Hi Christine Do you mean the whole charger unit? They are on ebay and others for ca $50 se external link  iF YOU MEAN THE CORD ALONE, THAT DOES NOT DISCONNECT SO AN ELECTRICIAN WILL BE NEEDED. dON

I can’t see this saw using any chain oil and can’t find where the oil is supposed to come out to lubricant the blade

I Have the same problem with all chainsaws - either they use too much oi l or none. My approach is to oil the chain directly, spreading the oil with an old tooth brush. I repeat this periodically if doing much work. I notice my son using the same approach now that I have shown him. It does make sure all the links get dose of oil and the groove they run in is well lubricated.

The oiler doesn't work. I took the saw apart and the problem is the little plastic one-way valve; it does not work. I removed this valve and just joined the input and output hoses. This allows the oil to flow freely so I blocked up the air hole in the oil filler cap with a short piece of whipper snipper/ trimmer line so I don't lose all my oil. When I'm ready to use the saw I just remove the trimmer line to allow the canola oil to flow freely onto the chain. Alternatively you could just oil the chain manually with an old paint brush or tooth brush every few cuts. I used this method for years on an old BAUM-AG two-stroke saw with a broken oil pump; a bit fiddly but worked beautifully till I could obtain a replacement pump. I noticed Don Radford uses this method as do quite a few blokes still using the old McCulloch saws with the manual pumps. The B&D is a good little backup saw when you can't be bothered with a two-stroke saw. Another trick I used to use was to carry a Milo tin with 2-3inches of canola oil in it and dip the nose of the bar into the oil every few cuts, being careful not to touch the rim of the can. When you've finished cutting just replace the lid of the tin. You have to learn to improvise repairs when owning chinese products, including Stihl,"Hoosky" , Makita etc saws and trimmers (which are all made in China!).

The bar oiler is a manual pump. Press upon the oil-fill cap......it's simply a priming bulb that pressurises the oil tank. Operate the saw whilst pumping every coupla minutes.

Works well enough.

I have the same problem oil definitely doesn’t come out of this crap Chinese chainsaw, the motor works ok so I spray with some Wd40 when I use it.

Where can I find this chainsaw in NZ and what would be the price. Just replacing an old BnD that died.

I am in Sydney and I think I bought it fro Bunnings on line. One of the best purchases I ever made. I bought a new battery also online for a fraction of the standard price - in the proper box etc. Don

I purchased the saw on Amazon Australia for about $150 from memory. Do not go near the Ozito from Bunnings; the plastic body is very thin and brittle = fragile. The B&D is better quality (apart from the oiler not working).

However, the batteries are proving to be very difficult to replace in Australia?

I recently bought a new one in BandD box on the web at a reasonable price. I will look up the ebay stuff and get back to you. Don

thanks Don, I've ordered twice on eBay only to have the vendor say they are out of stock and its a 1-2 month restocking delay. Tried major online battery vendor , not available, now awaiting Black and Deckers response.

B&D says "Basing it on the model number, it seems that this is still one of our latest models within our 18V line. We no longer have the BL1518 1.5 Ah battery available in the market, however, you can upgrade to the BL2018 2Ah or BL4018 4Ah battery for longer battery life."

You can buy any battery from B&D 18V system. It worth to buy a 2.0Ah battery or even a 4.0Ah, as this will give a lot of autonomy. Just check the price offer between one 4.0 or 2 units of 2.0

Don, how would it compare with Bunnings Izitzo chainsaw for around $130? Did you consider that or go with B&D due to brand and reviews? Gerry

Hello Geeza No I didn't having already wastes a heap on a cheap Chinese saw, I decided to go with a brand I know. I have been extremely satisfied with it and it has done many hours work with me and still has the original battery which never runs out on the job. I count it as one of my most valuable tools especially as I have a muscle wasting disorder that means vey weak arms so its light weight is a bonus. Don

great answer Don..as i just tore my rotator cuff which is why I wanted a small battery chainsaw. Ok will get the B&D as it seems to get rave reviews on the net. Appreciate your time, G

Go with the Black and Decker. I've owned both saws and the B&D is of much higher quality.
