Asus X550

By far the most faulty unreliable Notebook I have ever owned – Warning avoid them. I have I'm sad to say a ASUS X550L notebook. not at all a cheep one, intel i7 chip, 8 gig ram, all went well for just short of 22 months, when the battery failed, after replacing it at my cost the DVD burner failed I contacted ASUS help and for some strange reason I was referred to There're British help, who informed me that the computer didn't recognize its own media drive because it was Microsoft's fault so ask them to help. That was all I got from them and the media drive has never worked again, in fact now the draw doesn't even open. Then the speakers became so distorted and muffled it wasn't possible to hear a word, Then the right speaker died altogether. Now it will only hold the internet for an hour or so before dropping it and I have to reboot, all this now in just 25 months. I'm lucky I have a desktop computer (not an ASUS) to fall back on. The absolute last ASUS product I will ever purchase.I am only giving it one star because that's as low as this site will allow
Beware this model: not as advertised and not able to smoothly do basis tasks. Build quality so so – Contrary to advertising by MSY, this does NOT/NOT have bluetooth. Two USB ports are not enough and the processor (Core i5 3337U) is under powered leading to the word processor, firefox and general data entry hanging or freezing - sometimes for up to 10 seconds. Win 8 is a bit misleading. It is the home version - again, not made clear in the advertising. And finally, the space bar fails to work - about 30% of the time. Apparently, this is a known problem with ASUS laptops. MSI and Toshiba make better machines for about the same price. I have owned a lot of other ASUS gear and have been happy with it. This is the first dud. Nothing. The dodgy space bar makes me want to toss it out the window. But I think I will give it to my ex. Space bar does not work a lot of the time; did not have features as advertised. And it hangs. And hangs.
