Lucky craft performance without the price – I like bream fishing with hardbody lures and have tried many types. This work a treat. They are easy to walk the dog and cast well. A bloke at the tackle shop told me about them and as a consequence I will not be buying anymore Sammy 65's. It's nice to buy a cheaper bream lure that works as well as the big names. Great lure. Great value. Good colour range. None

High quality lure without the cost – I've managed to land two Berkley 3B lures from various sources and my latest the 3B 'Scum Dog' surface lure certainly does this lure brand justice! This lure 'Scum Dog' is a reincarnation of the 'Sammy' lure and is a super high quality and finish all for $14 - which is a bargain! The lure's paint finish is something that you would expect from a custom lure painter and there isnt any over-spray on the hook anchor points which is a good sign of commitment to quality. The lure's eye is another catch - hold it upto the sunlight - it does look like a fishes eye!

The split rings are very fine and finished in black and dont show any great amounts of flex that I test for. The hooks are by Owner and super sharp - so its set up and ready to fish straight from the box. The only thing that I dislike is a large '3' on the inside of the moulding that you can see as it is see through, but thats just me... From what Berkley state - the bodies are made from Polycarbonate and are tough - thats enough for Flathead, Bream and Whiting for sure, Jacks and other bitey critters may be another issue, but I doubt they'll destroy one of these - just leave a few teeth marks which is a good talking point with fishing friends.

Fishing the lure is super easy and as its a surface lure, a slight flick of the wrists during retreival get the lure into a 'walk the dog' pattern. Some surface lures dont 'walk the dog' easily and its good to buy lures that do so easily - this really shows its quality. Inside the Scum Dog is a large ball rattle (side to side - not loose) and no weight transfer system which most lures feature today - the lure casts easily and is easy to position in tight areas due to its flight stability - with most of the weight rearward positioned.

Berkley continue to make better lures, with some that I have purchased from Big W in their 'Frenzy' range costing < $10 and the quality still in that range with good quality finishes, body construction, hooks and splits and a fantastic fish ability in their movement. The 3B range are slightly different and I have seen some of the Super Mungo lures transfered over to their 3B range - but they have different paint schemes.

For the price of $14 - they are a cheaper option than buying from the higher end of the lure spectrum that cost $20 to $40 each.

Have a look at the range and give them a go! Price, Quality fittings, finish and casts really well.
