Axis AX-1104DAB+

Great incar media player – I wanted a decent DAB in car radio and didn't want to spend too many $$$. Fairly easy to install but with the DAB aerial connector installed it makes it slightly longer than than ISO standard. Not a problem for most but I had to bring it out proud of a correct mounting in the dash to prevent damaging the cable. The interface is not as intuitive as the big name brands but once learned it works great. Mine came with a remote and I use this as it has quick access to the features I use. The DAB works very well with the supplied aerial and it had plenty of cable on it to run it out to the bull bar on the front of my car. It doesn't have a mount though other than a magnet and I wouldn't suggest using it whilst driving. I just installed a mount and glued it to it, no problems. The playback of the digital media (CD, USB or MMC ) is great and easily coped with very large MP3 compressions as well as very tight ones. AM is only barely ok and fm reception is strong. It sounds great but could probably do with an adjustable EQ.

For a proper DAB car head unit I think it's great and a better option to the FM modulator types. CD's play fine and even on the hottest days and quite rough roads they play fine, the digital player seems to buffer the songs for about 10 seconds and this makes it a good one in my opinion. It replaced an early high end unit that had digital playback but no usb and this always suffered from mp3 playback issues if the CD wasnt recorded at a low speed and the RW disks were not in perfect condition. Front full size USB Wont display the clock in most modes. AM could be better
