Niggling troubles – Back element only lasts a year or two. Cost is over $AU65 to replace myself. Thermostat has now gone and cost is over $AU260 to replace myself. I won't bother, and will get another oven. Asko really did drop the ball with all their kitchen appliances, including the dishwashers and microwaves (we have one of each and not really happy them either… Read more

but that's another story). Not a patch on their older washing machines. Buyer beware. Oh, and to cap it off, the business we bought these appliances here in South Australia, can take the money, do the install, but can't do after sales service... and the technician they recommended can't be fagged getting back.

ASKO is a lemon – Bought this oven in July 2011 for $2000. By July 2018, the electronic circuitry began to fail. As it is a discontinued model, I was unable to get a replacement circuit board. I was able to use some functions, however they are now playing up. The thermostat seem to have gone, so the oven gets very hot and then locks itself. I have to turn it off… Read more

and wait for it to cool before I can open it - by which time the food is burnt. Whilst it technically still partially works, it is unusable unless you enjoy charcoal. I will replace it with a Miele.

Asko oven - do not ever purchase – I purchased two Asko ovens (OP8651) for my new kitchen approximately five years ago at a total cost of $7000.They have been nothing but trouble. I have had technicians out to fix the heating elements on both ovens in the past couple of years. A couple of weeks ago the screw fell from the back panel and has completely disappeared causing the back… Read more

panel to fall down whenever the door is opened. Tonight whilst I was cooking dinner in one of the ovens the inner glass door cracked and a piece of glass in the corner fell off. It will cost approximately $500 for a new piece of glass.

The pyrolytic cleaning function leaves the racks and rails rusty and l agree wth another reviewer that the ovens are crumb catchers.

I also made the mistake of purchasing a dishwasher which has also broken down on me.

I really thought Asko was a reputable brand. I will never again purchase another Asko product and will warn friends and family to stay away as well.

Waste of money - Not a premium product/Brand – I researched a lot of ovens and decided to try a "Premium" brand like Asko. The 1st unit was dead on arrival and that should have set the alarm bells off. We had an ok run after that apart from a few weird glitches. The heating element has now died twice in about 3 years. The Glass had to be replaced as it was not secured correctly. The fan has… Read more

also been replaced and looked a touch rusty. Cooking has been uneven and now it seems slow to heat up. Every now and then the oven locks its self (with my food in it) and you have to wait for it to cool down before it will open. The product cost a fortune and now its costing me about $500 every year to keep it running.

**I should have purchased a true premium brand like Miele **

Not worth having the cleaning function and is a crumb collector – Food cooks fine and their customer service is great but their oven and cooktop are badly designed. I wanted to upload photos to show bit the pyrolitic function puts charcoal in behind everything so white dust goes into your food continually afterwards. Also the design of the door means all the crumbs fall into a crevice below that I can't… Read more

reach!

I regret buying this oven which was my big splurge. I should've gone for a different brand otot at least a steam oven.

Also as a side note on their matching stove... the stove top is really hard to keep clean as there are no protectors around the gas outlets.

Asko washing machines, maybe. Ovens? Maybe not – Our model is probably 3 years old. So far the glass has cracked without reason and the electrics have failed, causing the child lock to activate and refuse to release during cooking (had to turn it off at the fuse box to reset it). In my case at least, Asko was responsive to repairs both times, in the second instance replacing the main circuit… Read more

board. But the child lock issue occurred again once last week.

My concern is, once the warranty ends and/or the parts become available, you're stuck with either regular expensive repairs or the need to replace it prematurely.

Good points: it's streamlined, cooks very well and its slide-out trays are robust.

However, it's not easy to use (tip: if you want anyone else to use your oven, choose dials!), and reliability is an issue. I also agree with the other reviewer that the instructions are poor.

My understanding is that Asko is better known for dishwashers and washing machines. The problem with less-popular products is there is very little consumer feedback, especially on reliability. My recommendation is to look beyond the prestige of a brand and go instead with a manufacturer known for that product - Westinghouse keeps coming up as a strong one for ovens. You can then also get statistically significant consumer feedback with models that are still on the retail market.

Asko poor after sales customer service stay away – We spent a small fortune purchasing the OP8651 touch control pyrolytic oven, T130 hot plates and CW4951 range hood. They come with poor photocopied instructions which is cheap and nasty. When you try to contact Asko Australia they never answer your email, try calling them and you are on hold for so long before speaking to customer service you give… Read more

up and never try again.

We have had issues with the outer oven door rusting as well as the surface on the hotplates. We look after these appliances fastidiously however these rust marks are very annoying for a so called premium product. Our warranty has just expired and prior to sending emails we never got a response from Asko.

I would give them a wide berth as they have no after sales care. We should have gone with our heart and bought a Miele or Bosch as we have had great history with both companies in the past.

Poor after sales care
