A Defib for Dirty Sofas 4720P – When you purchase an upholstery cleaner, you have dreams and aspirations that it will perform miracles. Deep down you dread that you've wasted your hard earned money on something that gets used once in every lifetime. So that time had come. Our good quality lounge has reached 20 years of age and is still going strong. It lived through the… Read more

kids growing up and more recently the onslaught of dog children, but has succumbed to excessive dog slobber. So these stains have been adding up over the 20 year period to a point where they have become fossilised into the fabric, or so it would seem. So I spent a week investigating different brands and decided on the Bissell Spotclean Professional (4720P). I decided against going for the higher up model as I just wanted it for sofa cleaning and I did not need the extra power for shag pile carpet.

The results from just one clean have blown me away. I really didn't expect results this good from a little machine. It has literally brought the sofa back to life and good for another 10 years. I have attached photos of the before and after which speak for themselves.

The engineering and build quality of the system is very good. The process for cleaning is pretty simple. There's an inbuilt warmer for the cleaning solution that works just fine. And the final results are plain to see when you look at the black death syrup which has been extracted and dumped into the onboard waste container.

So this system works fine on sofas and short carpet. The hose length is short, but if it was longer I believe you would lose some of the suction power. For the results that I got, I can live with a short hose.

So from me it gets 4.5 stars. Good Job Bissell.

Purchased from Harvey Norman (June 2024). $214.00

The Bissell Spot Clean – Perfect results for my car carpet and Mats were so dirty but when dry they looked brand new. My Recaros turned out perfect and like knew. Takes a lot of warm water so have some on stand-by or you be walking back inside and falling up again. The water was brown so this little beauty does the trick. Highly recommended . Show details

So far I'm happy – Purchased this because I loved my pet wave.... Today I tacked a good colour stain that I have been trying to get out of my mattress for over a year (don't ask my kids do weird things) I used the machine and I'm impressed. Yes everything Is a bit damp but that's a price I'm happy to pay... The machine does not anywhere say it suck the item… Read more

dry..it pulled water and stain out more than I expected - two tanks of water two and half emptied... But all in all I couldn't have asked for better.

A must-have for people with kids! – This is a great spot cleaner, it's compact, easy to use and does the job well. I've cleaned my carpet, dining room chairs, bar stools and car seats and every time they've come up sparkling clean. We purchased the additional Pet Odour & Stain Remover and Spot Clean Pet Formula and it works well removing stain and odours from pet messes on carpet… Read more

and other materials.

The water reservoir is a decent size so you're not constantly having to fill it, and I love how it's got markings on the plastic for a small or large area, PLUS! markings for adding the correct amount of water & formula without having to measure.

It's also easy to clean after use. I just rinse out the 2 reservoirs thoroughly and leave them to dry overnight, and the cord and hose wrap up for easy storage. Excellent and intuitive design.

My only grievances (and this is getting really picky) is that the hose isn't particularly manoeuvrable at times, and the trigger button for the spray is in a great place if you want to constantly use it, but if you just want to suck excess water out of an item it's really easy to bump it, which results in you adding solution rather than removing it.

Overall though, a fabulous item to have in the home for quick, easy clean up of spills and stains, and to keep all your plush furniture looking like new. Especially if you have kids and like white....

Awful product support – The cleaning capability was OK but not great. My complaint is that the hose degraded an leaked outside the warranty period. I have been waiting 9 months for parts to become available for purchase. I was told on several occasions that it is coming. Draw you own conclusions but I belive the product has become an expensive piece of junk and I will be better off cutting my loses buying another product from a reputable supplier. Show details

Life saving little machine for people with pets – We have two dogs and a cat and this little machine has been a life saver. We use it every few months on our (fabric) sofa to give it a clean and it comes up like new. But the real life saving moment was last night. Poor puppy had an attack of diarrhoea and couldn't get out of our bedroom because the door was closed. Runny poo all over our carpet… Read more

at 2am. The Bissell was able to get it all out completely. Perfectly clean, no remaining smell, almost completely dry. The only criticism I have is that you need to put a lot of bodyweight into it to make sure it gets deep - as the suction power and plastic head attachments aren't as powerful as the ones you see the pro's use. But honestly, best $200 investment for moments like these.

Bissell SpotClean Pro Review – Since purchasing the bissell I have revived our lounge suite, fabric bar stools and car interior. Only used half a tank which is one treatment on the lounge and worked fantastic, really great for deep stains or drink spillage from the little ones! Show details

Still waiting for value for money – Setup instructions were clear and easy to follow but overall our first try at using this product left me feeling indifferent. We have subsequently used it a few more times and results are probably just reasonable.  Show details

Preferred older model – Second time now I have had to seek repairs to the hose attachment as it breaks of at the hand attachment. Why use that plastic and wire material is beyond comprehension, Blind Teddy can see with use it cracks and will break. Thank goodness we had the 3 yr warranty or else this machine would have been ended up in the tip. Preferred the older model, better suction and cleaning. Show details

O STARS!! – I don't think I've ever used anything so useless in my 20 years as a professional cleaner. I tried to clean a mattress and the spot cleaner didn't make a difference. There are so many design flaws it's surprising the thing was ever able to make to our shelves! The fan is on the bottom so you have to carry it instead of being able to put it down… Read more

and focus on scrubbing. The cord is long which is great but the hose is so short! The suction is terrible and I'm only getting g a quarter of a tank to a full water tank! It also leaks all the time! I thought it would be easier than my usual bulky upholstery cleaner but it's really not. I can't believe how many people have given this more stars. As a professional cleaner I would NOT recommend this product. It's useless.

Perfect for what we need – Absolutely amazing. With children you can quickly spot clean any spills on the couch and well worth not having to continually pay professional cleaners when the kids go and spill a drink on it straight after being professionally cleaned. You can also suck vomit out of the couch as soon as it happens with the cup attachment which allows the… Read more

vomit/food what ever it may be to be sucked into the cup/bowl rather than into the machine stopping it from becoming smelly. Well worth the money easy to use. Have to be careful with Bissell cleaning solutions as they foam and do not work as efficiently.

Complete garbage, do not waste your money! – I don't think i've ever been disappointed in any product as much at this. Did not clean the stains on my rug and did not remove any water (full tank in virtually nothing out). Yes i followed the instructions. A complete waste of $249. I've had better results with a $5 vanish spray and some paper towels. Show details

My new best friend in cleaning – This little guy cleans like a dream. I have dogs who dribble and often chew their snacks on the mats and lounges which have left a number of stains about the place. This removed them with ease from both the rugs and the lounge. The system is very easy to use, and things dry within a hour or two generally. I like the fact the water and solution is… Read more

controlled by a trigger, so you can use as much or as little as needed - and then go over the same areas again to extract more moisture from the washing process. I bought this model because it has an extra year warranty to the other ones I found. Would recommend for everyone who has pets or kids!

Absolutely useless. Could not recommend less – I bought this yesterday. It’s rubbish. I cannot fathom how people are giving it high stars. Does not work on anything with a short pile- leaves it saturated. Even in the best situations, the suction for water is next to nothing (2 tanks in, 1/4 tank out.) So everything is left soggy and damp. The hose and cord holder can’t be removed once… Read more

clicked in place so they stick out and catch on everything.

If you so much as sneeze, and don’t keep the unit in it’s preferred position, the waste water floods out the bottom of the unit RIGHT ONTO THE MOTOR!

When emptying the tanks, the clean water tank has a lip at the top so the entirety of the water can never be tipped out and the hole is so small you can’t dry inside either.

I plan to get it dry somehow and return it first thing tomorrow! Would have been better of putting the furniture etc outside in the rain for all the good it did.

Love this little machine – We brought this for our holiday rental. We were panicking as the rugs and couches had a strong dog smell and we could not get a carpet cleaner in time before the new guests arrived. cleaner.

It removed all the odours and left a lovely clean smell.

It was less successful on older stains on carpet and mattress, but possibly if we had the oxy booster, it may have helped.

I can't believe we never bought this before. I am now using it all the time at home .

Just love it.

Great for clumsy people like me! – Thank goodness for this great machine. I bought it rather sceptically but tested it on a coffee stain and it worked magically. I now use it all the time and even bought the pet wash attachment and use it on my three dogs. It is worth getting the oxyboost detergent that goes with it. Excellent machine. Show details

Great suction, great cleaning, could do with a few minor design improvements – This device functions great, the suction is great and the results speak for themselves. I've attached before and after pictures of the seats in a second hand car I just purchased that I cleaned with my Spot Cleaner. However I'm only giving it 4 stars because there are a couple of design improvements holding it back from 5 stars. The biggest issue… Read more

is the length of the hose, in order to clean my car seats I had to place the spot cleaner inside the car at the feet of each seat. This might seem like a minor inconvenience but it also meant that the unit got in the way as I was trying to clean the seats, the cleaning attachment and hose was restricted by the unit itself when trying to clean the fronts if the seats. The other minor design issue is that the tanks just sit in the unit without anything to secure them. Due to the short hose length it is easy to pull the unit over (which I did when I first started cleaning and had it sitting outside the car) and spilt some of the cleaning solution.

It seems that there is an auto version of this cleaner but the only difference I could see was that it had a longer power cord. I really think they should just make a better all-round product rather than trying to sell minor variations of the same thing.

In conclusion this cleaner does a create job, I would definitely recommend it despite the room for improvement.

First use review - only used once so far – I think some of the issues people may have had with their machines may have been from not reading the instructions thoroughly. I can see how there maybe be a few things that need to be checked to ensure the cleaner works properly and doesn't leak. On one use only so far, I'm really happy with the product. I wish I had it years ago when I first got… Read more

my pet dog (to clean up dog wee). It worked really well on a spill on our carpet and I feel good knowing it's there on hand for any future accidents from pets/ children. Now I want to buy a carpet cleaner to do rooms/ large areas! I feel great knowing the carpet is clean! I did notice a little bit of water in the base of the unit but nothing major and I will see if it works better next use now that I've read the instructions a couple of time. I think I didn't have the tanks in firmly enough.

Fantastic – Was a bit doubtful how clean spots would come up on carpet with Bissell Spotclean, but was amazed. Handheld is more useful than floor shampooer. Bit more hard work but well worth effort. Can clean car, lounge carpets. Dont need to call in carpet cleaners anymore as i clean any spots as they happen.

Absolutely marvelous! – We have transformed our vehicles and caravans upholstery, now everyone wants to borrow it. Lounge suite is next then goodness knows what. Maybe the unit should have a water heater then it would really get 5 stars.

One clean lounge – We purchased this product from Harvey Norman to clean our lounge instead of calling carpet cleaner to clean it and we are happy and amazed with the outcome. Kids were constantly staining the lounge and comes out like brand new after being cleaned, just like the professionals. Yes time consuming but does the job.

Leaks water – Bought to do some spot cleaning on carpets and after about 5 mins unit started to leak from under the unit by the fanat first thought the hose was loose and spraying water from there but when lifted unit found water underneath. Unit worked well apart from this issue. This was on the first use of the unit as well. returned for refund.

Its amazing! – Our house is all carpet and this machine is just amazing. You have to use some effort to scrub with the hand held device but the fact that the shampooer does not flood the carpet is pretty good. you spray some shampoo onto the carpet then scrub with the handheld device which sucks up the shampoo as you scrub, which makes it really great because… Read more
