Perfect little coffee maker that produces great creama – Makes excellent coffee if you don’t have a coffee machine, and produces a beautiful creama along with a delicious coffee. I had a standard Bialetti stove top percolator that I used for years before buying a coffee machine. While my coffee machine was being serviced I wanted a better tasting coffee so researched & bought the Brikka and have been so… Read more
impressed. Make sure you do your research and read/watch how to use this beaut coffee maker to extract your perfect coffee. Use the measuring cup and use hot water; use correct grind size beans for a stovetop; don’t over or under fill the basket; don’t place on full heat, instead mid-range heat; once coffee starts appearing, reduce heat/remove from heat. It’s not complicated. Note: a 2 cup produces coffee for 1 person; 4 cup produces coffee for 2 people. I’ve tried Nespresso coffee pod machines (and other brands) and with different pods and have always been disappointed. If you want an excellent coffee without the expense of buying a coffee machine, this is your best choice.
Bialetti stands for cheap low quality poorly designed and made products – Bialetti stands for cheap low quality poorly designed and made products Expect to be disappointed Bialettis offers no customer support Bialetti products are made in Pakistan & other developing countries known issues Faulty pressure valve eventually fails . rust buildup inside water container. poorly designed handle . Great little coffee maker – I was looking for a device that would give me something like my home coffee maker (Rocket Giotto). We had tried various devices at our farm including a drip cone and French press. The French press gave a reasonable result but we wanted something better. The Bialetti Brikka fulfilled our requirements giving a great espresso. You have to be able to… Read more
adjust the flame very low to slowly infuse and extract the coffee. If you do this you’ll have a great extraction.
Stick to a few rules for consistent coffee and its a dream – Always free up both valves before use. The inner valve is spring loaded, from inside, give it a press with some cold water when washing to ensure its free as well as the Top Cap! Use the water guide inside the unit. I prefer a medium grind but expereiment and level it off but do not pack it down. Ensure the flame does NOT extrend out side the… Read more
base.
As soon as you here the pressure burst, start pouring....
Enjoy consistent (Capsule Waste Free) Coffee
Note! If you do allow the flame outside the base or leave it to boil dry then the seal on the safety valve will weaken and your pot is useless. I have NOT found anyone selling this part as a spare? Std Pots have them however they do not fit the Brikka!
Okay machine but severely lacks consistency – The Brikka makes a good cup of coffee but the backpressure valve always gets stuck causing inconsistent amounts and strength/taste for the end product you get in your cup. I’ll be buying a Moka pot first chance I get to be rid of the ridiculous back pressure valve that hardly works on the Brikka. Show details
Real coffe done the real way! – I used to have a fancy and expensive Sunbeam coffee machine and then I was given this. Little by little I couldn't be bothered using the big complex Sunbeam and then after six months I realized I hadn't used it in ages! This is much simpler, much easier to use and a far purer way to enjoy coffee - never going back. Show details
Oh I love mokka! – The best way to get greatest coffee in the world! You really don't need pricey machines to have good quality coffee. Just prder simple mokka and good coffee and you are done. This one is very simple to use and it's good quality. Bialetti is great I love all of their products. Show details
Delicious Expresso the proper way! – I love this machine - it meets my need perfectly and loading it up and getting the flame down low is the first thing I do every morning. I wait for the pkkkkkrrrrt sound as the coffee comes up and that's all there is to it. No need for anything else - this makes perfect espresso. Show details
Great investment – Makes great coffee every morning, absolutely love this purchase. This has saved us so much money from buying coffee. Only flaw is you can’t use finely ground coffee or the espresso will be weak. Otherwise I think this is a good investment for a home or camping in the bush. Show details
Took it camping – I learned the hard way last time in Queensland that a decent strong coffee can be a hard thing to find, especially off the beaten track. I bought this just for the trip and it was a total winner. I had people friendging up to me to try to get a coffee in the morning lol. Anyway it makes top notch coffee and weights next to nothing as its all aluminium. Great little device! Show details
The BEST Coffee maker! – I really love this - it make real, authentic stovetop coffee, without all the flashing lights and gauges. If I get the tamping wrong, and the coffee is bitter, I adjust it next time. The machine is as simple and classic as possible. All I have to do is occasionally replace the (cheap) little rubber gasket and that's all. Too easy! Show details
Simple Italian style coffee - the best! – I use this every day of the year. I have had more of these machines than I care to count. As soon as one dies, I go and get a new one. The lifespan seems to vary somewhat. They always need a new seal after a year or so and invariably at some point they will develop a leak and that it! Time for a new one. Whomever invented this in Italy, all those… Read more
years ago just simply got it right. I am not going to go on about delicate aromas or anything - I will just say that these make the best coffee going, once you know what you are doing. The bloke below is on the right path with tamping pressure - that is pretty much the trick to it (an of course good quality fresh beans) Forget elaborate machines - simple is best!!
better than Barista coffe – Took me a little while to perfect the making of my espresso but has been worth it. This Brikka cost me $50 two years ago and has not failed yet. There is a trick to loading it up though. On the expensive coffee machines the Tamping and subsequent pressure for extraction, comes from the top.On the Bialetti Brikka it all happens from the bottom up.… Read more
I grind my beans so the ground size is just large enough so that the individual grind does not get caught in the screen. The store bought grounds are just a bit course.
I use a Tamper that has a wooden handle and metal base and rather than pressing down on the coffee I let the weight of the Tamper do the job.
Start off with two teaspoons and a light tamp.
Secondly add one teaspoon and a light tamp.
Thirdly add another teaspoon and a light tamp
Depending on the size of the teaspoons and how heaped they are, you may get another teaspoon using the same method.
Finish off with the last teaspoon being slightly raised above the rim of the basket so that some compression takes place when the two halves are Brought together.
I use my cup to measure the amount of water to put in.
When the two sections are screwed together make sure the two surfaces are clean by using your thumb to remove spilled coffee grounds.
You will always get a good Crema using this method. The crema will be frothy and stick to the side of the cup.

My Favorite Coffee Maker – We have this, a french press and a Sunbeam espresso machine but this is by far my favorite. The Sunbeam makes OK coffee to but its a pain to clean and drag out and with the Bialetti I can just wash it up with the dishes. It makes superb honest espresso and this design is the Italian classic style. I enjoy the routine of packing the coffees and waiting for it co come up. Its my favourite Show details
The Italiam Classsic – I love stovetop Espressos. I am from Melbourne so I am supposed to be endlessly going on about crema and extraction and so on but this is the coffee I drink at home and I love it. These are kind of like chess; easy to play but hard to master. Any dufus can fill this with coffee and get a result but there is a small window where extraordinary… Read more
coffee exists and its all down to the grind and tamping pressure. If you have one of these you will occasionally stumble over the formula until you nail it.
The Bialetti is an Italian classic. Well made, well designed and make great coffee. One thing to consider. Get a stainless steel one if possible as aluminium is not good for you.
Authentic espresso so easy! – So easy to use and makes a perfect espresso. Great stove top machine, fill bottom section to fill line, pop in the coffee grounds, screw on the lid and wait approx 6 mins. The two cup doesn’t quite make 2 Aussie size cups but makes 2 authentic espresso cups. Easy to wash and dry. Looks great on the stove top too. Show details
Love it! – Bought this after I was dissatisfied with the strength of the Moka. It took about a week of trial and error before I could achieve that froth/crema. Much better taste than my sister's $400 auto coffee machine. Pros - Easy to clean, although you have to be diligent so the finish doesn't get spoiled. - Consistent flavour once you get the hang… Read more
of it. I'd rate it just sub-par of a great cafe-bought one, and better than a barista fail.
- Compact
Cons
- Stains on the inside very easily
- A bit fiddly for some, not ideal if you're in a hurry to work because you have to clean it and dry it completely after use. (Ruined my Moka leaving it immersed in the sink all day)
Makes great coffee – The Brikka makes strong coffee, much stronger than the Musa. Wish it came in stainless steel. + Easy to clean + Takes approx 2 min to make a cup + Strongest coffee to make at home unless you have a machine + Great tasting coffee everytime - Crema seems to disappear as soon as poured into a cup. For when you need 'real coffee' – I have the larger 4 cup model, which i use to make 2 strong coffees. The pot makes a very rich and robust coffee. Has a special valve that forces the coffee through as it rises which creates the crema effect. Valve makes a loud explosive noise which surprises you the first time. Bit fiddly if you want to take all apart (unscrew the valve) and wash… Read more
under each time but i only do this every few weeks. The crema effect is a nice touch but if you don't remove the pot and pour immediately this disappears quickly so no difference to normal stovetop. Depends how much you like the crema look on your coffee. I have a normal espresso stovetop pot too and taste is same from both. The first time i used it the coffee leaked from middle thread section but has since mostly stopped, happens about once every 4 times, not sure why, seems tightly screwed together. Sometimes its hard to unscrew base from the top part to wash, have learnt to wiggle and pull up the valve to release trapped air/suction which need to be released by pulling up valve. Overall, makes great coffee to kickstart the day, and makes my pod machine seems completely benign and tasteless in comparison, definitely recommend.
Magnificent little stovetop pot! – I had the first iteration of the 4 cup Brikka years ago, and it gave me some problems. The rubber seal on the top section had an oddly stepped profile, and there was another rubber seal that sat under the rim of the filter. When it worked it made a decent coffee, but that was a phase that only lasted a few months. After that all the coffee would… Read more
spew out the side and/or come blasting out the top of the valve tasting completely burnt.
Since Bialetti redesigned the Brikka in its current form so that the rubber seal is the same as the standard Bialetti moka pot, and gotten rid of the seal around the filter, it's been an absolute pleasure and delight to use. Got the new 4 cup model a few weeks ago, and it's become one of those "I'll die if I lose or break this!" treasures.
It makes sensational coffee, and I would dare argue that it does a better extraction - with a whole heap of crema! - than the little home espresso machine I've got.
It's so easy to use, and so quick (max 3min waiting time!) that after a couple of weeks it's become my preferred go-to device to make myself a cup of espresso. Cleaning is also dead easy.
I would highly highly recommend it to anyone who loves a good proper brew of coffee.
PS: with a little experimentation I have found that it likes having 160ml of water in the bottom chamber, regardless of how much coffe you put in the filter. This is the amount of water that the marker in the top chamber sits at, and it works perfectly and consistently every time with the right water.
So brilliant we couldn't stop laughing – Bought a 4 cup Brikka for my son who at 14 years is a pretty good barista (works in his mother's cafe) for use at home. Followed the instructions and 'washed' it thru 3 times (made coffee to throw away). This did the trick. Makes coffee twice as strong as the Bialetti Mocka (as per the claim. You have to pour as soon as the coffee 'hisses' to get… Read more
the crema but this is part of the fun. Am getting him a 2 cup Brikka because there is too much coffee for a morning starter. We store any excess coffee for afagato anyway. Absolutely sold on the product.
Very good product – Makes good coffee and almost a crema. Use is fiddly as I was told to remove from heat the second it bubbles through and pour out straight away and toss the rest. Easy to clean unit. Once you learn the method it makes really decent coffee and for the price good value.
Not quite crema, but genuine flavour. Best home made coffee I've had – Cost $79 delivered for the 4 cup - get the 4 cup, not the 2 cup. Better coffee than Nespresso, and you get to choose your blend. Makes better (flat white) coffee than my sisters $650 machine. So Happy ! 4 cup size makes barely enough for 2 cups of coffee i.e. makes 2 shots you can dilute with water or milk, into a small coffee cup. I fill to not… Read more
quite full (just below the inner marker) for one strong regular sized coffee. You cannot fill too high or it doesn't work. At least with so little water, it boils very quickly.
It says it makes crema just like a machine - it doesn't. What it does is make an 'almost' crema that looks a little like crema but is froth. Who cares, the coffee that comes with it is DELICIOUS ! The coffee blend (same open packet) I was using that tasted very weak and ordinary in my old espresso maker, tastes rich and full in this maker. I think the secret is a little pressure builds before the water streams thru. That and the filter basket is high not wide so better use of available coffee. Gotta love the chuf-chuf-chuf noise.
Do follow intructions and hints, it is important. Do toss your first three brews - Italian 'quality' control means lots of loose aluminium floating around. And do persist until you get it right. When you do, it looks a lot like proper machine coffee, and tastes superb. Remove from heat straight away and serve. Tip: make sure you warm your milk, do not add cold milk to hot coffee (scientifically proven taste change !). It's the secret to delicious coffee. And if you want cappuccino froth, get an Aldi frother ($30), and use Zymil full cream milk.
Enjoy !
