Both wireless Carplay AND Android Auto – Very happy with this unit. If you are looking for an affordable unit with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, this is the one. JVC doesn't advertise it, but wireless Android Auto works if you put the app in developer mode (takes less than 30 sec). Interface looks great and is customisable, screen is good quality - no HD but it is bright and I can't see any pixels. Resistive touch screen is fine, you'd pay much more for capacative. Also a big plus, this JVC comes with built in OEM steering wheel controller so you don't have to buy an external controller (worth about 90 bucks) if you want to keep using your car's steering wheel control buttons. Negatives: the menu structure is a bit counter-intuitive and has a bit of a learning curve.

Purchased in for $490.

Cheapest way to get into Wireless Apple Carplay – I'm happy with it. For the price, cannot complain really. Screen is better than expect, but obviously not great. Touch sensitivity is good. Unit is faster than I expected. I bought this one because it was by far the cheapest option for wireless apple car play (in late 2019). Really important here, wireless apple car play didn't work properly until I updated the firmware (navigation was not working because i didn't have the speed sensor wire hooked up, the new firmware does not require it to be hooked up). Need to go to the JVC site, download the new firmware, and follow the instructions for the update. It all took less than 10 min and was really easy. After that, wireless apple carplay boots in less than 10 seconds after startup and everything works flawlessly, I'm happy with it. I have not been able to get the programmable steering wheel controls to work yet, but i probably just wired something up incorrectly? not sure. Ill reply to this f i figure it out. However, the unit has some pretty nifty touch controls, including moving your finger in a circular motion to control volume which is actually really cool, like the original ipods from way back when. For now, this is more fun than using the steering wheel controls anyways. All in all, I'd def recommend this, as most other units in this price range do not have wireless carplay, which I believe is a real game changer. Love it. Other units that have it are hundreds of dollars more.
