Ouch! If I put a drink bottle on this step through – Bought a step though second had and like it so far. When I put a Biden on, my crouch hits the carrier, not great for a male or female, I am the latter. What other carriers do you have available for this model? Show details
Quality Daily Ride – Found this V Brake era frame as a sad example in a recycle depot. ($ 65 AUD) Needed : New rear tyre, New front brakes (new pads) , new chain and a couple of new cables. :) New Shimano V brakes went on in minutes and pads similar. Tyres and tubes replaced with 35c x 700. I adore this machine now. It is comfortable, quiet and feels robust with… Read more · 1
out being heavy. Its fun and flexible to ride.
The Gearing is great. Even I could adjust it all up to smooth. 3 x 7 with Megadrive @ 1 rear. Which actually is useful.
I was dubious about the front shocks but they really do help with control and comfort.
Great bike. Well designed, easy to maintain, and inexpensive for parts.
I am 60 > 65 years old. Every body who rides it loves it.
Including kids in their 20's.
Love love love! – I got this bike second hand during covid and just love it soo much. I ride every day as it is so very comfortable. I never used to like riding at all. The upright position and seat suspension is just fantastic. I will upgrade to exact same model. Show details
Great Road bike – I somehow came across this bike in a buy back shop, I brought it home and serviced it, and it's absolutely a marvelous bike to ride, the bigger wheels and road tyres make pedaling a breeze, and I have a bi-lateral knee replacements,The shock absorbing seat is also a treat,I would highly recommend this bike if you like to ride on the road, the gear… Read more

Fussy hubby loves it – Bought to replace a much loved stolen Avanti, my hubby likes this one even more. It has a smooth ride and he claims the larger wheels make peddling a breeze. I was dubious of the grey colour but looks pretty good in person. I’m not a bike rider but the couple of times I’ve gotten on it I’ve found it really easy and nice to ride Show details
Good but watch out for toe overlap – I bought the Avanti discovery 1 which is marketed as an 'off road adventure bike'. It is quite a hefty bike with a solid frame and big thick wheels (700 x 45c) which gives my legs a good workout when I ride it. The big thick wheels mean that it is quite easy to ride at walking speed (which is what I mainly go at because I use it to walk my dog)… Read more
but it also means that it takes a bit of power to get this bike going. It's good on roads, gutter and sandy tracks which is where I mainly ride. The suspension makes for a very smooth ride. The only problem I can see is that on a small woman's frame the toe overlap might be a problem as I have the medium frame and have to watch where I place my foot on the pedals and what shoes I wear so I don't get the bike hitting my toe at slower speeds whilst turning.
Fast! – A great bike, really smooth gears, goes really fast and not over $500! Amazingly, I came from a boys' mountain bike that was really heavy, and really small for me. This bike is 1.5 times the size, but it is about two thirds of the weight! Loved the acceleration, and so much easier to ride. Speed, acceleration, energy efficient, smooth gears, sleek look.
really good value – I was in the market for a classic/retro looking european-style bike with curved handles and upright riding position. I realised that by buying the Avanti Discovery 1.0 (White) for at least a couple of hundred dollars less than what I was prepared to pay, I would getting a more comfortable and better built bike. I was not after this more modern… Read more
look but all in all, it is a great ride for the price. What I also liked was the fact that the base-price (AUD 430) allows one to add extras if desired like mud-guards, bike rack etc. and still end-up paying less than the next model up. Colour (white!), suspensions, confotable handles, riding position, nice pedals, low-base price. Nothing - Top of the range Discovery 8 (internal gears and mud-guards) was priced very high compared with the base model
At Last.....I have found the perfect all round bike – I have been riding since a heart bypass for fitness and have a dual suspension mtb and a carbon fibre road bike , the Avanti Explorer blows them both away in pure riding pleasure. The gearing is smooth and the brakes good, riding position is the best I have experienced, little touches like the seat post suspension make riding a pleasure... Well done Avanti....GREAT BIKE!!! Well built, very comfortable riding position
