Automedia AM-1100

A relatively good for the price – A relatively good radio if it is installed correctly and you do not expect more than it is for the price, I have had no problems with the operation and working of the unit. I like the size and the blue display
Purchased in at Repco for $50.
Cheap & nasty car radio – Bought this radio as an inbetween when the stock Clarion in my 2002 Subaru started fading. Should have saved the $40 as the radio quality from my mobile with the earphones used as the aerial produced better radio quality. The manufacturer should have put in a better quality front end tuner. The blue lighting around the volume control is too bright at night and is a distraction and irrational whilst driving.
Installation is straight forward and the unit is very light as it is only half the depth of a normal radio, the missing half should have had a better tuner!. The instruction are very basic but enough to understand the operation. Tone control is by 4 pre-set equaliser, Normal, Classic, Rock & Flat.
Too embarrassed to take it back. Just chuck it in the bin! Sound quality from the SD card wasnt too bad AM reception non-exitent, FM loses reception more than 10km from a local reansmitter.
Worst stereo ever – I bought 2 of these stereos, for 2 4WD's, as CD players don't go too well off road. This one seemed ideal as it accepts SD & USB MP3s, with no mechanical parts. Easy to install being half the depth of normal stereos. Now, after a week or so, both stereos keep cutting out, especially when the car is hot. At best, reception on the tuner fades out, but both units now shut off completely, and only come back on when the car is cooler. I suppose, for $40-$50, you get what you pay for. Keep your receipts cos you'll need them!!! Simple, no moving parts, cheap, easy to install Cuts out when car hot inside & shuts down completely (inadequate heat sinking)
You know that you can get an adaptor depending on the type of car you have for $10. It plugs straight into the current loom from the back of the car stereo to the car.
I bought this stereo the otherday and I found that when the sdcard or the usb gets hot, it displays properties similar to what wraith73 has mentioned. The key would be to take the usb/sdcard and put it in the glovebox when your not using it and not to leave it out when your car is parked. Otherwise the stereo works great for me. Not the loudest but still fairly good for the price.
what am I doing wrong? I wired the stereo up, the am/fm works fine, I have tried to get both a flash drive and an SD card, formated them both to FAT32 cause that's what it says to do and when I put them n it comes up with no file, what am I doing wrong?
Have to let stereo format the card as it will create folders.. then it will recognise your card..
How did you do that?
Are the blue lights supposed to stay on all the time? Just hooked mine up and seems to work alright but the blue (night) lights stay on even when the key is out of the ignition.
Cheap easy, only last less than a year – Purchased this stereo for my Subaru narrow stereo slot, worked well and nice blue light set up, a little too bright, after 9 months of owning, It keeps cutting out as the volume gets louder but next day works well again, good as a cheap set up or selling car replacement stereo Simple to use, plays well short life span

Negative to black, positive (+12) to red, then 4 speakers; how hard can it be, right? Wrong! It doesn't work! The radio was tested in store and it worked ok.(Surprise) What is wrong? I did connect the yellow wire to +12v, but no joy! What is wrong?
