Unit works well. No Spare Parts available? – Initially it worked fine, then it slowed down. Upgrading memory worked well, however it becomes hot very easily. I have sent it away twice, and the both the processor, and hard drive become hot. Makes it difficult to use on your lap. Not long after the warranty expired, I had problems with the touchpad. It works ok on your lap, but not on a desk.… Read more

A few months ago, it was knocked to the floor accidentally. All was ok, except the plastic rim around the screen was badly damaged. When, I rang Asus, they said I had to send it in, as I could not purchase this as a spare part (6 screws). I had another Asus netbook that I purchased, and was away for a month. Good value for money. Well known component supplier. Only basic spare parts available. eg battery, charger.

battery life – Our K52F laptop battery has just died after 15 months of use- just out of warranty of course. I rang Asus they were very unhelpful, no way they would replace it. A new one costs $216. Maybe would be worth considering an extended warranty?? Other than that have been happy with computer. battery life

Get ready to call the tech support! – I admit up front I know very little about computers. We had a Toshiba which seemed great, but due to old age died. We have had the Asus K52F for over a year and have had to wipe it and use the recivery disks 4 times. Pay professionals to come fix it 3 times (very costly!) We have rang and emailed Asus many times and have had very little useful… Read more

support. They just give us a list of things to do that unless you are a computer whiz, would have no idea how to do it anyway. We have a friend who builds computers and even he couldn't work out what is going on with this one. May just be the dud in batch, but it is an expensive dud! user friendly keypad, desktop Poor support from company. Computer continually fails to operate properly. Shuts itself off. Won't turn on. Just a few of the problems we have encountered!
