water is also barely worth retaining for watering the roses, but water diversion kits are a handy addition if your land goes down hill from the laundry door.

Read moreiled clothes we only ever use the 15/20 minute wash with varied spin speeds with add on spin and drain at 1400 for towels and such. Personally, I would like one basic wash program with temperature and length of time selection, variable spin speeds, and the spin and drain option. All the other multitude of wash programs are simply superfluous and confusing, especially to the older among us and also take far too long. Two drying cycles are also completely unnecessary, and the crazy door lock at the end of drying if you don't jump up immediately the beep goes! Get rid of that please.
Also I would never program to wash and dry in one as the drying seems difficult to get right. It's fine if you wash then use 'My drying time' with a bit of experimentation. Overall I like this machine once I had worked it out, but wish it was pared right down to programs really useful.

Read mored - unfortunately this is where the satisfaction stops and the disappointment starts. I was surprised to see that the dryer indicated over three hours to dry five towels, and even more surprised to find that after those three hours the towels were no dryer than when the spin cycle ended after the wash. I gave the dryer another hour only to pull out steaming, damp towels and hang them to dry manually. At almost $3K, the price of the unit was justified only because I desperately needed the dryer function to get me out of trouble on those rainy days as I don’t have the space to hang in my small unit, to say it didn’t deliver would be an understatement. Incredibly disappointed and deeply remorseful about this purchase.
